Marcy's Innocent Questions

Summary:

A series of chapters wherein Marcy Brewer, mom extraordinaire, is a little naïve about Patrick and David's relationship, and maybe gay relationships in general? "Queer things" in general? Not sure where this one's going to go, but I love Marcy and I love embarrassing her and Patrick a just a touch....so we'll see. I just thought it'd be a fun idea to explore.

Chapter one starts out innocent enough, but I've tagged this mature because I'm sure it's headed in that direction.

Notes:

1. I have NOT abandoned my other "It's not good for our relationship" work. I have just had zero time lately to write. I still have a couple of ideas for that one and I know how I'm going to end it, eventually. This just popped into my head and was short and quick and wanted to see if the idea had any traction.

2. I waffle between Marcy being very naïve and her seeming to be innocent, but knowing a lot more and being less shocked than one might anticipate. In this work? She's very very naïve! Just go with it.

3. As much as I love embarrassing Patrick, I think we're going to see a little bit more of "take charge" Patrick here. He's done hiding and being ashamed, etc. At least that's where I've gone with chapter 1. Maybe we'll cross a line into embarrassment territory eventually.

4. If you know me, you know that this is going to be dialogue only ;)

Your dad and I are going to head back to the motel.  Happy Birthday, sweet boy.  I’m so glad we could come and celebrate with you.

David, thanks for the invite.

Yes, David, thank you and it was so nice to finally meet you!

I guess we’ll see you at brunch tomorrow morning?

Yep, can’t wait.  We’ll give you a tour of the store afterward and show you around town.

Ew.  Yes to the store, no to the town.  Besides there’s nothing to really show them other than this four corners where we’re already standing.

True.  But we could show them the infamous sign.  And maybe take them down to the creek?

Sure, honey.  If you really want to.

Ok, well, good night boys.

Actually…David, do you want a ride back to the motel?  No sense in you walking, when we’re already headed that way.

Oh. Um. I mean, I guess that makes sense.

Marcy, the boys probably need to….finish cleaning up inside?

Yeah, and um, I thought maybe I’d walk Patrick home…before heading back to the motel.

Besides, they probably want to say a proper goodnight without parents around, right kiddo?

Ok, you two, enough.

What’s wrong, dear?

Mom, dad and David are trying to cover for the fact that David isn’t going back to the motel tonight.

Oh? Why not?

Because he’s coming home with me.  David spends most nights at my apartment these days.

Oh.

I know this is all new to you, and that’s my fault, but we’ve been together for quite awhile.  And now that you guys finally know about him - about us - I don’t want to hide, or lie, or tiptoe around anything anymore.

Of course, sweetheart.  I don’t want you to hide or lie anymore either.  I just want you to be happy.  I love you so much, Patrick.

Love you too, Mom.

Ok, well, we’ll see you tomorrow.  Have a good night, boys <winks>

Mom!

What, Patty?  I thought we weren’t tiptoeing around things anymore?

<chuckling> Touché.  See you guys tomorrow.
