   Summary

   Bruce floomps down hard onto the sand before the other mer has any time to flee. He lets his tentacles spread out around him, his bulk fully blocking off the rocks, leaving no easy path for escape.

   The rocky ledge is so close to the ground that he has to bend over to peer under it to look at the cowering mer.

   Huge blue eyes stare back at him, bright with terror and fury.

   It’s not a shark mer.

   It’s one of the massacred pod.

   A fry, tiny, not even the full length of one of Bruce’s tentacles.
