5 things Flippa learned about her dad and 1 thing she already knew

Summary:

Let's add that classic 5+1 to the qsmp fics wooooo!!

Flippa is learning all kinds of new things about her goopey dad and wants to share it with the rest of her siblings! She'll prove to them all that her dad is just as good as any other dad. Now if only her dad wasn't just so shy himself, things could be just a bit easier for the stubborn dragon.

Notes:

Technically this is a part two of my previous fic 'natural talents wasted' but you don't need to read it to understand this one! I summed up the main points so you can enjoy Flippa's perspective more.

(I also used google translate for the Spanish words, cause someone pointed out how Mariana switches between the two languages depending on who he's addressing and now Flippa does the same thing!)

Hope you all enjoy! <33

Chapter 1: Her dad has killer instincts.

Chapter Text

Juanaflippa loved her dad, she loved everything about him and how much he had taught her about his origins. Slimes were very interesting with all their abilities and sounds that only he could understand; Flippa hoped every day that she too would get to follow in his footsteps.

She didn’t know everything, but one day she would like to and join the rest of her siblings in gloating about all the things their parent’s shared.

Bobby was getting too cocky with all the facts he knew about the avian hybrids, as was Tilin, Chayanne and the youngest, Pomme. All of them were annoying in their not-so-subtle bragging about how their parents gave them feather jewelry. Even Ramon had cool machines to show off and he didn’t even have two parents! Don’t even get her started on Trump’s ridiculous birthday party with Uncle Maximus and his music.

It just wasn’t fair that all her siblings got special things and she was always the one left out. Not that she needed validation about her parent’s love, she could never doubt how much they loved her. There was just something different about the hybrids of the island showing their different ways of love and Flippa felt like she was missing out.

Her dad, Charlie or Slimecicle, was the only slime hybrid on the entirely of Quesadilla Island!

That automatically meant she won the lottery of best dad, with her mum obviously beating all the other mothers on the island too. It was just a no-brainer for her.

And it should’ve been the same for everyone else too, but they don’t get to see the type of dad that she sees.

Because her dad hides.

Her dad hides away from the spotlight, often moving closer to the background and making sure not to interrupt anyone else. Her dad likes to watch from a distance, never offering to show off his own abilities and more on one occasion has lied to her about his own abilities. Flippa never understood why her dad did such things, at first, she thought it was because he was humble and didn’t want to overshadow the parents. But then she learnt, learnt that bad people had made her dad feel the same way she felt when people thought she was a boy.

People had made her dad feel wrong in his own body and Flippa was furious.

She remembers becoming hypervigilant, becoming like her father, and watching the people around them, waiting to pounce on whoever dared insult her parent. Her mum was also a lot more tense around others, always making sure to check up on both her and dad before heading off anywhere. They were a tightknit family and became even closer once her dad opened up to them about why he hides himself away.

He doesn’t do that anymore though, Flippa makes sure of it!

She makes sure to hold his hand when they walk together, always make sure to hug him when she returns from school and always make sure to tell him that she loves him no matter what!

Her dad was the best and she was going to make sure everyone knew it one way or the next.

She already had a plan in motion, she was going to get her siblings to see the cool things that her father can do and then they’ll have no choice but to concede defeat and admit her dad is better!

Phase one of the plan was simple, she simply did her morning routine of waking up her loving parents by divebombing on top of them while shrieking loudly.

“MAMA, DAD, WAKE UP!”

She squeezed herself between them both, wriggling around and flapping her wings clumsily to be as inconvenient as possible. She was rewarded with her dad wrapping her up in his slime and bringing her to his chest, much to her amusement. She could hear her mama also waking up, mumbling curse words in Spanish as he too moved closer to capture her between both their arms.

“Flippa, mi hija ¿por qué?”

“¡Ambos necesitan despertarse ahora!”

Her mum groaned loudly, hugging Flippa closer to his chest and still not moving.

She needed to change tactics then, angling her head towards her dad, she used her horns to gently nudge at his chin. He stirred for a bit, slowly opening his eyes to look down at her while letting out a questioning hum.

“Daaad! Tell Mama we need to get up!”

“Why do we need to get up again?”

“Porque! I want to play with Bobby, you promised!”

No one actually promised her anything, but Flippa was hoping that due to both her parents having terrible memory, they’ll both just agree anyway.

As the silence stretched, Flippa knew she had them in her paws; she’d need to thank Leo for this trick later.

Her dad picked her up fully, taking them both to the kitchen while her mum groaned dramatically and followed behind. She watched gleefully as her parents made her breakfast; it was tradition to feed her first as her allergies had a tendency to get triggered easily. She couldn’t have anything with honey or dairy so everything had to be cleaned down before Flippa could eat anything. Though lately detergent has also been giving her trouble, her scales itch just thinking about it.

And bees too, she remembers getting stung by one of them and Bobby had to rush to Mr Quackity for help, all her siblings thought she was dying. Thankfully, the school always had healing potions on standby due to Forever’s paranoia and it really paid off. Her parents became hypervigilant about her allergies ever since then and constantly watch over her for any sign of reactions.

Not that she was complaining, she hated when her skin got swollen and started irritating her scales, even her eyes would swell up, interfering with her glasses. She hated it, being allergic to so many things sucked but her parents always made an effort to feed her new things.

“I think waffles should be good today, got some spare fruit we can add anyway.”

“Good, good. ¿Suena bien para ti, mami?”

She chirped in response, “Bien, bien!”, lifting up her fork and knife in demand as she watched her parents cook up breakfast from the dinner table. She always loved watching them, it made her feel warm and fuzzy inside to see them so happy together. They always liked to play up the dramatics around others but only she got to see the truth!

Because she was their special little girl, and they were the best parents in the entire world!

The two came over with her dad sitting on her left and mum sitting on her right, the plates were handed out and they began to dig in. So far, her plan was working perfectly, she always loved it when things went her way.

Unlike her parents – who were eating too slowly in her opinion – Flippa devoured the stack of waffles on her plate, shoving the berries in her mouth and finishing off her plate as quickly as possible.

“C’mon hurry up!”

She urged her parents, pouting at them both as she jumped in her seat impatiently. They needed to move quicker before it gets dark, she can’t let precious time be wasted and risk her plan getting ruined!

“She didn’t get that attitude from me.”

“No, she got it from your friend, Wilbur.”

Her dad cackled, but Flippa herself didn’t get the joke. As far as she knew Tío Wilbur like liked Tío Quackity or apparently maybe it was the other way around, either way no could replace her mum so he shouldn’t be worried. She’s seen the way dad trailed behind mum at social events and the way mum often looks for dad whenever they get separated; it was sickening how much they made lovey-dovey eyes at each other.

They really weren’t subtle, which is why she always found it funny whenever the other parents thought they were getting divorced over their many fights. No one could tell the difference between their play fights and their real ones, only Flippa did and that was because she had to go sleepover at her siblings for them to ‘make-up’ afterwards.

Gross.

She may be blind, but she isn’t dumb.

Hence her plan and getting her parents to hurry up!

Her dad only chuckled at her antics before cleaning up the plates and heading to the kitchen to tidy everything up, meanwhile her mum took her upstairs to get ready for the day.

She never understood why some of her siblings didn’t like getting into water, Flippa absolutely loved it. Her scales were extra shiny, and it made her feel special to get washed in a bath, all the bubbles were perfect for her.

Her mum helped her get dressed, putting her in simple blue shorts, a plain white t-shirt and a matching red cape that draped over her wings. She always found it funny that depending on whoever dressed her, she’d end up looking like said parent that helped her. To make it fair for her dad, she selected green ties for her braids, they were extra special because they had matching butterflies on them as well. And of course, she couldn’t forget her special gift from her father, a single slime flower that stuck to whatever she put it on.

Today felt like it should go on one of her bracelets, a beaded one that was mixed with yellow and green, making it blend in perfectly. She admired herself in the mirror, swirling around and flapping her wings in delight.

It was perfect!

After hugging her mum in thanks, she rushed down the ladder once more and hurried towards her dad, making sure he was ready too.

The family all made it outside with the sun still up in sky, temporarily quelling Flippa’s fears of being too late. All that was left now was walking to Bobby’s house and getting her plan into motion.

“Vamos!”

She raced down the stone ramps, hearing her parents scream for her in the distance as she took off without them.

They couldn’t use the warp stones due to her dad’s aversion with using them, therefore they’d get there faster if they had to chase after her instead!

She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her, using her wings to boost her over the plane debris leading up to Bobby’s house. Her parents weren’t too far behind her, both yelling at each other and her. Then she spotted the all too familiar bridge and all but sprinted towards the house, laughing the entire way as the sounds of her anguished parents got closer.

Flippa knocked on the security door, adjusting her cape idly and grinning brightly as the door swung open to reveal her favourite brother/best friend.

“Bobby!”

“Flippa!”

The two collided against each other, wrapping their arms tightly as they both attempted to squeeze each other during the hug. Only when they bumped into someone did Flippa look up to see her Tia Jaiden smiling down at them with a little blue parrot resting on her shoulder. She gasped at the little creature, pulling away from Bobby to get a closer look.

Bobby punched her in the shoulder, most likely annoyed at how quick she dropped the hug.

She flicked her tail at his head in retaliation, Bobby squawked in surprise.

“Hello Tia! Who’s that on your shoulder?”

“Aw hello Juanaflippa! This is Hatsune Miku, I don’t think you’ve met him yet before. Wanna take a closer look?”

Flippa looked on in awe as her Tia crouched down, extending out her hand and watched closely as Hatsune Miku steadily walked its way to the end of her hand.

“Can I hold him?”

“Of course, just hold out your hand and be very careful, okay?”

Juana nodded her head rapidly, cupping her palms and making sure her claws were redacted before reaching out for the bird. Miku observed her silently, eyeing her hands as he chirped questioningly; internally Flippa was attempting to mind control him to hop on her hands. And it seemed to work as the blue parrot bounced on her palm and merrily made his way to her shoulder, just like it was doing previously on her Tia’s shoulder.

She giggled at the feeling of the bird’s little claws tickling her, so absorbed in observing Miku that she didn’t notice Tia Jaiden taking a photo of the pair with Bobby pulling faces in the background.

“Flippa, I need you to never do that again or I’m putting you in the timeout hole.”

Her dad emerged suddenly from the ground just outside the house, his slime rebuilding itself to reform his body back to normal. He rubbed at his eyes tiredly and made his way to the entrance, leaning on the doorway as a few of his slime pieces recreated his glasses.

“Oh, hey Charlie – wait, timeout hole?”

“Hey Jaiden, yeah don’t worry about it.”

Flippa giggled at her father’s antics, he always loved making up things, particularly punishments that never really happened. Her favourite so far was when he made up something about a cage in the sky, making Tio Bad almost stop her from returning home. They never really clarified it was a joke, which is probably why they don’t really have sleepovers at her house anymore.

Didn’t bother her, she was like Bobby and enjoyed not sharing her parents with the others. Absolutely didn’t matter if they were all related; if Richarlyson can be greedy with his five fathers then she can be greedy with her mama and dad. It was only fair.

“Where’s Mariana?”

“Oh, he threw up somewhere probably-”

The sound of a warp stone being used suddenly interrupted the conversation, meaning her mum must’ve decided to warp after all.

“Slime, you motherfucker! Not all of us can go in the ground like a fucking rat!”

“Woah language! There are kids around, be fucking respectful.”

“¡Te voy a matar, hijo de puta!”

“I don’t need this negative aura in my life right now!”

Flippa watched them amusedly, piecing together what must’ve happened immediately; her father must’ve used his slime to travel underground to reach her quicker and just left mum behind.

She really loves her family.

Miku left her shoulder and flew off to presumably a more quieter location in the house after the sudden arrival of her parents and she didn’t blame him. Her parents were a lot for people that weren’t used to them, but she thinks it's part of their charm. She remembers over dinner them discussing how they wanted to be the toxic relationship on the island, though now that she thinks about it more, it was directly on the same day of her adoption.

Has she mentioned how much she loves her family?

As the pair bickered, Tia Jaiden directed their attention towards her, leading both Bobby and Flippa upstairs and away from the noise.

Flippa always loved visiting the house, Bobby had very strange pets on the second floor and his room at the top was head to toe covered in the many artworks of their family. More paintings appeared to have been added to the wall as she looked around his room and took note of the new additions.

Richarlyson seems to have given art as his pixel art was well known among the rest of the siblings and parents, even Pomme’s work was on the wall with her little paint strokes that showed a growing artist. Flippa herself never added anything to the art wall, she didn’t like people watching her and would much rather play outside anyway.

“Alright you two, I’ll be back soon with some snacks after I go help the other children with their argument. Remember the usual rules, Bobby no blowing up the house and Flippa if you need anything just let me know, okay?”

“Mum, don’t listen to dad, I’d never do that!”

“Yes, Tia Jaiden! I’ll make sure Bobby’s on his best behaviour!”

Bobby whacked her arm again and Flippa hissed back in retaliation, tail swishing as she eyed her brother for any more attacks. She could hear Tia laugh to herself as she left them upstairs and all Flippa could focus on was the danger that was Bobby.

The pair circled one another, tails moving, and claws unsheathed as they both crouched lowly to the ground in anticipation of who’d strike first. It was basic tradition between the two plus Tilin to battle in one’s house once the parents left. Bobby bared his fangs first with Juana copying him straight after, slitted eyes met slitted eyes and then it was one.

Two mighty opponents clashed for the battle of the century!

They rolled across the room, Bobby aiming to kick her in the stomach while Flippa aimed to bite his tail. The pair were locked in a viscous battle, leaving nothing but destruction from their war as their limbs struck out hitting all the furniture in their way.

It wasn’t until Bobby’s tail suddenly the table holding his three monitors that the pair broke apart in panic. Flippa dived for the falling monitor and Bobby scrambled to get up in order to fix the table. Time moved in slow motion with as the dragonette slowly came to the realisation that she won’t make it in time to grab the falling computer screen; life flashing before her eyes as the corner of the screen was one second away from making impact with the ground.

Suddenly her body was yanked upwards, pulling her away from the monitor, just as she was about to scream.

A green slimey appendage appeared from the left and wrapped itself around the monitor screen, saving it from its doom.

“Dad!” She gasped out, realising the thing that grabbed her was also her father’s slime. As she looked to the side, she saw her panicked dad’s face with both arms extended as she was put back on the ground safely and the monitor was placed back on the table.

She watched in amazed silence as her dad retracted his limbs and shifted them back to his more human hands, fascinated with how the green complexion blended back into the colour of his skin tone.

“I won’t tell if you don’t.”

Flippa nodded her head in agreement while Bobby practically sobbed in relief, rushing towards her father, and wrapping his arms around his legs.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Her dad reciprocated the hug, if not a bit awkwardly, looking to Flippa for assistance on the situation. She simply gave him a thumbs up and a huge grin, she was really proud of her dad and his quick reflexes.

“Hey, everything good up there? I heard lots of noises.”

“It’s okay mum!”

Bobby hurried yelled back at his mother, the trio all shared the same look of worry and all singlehandedly decided to never let this little event slip from their mouths. Roier would definitely lose his mind which usually they wouldn’t worry about, but Flippa knew how much of a mummy’s boy Bobby was. She knew how devastated he’d be if Tia Jaiden was ever even slightly disappointed in him, and Juana could certainly relate with how much she tried to be good for her mum and dad too.

“I came up here to tell you two that the snacks were ready, so let’s all go downstairs and pretend nothing expensive was almost broken by a wrestling match.”

Her dad gently shuffled them downstairs, though not before recalling any leftover slime from the monitor and around Bobby’s room. Flippa lead the way with Bobby still clinging to her dad’s legs as they made their way to the kitchen and pretended that absolutely nothing happened.

Tripita was awake and barking at them with excitement, most likely awoken by their noises from upstairs. Tia Jaiden was laying out a spread across the dining table and staring at them with hidden amusement in her eyes. Flippa liked Tia Jaiden because she never questioned their antics, letting them pretend that they got away with things, whereas Tio Roier would pick on them until they confessed.

Flippa hopped on one of the chairs, placing herself next to her mum and Bobby while Dad and Tia sat across from them. She noted with excitement all the fruits and lollies that decorated the table, even Bobby was sitting up more, and he was a picky eater too, though only when Tio Roier made anything.

The table was filled with light discussion with topics ranging from the weather, the love triangle between Tios Philza, Missa and Forever, as well as the dangerous mobs that have been spawning recently.

In all honesty, the conversations were a bit boring for the younger kids and Flippa was getting annoyed that Bobby was repeatedly kicking her legs under the table. With a huff she turned to her mum, tugging on his sleeve to get his attention.

“Mama, can me and Bobby go play outside? Estoy aburrido.”

“Si, Si, simplemente no vayas demasiado lejos.”

Flippa nodded her head in promise before waving at her dad and Tia Jaiden in goodbye, taking Bobby’s hand into her own and leaving the table to go outside.

The pair moved towards the edge of the river, making sure to stay close to the house and the bridge so as to not worry their parents. Idly, she picked up a few stones and started throwing them into the river, watching as they sunk into the water before an idea struck her.

“Bobby, mira, mira, mira!”

She pointed towards the river excitedly, watching as Bobby rushed to her side to see what she was yelling about.

The simple fool.

She grabbed the boy’s arm and with a flap of her wings and a quick tug, she pulled Bobby into the water with her. Flippa cackled evilly as she watched Bobby angrily yell at her, storming through the shallow water to give chase and chase they did. She used her tail to propel herself forward in the water, taunting her brother the entire time as he remained far behind her.

Lost in their own game, neither of them noticed the change in scenery and how much further down the lake they were going. It was only when Bobby finally managed to capture her, tackling her down into the water that the two looked around and realised their situation.

“Mierda...” Bobby whispered and Flippa couldn’t help but agree, none of the trees looked familiar, she had no idea where they were. All they really had was the river.

The river!

“Rápido, we’ll follow the river back!”

“Go, go, go!”

The pair moved out of the water, linking hands for safety and following the river back home, but the sun was starting to set, and they were getting worried. Flippa could feel her insides start to twist and she knew Bobby felt the same way, judging by the way his eyes kept darting around the area. Anything could happen to them, and they weren’t close enough to safety if something did occur.

A quick tug from Bobby pulled Juana away from the path of a zombie.

They needed to get home and fast.

She was suddenly reminded of the conversation the parents were having about dangerous mobs and all of a sudden, she wished she had paid just a little bit more attention. Maybe then, her and Bobby wouldn’t be running for their lives scared out of their wits to escape the dangers of the wild.

Then she heard it.

That familiar hiss.

A sound that everyone on the island knew about, it was a sound that haunted people and it was sound that sent chills down her spine. She immediately hit the brakes, yanking Bobby back violently as she bit back a scream.

It was a creeper.

The mob was green, glowing and getting way too close to them.

They both moved back, feet scrambling against the earth as they tried to separate themselves from the ticking timebomb. Bobby didn’t have any armour and Flippa didn’t have her gun as she left it in her chest at home. Never again, she swore to herself.

The sun was getting lower, they needed to do something and fast, but with the creeper in the way, it was causing a lot of problems. Flippa’s senses were on overdrive, thoughts all over the place as she kept moving backwards and making sure her eyes never left the creeper. Bobby’s claws were digging into her arm, a weak growl leaving his throat in an attempt at being intimidating.

A snap of a branch twig was all the warning Flippa got, moving on pure instinct alone, she dropped to the ground, pulling Bobby with her.

Like the monitor situation, the world appeared to move in slow motion as a single arrow shot out from the shrubbery aimed directly for the creature’s chest.

Oh no.

And just like the monitor situation, a green appendage suddenly appeared wrapping up not only the arrow but the creeper in its entirety.

And just like the monitor situation, another goopey appendage wrapped itself around Flippa and her brother, protecting them from the dangers of the world.

“DAD!”

“TIO SLIME!”

They both called out for him, tears running down their faces in pure relief and joy at the appearance of their family coming to rescue them. Flippa sagged against the slime, taking comfort as it manoeuvred her and Bobby away from the explosive animal. She could only watch in awe as the other slime piece quickly absorbed both the arrow and creeper, leaving nothing behind as it sunk into the earth, presumably going back to her father.

The slime holding her, and Bobby let go of them after the danger was essentially evaporated into nothing and then too sunk into the ground, only a few seconds passed before their hero reappeared from the earth. He looked just as frazzled as Flippa felt and she wasted no time running into his arms, Bobby following close behind as they all huddled together.

“Never, never do anything like that again kids. I knew something was wrong, I knew it!” Her dad wrapped them both up, shifting his arms and chest to his primary slime skin. He expanded his chest and tucked both kids against him as he took them home. Flippa snuggled underneath her dad’s chin, letting her limbs rest as she knew her dad’s goop would keep them connected for the rest of the journey.

By the time they returned, her dad explained the situation to a worried Tia and mum. Due to the extreme circumstances, they decided on ending the little playdate there. Flippa was too tired to say goodbye and simply fell asleep, still tucked in the safety of her dad’s slime.

She got lectured the next day by her mum and even her dad had to talk to her about the seriousness of what happened had her dad’s instincts not went haywire.

“We were all looking for you both and then I felt this tugging sensation inside myself, and I knew it was you.”

“But how? I didn’t call out for you or anything, we didn’t even know you were there!”

“Well, that little flower gift I gave you has a bit of a double use. Slime parents give their children pieces of their slime as a way to know where their children are, we do have a lot of them. You were shaking a lot Flippa, and I could feel it, and in an instant, I knew where you were and what was happening.”

“Oh.” She glanced down at her bracelet, looking at it in a completely new light, of course she already loved it, but to know that it was the reason her dad rescued her? That was just a whole new feeling!

She couldn’t wait to brag about this to the rest of her siblings!
