Chapter Text
Staring at the cards before you, your heart dropped into your stomach.
You had lost.
Your opponent, a second year that had initially offered a game of poker to show you the ropes, had a full house laid out on the table. It easily triumphed over your measly pair, making your head spin with the gravity of the situation.
"Oh my God, you're fucked!" The girl sitting in front of you cackled, tipping her head back as she laughed.
Her grating pitch sent ice through your veins, a stark contrast to the sweat that dripped down your face. Despite how terrifying her reaction was, she was right.
You were fucked. You gambled away close to a million yen, money that you didn't have. When you first started the game of poker, you didn't expect her to up the ante so quickly. The two of you had only been betting a few hundred yen, but then the second year asked if you wanted to make the game more interesting. Not knowing any better, you agreed, heart rapidly beating as your previous chips were placed with thousand-yen pieces.
It was your first day here at Hyakkaou, and you had already accumulated debt. A debt you had no hope of paying off without begging your parents for the money. Parents that were never home on top of that. That's why you were here in the first place; they had pawned you off to the school in hopes it would teach you lessons about business and leadership that they didn't have time to instill in you.
The brunette second year finally stopped laughing, her grin shifting to a viciously condescending smirk. "So, you got the money you owe me, mittens?"
Snapping out of your terror-induced stupor, your mouth opened and closed like a fish, shocked at what she called you. "Mittens?"
The girl choked back a laugh, covering her hand with her mouth. Her friends, who had been observing the game of poker, began to finally laugh with her. It was a frightening symphony that made your chest tighten with fear, feeling left out of a joke that seemed to be made at your expense.
"I know it's your first day, but you aren't that stupid, right?"
You just continued to stare at her with wide eyes, confusion, and worry painting your face.
"Get a load of this idiot! She doesn't even know what she got herself into!" The brunette said, falling into another laughing fit.
You had half a mind to just bolt out of the room at this point. Maybe if you ran fast enough, you could make it off campus and start a new life with a new identity before they tried to ask for the money again (you didn't actually believe that was something you could achieve, but you allowed yourself to have the wishful thinking).
After finishing her second laughing fit, the second-year stared at you again, making your palms sweat with anxiety. "When you can't pay back what you owe, the student council takes it into their hands. You'll become a house pet, the scum of this school! Have fun living like an animal, mittens!"
Your heart became a rapid staccato at her words. Student Council? House Pet? Animal? "What kind of school is this??" You shouted, slamming your hands on the desk you two were playing on.
Your sudden outburst made the brunette jump a little bit before she settled into a cocky grin again. "Welcome to Hyakkaou Academy, mittens. Today I taught you the most important lesson here; don't lose!"
That answered none of your questions, instead raising even more. Without a second thought, you decided to go ahead and try your luck with your idea of running away. If what she said was true, you were already fucked anyway, so why not at least give it a shot?
Bolting out the door of the classroom, your skirt swished with each powerful pump of your legs. Hearing chairs skid, and screaming from the open doorway, you continued to blindly run through the school, hoping to get far away from her, and even farther from this hellhole you found yourself in.
---
Your mission to leave had gone awry when reality came kicking back in full force.
Even if you did manage to leave the school grounds, what next? You couldn't just call up your parents and say, "Hey, funny story, I lost about a million yen! Mind covering that for me?"
So now you found yourself locked in the bathroom on the first floor, close to one of the exits. At the last minute, when your hand was on the door, ready to push the handle, you decided against it. Now you were tucked into a stall, sitting on the back of a toilet, head in your hands.
What were you going to do?
Hot tears began to drip down your face, your body shaking with an effort to keep your sobs silent. You didn't need anyone hearing your sorrow, much less those girls from earlier.
God, you were so screwed! You were stuck in a crazy school where gambling was something like your lifeblood, you owed roughly a million yen to a girl who you thought was trying to be nice, and you had no way out of any of it.
And the cherry on top, you were apparently something called a house pet? What the hell was it really? The girl had said something along the line of being like an animal. She even called you mittens, whatever that meant. Who would even come up with a crazy system like that? They must be someone really ins-
Boom
Jumping, your head snapped up from its position in your hands.
'Was that the door?'
Following the noise of the bathroom door being slammed open was a set of three footsteps, their footfalls almost like a syncopated rhythm.
'Shit, is it the girls from earlier?' Your body began to shake, fear gripping your heart. What would happen when they found you? Would they try and force you to hand over the money? Would they want something else in place of it?
Your tumble into terror was soon cut off by a knock on the stall door, a stark contrast to the entrance they made earlier. Taking a shaky breath, you spoke, trying to make it sound like you weren't just sobbing and on the verge of a panic attack. "U-uh, occupied?"
Shifting your eyes toward the stall door, you peeped a pair of brown loafers, and long, seemingly muscled legs. If you weren't actively awaiting an ass-beating, you would have found the sight mildly attractive.
"Better pull up your panties then, cause I'm coming in!" Face twisting to surprise and shock, you quickly realized they were not the girls from earlier.
Another loud boom echoed throughout the bathroom as the stall door was kicked open, revealing her.
Before you now was a girl with a sadistic smile, a revolver loosely clutched in her left hand. She was tall, and had a few inches on you, with short black hair, held back by a cute headband. As you stared at her face, you took note of the piercing she had, tucking that sight away for later. Though you saved most of your ogling for later, dread crushing any unsavory thoughts that surfaced.
"A little birdie told me you hightailed it out of a gamble, one that you lost." The terrifying (and attractive) girl took a few steps into the stall, seemingly unphased by the weirdness of approaching someone who could have been genuinely using the restroom.
You tried to find words, but nothing formed. Your mind was mush, a slew of anxiety and mild arousal, too muddled to comprehend anything save for terror and fight or flight instincts.
The girl just grinned wider, lips twisting into something cruel and crooked. "No comment, eh? I can fix that,"
In one smooth motion, she whipped her left hand up, her thumb pulling the hammer down. You registered cold metal against your forehead, your skewed thoughts coming to a complete stop. There was a loaded and cocked gun against your head. There was a fucking gun pressed up against you.
"I'm Ikishima Midari, president of the beautification council! It's my job to collect debts and make sure people own up to what they've done, keep the school beautiful and pristine, ya know?"
No, you didn't know actually. Kind of hard to know anything, WHEN THERE'S A GUN IN YOUR FACE! You just continued to stare at her, panic crossing your face, tears slowly welling up in your eyes.
Her previous grin dropped at the sight of you, almost holding faint hints of disgust. "Are you really gonna cry? Just cough up what you owe, and we can both get on with our day."
That finally made you start to think a little better, able to give a proper response. "... I don't have it."
Your voice was barely above a whisper, making the older girl lean in. "Eh? Speak up, mittens. I can't hear ya."
The gun was pressed harder into your head now as she leaned in closer, using the revolver as support almost. Even with that though, her condescending tone made something in you snap. "I said, I DON'T HAVE IT!"
You almost immediately regretted yelling, but a smaller, less notable part of you didn't care. This whole day had been insane, so what was a little yelling at this point? You deserved the mild cathartic release after everything that's happened in the span of a literal school day. You were tricked, put in debt, and were now being threatened with a fucking gun, in the bathroom no less.
Midari leaned back a little at the outburst, her grin finally returning. Even though you had a possibly loaded gun shoved in your face, you still had the guts to fight back a little. Oh, she was going to have fun with you.
"So you can't pay that girl back, huh?" Midari questioned, already knowing the answer. She just wanted to stoke that fire again, hear your voice rise and tremble with anger.
"Isn't that what I just said? Are you deaf or something?" You pushed out, your voice losing its hesitant edge.
The two other members of the beautification committee just stared at you with wide eyes, stunned that someone would raise their voice at their president.
The taller girl felt heat spread between her legs, excited by the idea she had. "You're feisty, I like that. Ya know, I'm feeling nice today, so how about we play a little game to help with this problem of yours?"
You raised your eyebrows in shock, not expecting that. Her question immediately set off alarm bells though, already knowing that whatever she was going to offer could not be good. I mean, what good could come from someone who was holding you at gunpoint? "What if I say no?"
Her smile faltered for a moment, finger twitching on the trigger. "Then I shoot you."
Your heart lept into your throat. 'What the hell??'
How could she just casually say that? She threatened to murder you like it was just an average occurrence. God, what if it was? Midari definitely seemed crazy enough for that.
"F-fine, how can you help?" You stuttered out, still trying to seem confident.
Midari's yellow eye seemed to glow as she leaned even closer, her warm breath fanning on your face. "We're gonna play Russian Roulette! There's one bullet loaded in here, so there's a one in six chance of it killing one of us!"
You were going to have permanent wrinkles at this point with how your eyebrows stayed constantly up. She was actually insane. You had to agree to this absolutely terrible game, and risk death, or say no, and get killed anyway. Fuck, you hated your parents for putting you in this awful school.
"H-how does this h-help me at all?" You spoke up, trying to desperately avoid eye contact, ignoring how close she was to you.
"Easy! If you shoot me and I die, I'll let you take all my money and pay off your debt, those two behind me will ensure it!"
The idea of killing her made your head dizzy. You didn't want to be a murderer your first day at this school, the mere idea making bile burn the back of your throat.
"But," She started, getting impossibly closer, slamming her free hand on the wall behind you, right by your head, "If I shoot you and don't kill you, you'll become my personal house pet"
Oh.
Oh.
The implications sent your already dizzy head into a massive spiral, a whirlwind of thoughts taking over. Her personal house pet? The licentious tone of her voice left no room for questioning really, knowing that she meant personal pet in a way that would have made your knees weak in normal circumstances (the worst part of this all, was that it still made the space between your thighs throb).
"Come on babe, what's it gonna be?!" Midari's excited voice cut through the haze of your thoughts, drawing your eyes to her flushed face.
Shit, you were actually going to have to play Russian Roulette with this crazy bitch. She was forcing you to gamble with your life, over prospects that made you lose either way. This was crazy. You were crazy. "Fuck, alright."
Midari let out an actual moan at your response, making heat rise to your face. She was about to shoot you, but you couldn't help your reaction. Midari was... attractive, insanity and all. Something about her fearless attitude made a more depraved part of you excited, wondering just how far that would go.
"You don't know how much I love you for saying yes! No one ever wants to gamble with me, fuck I hope you live, I wanna keep playing with you!" Midari rambled, tongue running over her teeth.
Oh my god, she had a tongue piercing.
The sudden click of the trigger, followed by the slamming of the hammer made you jump. She... she actually tried it.
Midari could have killed you without a warning, and your last thought would have been about her tongue piercing. This school has already done too much to you, what the hell.
"Yes, yes, yes, YES! My turn now, come on!" Still reeling from your sudden near-death experience, you were overwhelmed when she trusted the gun into your hand.
Staring at the revolver, you actually processed that you would have to shoot her. You would have to aim this at her, pull the trigger, and pray to whatever god was out there that you wouldn't kill someone.
"Hurry up! Shoot me already!" The older girl said, a crazed look in her eye. She had only backed up a little, just enough to let you comfortably raise the gun and hold up your end of the deal.
Shakily raising the metal weapon, you used both hands to hold it, thumbs barely able to pull back the hammer. The small click it made seemed to pierce your skull, just like a bullet was about to for Midari.
Closing your eyes, you pulled the trigger, wanting to vomit.
...
"I'M ALIVE!"
For the umpteenth time that day, you jumped, the gun falling out of your grasp. You had forgotten about your little audience till one of them rushed forward, grabbing the revolver before it had a chance to get scuffed.
Uncaring of the weapon, you quickly looked at Midari. Your face erupted in heat at the sight of her.
She had fallen to her knees in front of you, drool dripping down her face, mixing with the beads of sweat that had formed. Her face was even darker than yours, the flush reaching down her neck and up to her ears. One hand was cupping her face, a look of ecstasy in her uncovered eye, while her other hand was clutching her skirt, drawing attention to her quivering thighs. A puddle of something was forming below her, and the notion of what it could be caused mixed emotions in you.
Some perverse part of you was aroused by the display, finding her incredibly erotic. Another more sane part of you was disturbed. Did she really just get off on being shot at? You wished you could force yourself to be entirely disgusted, but the wetness under your skirt was singing a different tune.
Midari's attention eventually turned to you, taking in the sight of your now-disheveled appearance. She was going to love having you as her little pet.
Pushing herself off the floor, the committee president just grinned at the little trail of liquid that she left, knowing someone would clean it later.
Grabbing the collar of your uniform, Midari used her surprising strength to drag you close to her, breasts now pushing against each other.
"Come on, mittens, there is so much I wanna do."
