Naruto honestly doesn’t mind it, he knows working in fast food can be tiring and people can make mistakes. He truly applauds them for their hard work dealing with people all day every day because although he’s a social person he knows he can have a bit of a temper.
So when he gets his food and there’s onions in it he just sighs and start the meticulous process of taking the onions out. It’s not the first time it’s happened and Naruto doesn’t want to make a fuss about it when he can just take them out anyway. So he doesn’t say anything and goes about his business
He’s about halfway done when Sakura stops him
“Wait didn’t you ask for no onions?”
Naruto let’s out another sigh and shrugs
“Yea but it’s fine the guy already walked away and I don’t want to make a fuss— “
“Yea but you don’t like the onions and you asked for no onions, you get what you paid for and nothing less” Sasuke cuts in and Naruto looks between his two friends not liking where this going already.
“Guys it’s fine really, I’m almost done picking them out anyway.”
Sakura immediately starts shaking her head
“No no no Sasuke is right you get what you paid for and nothing less, when the waiter walks by I’ll flag him down to get you a new order”
Naruto bites his lip knowing his friends won’t let this go. He really didn’t want this to happen, he knows his friends and unfortunately they can be quite particular about things they buy or order. He still remembers the time Sasuke almost got into an argument with a cashier because he swore his total didn’t match up with the amount of things he bought and forced the cashier to do a recount. The total went down by $2 but it didn’t make Naruto feel better about holding up the line and almost making the poor cashier cry under one of Sasuke’s death glares. So really, he’s okay he knows how they get and between the two of them he’s sure they’ll get them kicked out or worse, banned.
He tries to talk them out of it. Tell them that it’s not that serious but they won’t hear any of it. By the time the waiter comes back around to their table to ask them if everything is alright Naruto is already halfway slouched into his seat half hiding and hoping they won’t cause a commotion.
He watches Sakura perk up and smiles politely at the waiter, he tries not to look at the guy feeling a bit embarrassed about having his friends talk for him.
“Excuse me, my friend here asked for no onions and we were wondering if we could maybe get a new plate for him”
Sakura asks keeping her polite smile in place.
The waiter eyes Naruto’s plate no doubt noticing the picked-out onions on the corner of the plate before glancing at Naruto who just smiles back sheepishly.
“Oh I see, well I can take the plate back and bring you a new one but there will be a slight delay will that be okay?”
Naruto nods quickly happy with the outcome but for some reason Sasuke felt the need to make it hard and asks
“Why the delay?” The waiter picks up Naruto’s plate and pauses glancing Sasuke’s way
“Pardon?”
“Why the delay? He already had to wait just to get food that wasn’t even what he ordered and now he has to wait even longer?” Sasuke says and Naruto can’t help the way his head slightly drops in resignation. They were going to get kicked out for sure.
The waiter glances between Naruto and Sasuke before saying politely albeit strained that Naruto had to wait because there are other people who are also waiting for food. That wasn’t what Sasuke wanted to hear at all. He goes on to say how that wasn’t their problem and they should get their act together and get their orders right the first time and after that Naruto just tunes them out.
He looks to Sakura with a pleading look but she doesn’t seem to see an issue with what’s happening with the way she’s watch Sasuke lay into their waiter is anything to go by and Naruto really just wants to eat a nice meal with his friends.
He tunes back into the catch the end of Sasuke’s heartfelt rant with a wince
“and if they have an issue then you can send them to me and they can take it up with me.”
Naruto doesn’t have to look at Sasuke to know he has The Look on, his businessman face that means he's not going to take anything less than the absolute best and fights back another wince, they’re definitely going to get kicked out and banned at this rate.
He looks at the waiter and decides now is the time to cut in and clears his throat to get their attention, shooting Sasuke a look to let the other man know that it's okay, he’s going to take care of this.
“It’s okay sir, I don’t mind waiting a few minutes for my food thank you”
The waiter lets out a small sigh and walks away before mutters something under his breath something that’s sounds a lot like ‘annoying prick’ and Naruto hopes to the gods that Sakura and Sasuke don’t hear but the way Sakura’s eyes widen and Sasuke’s eyes narrow into slits he can take a wild guess and assume they did. Naruto knows he’s never going to be able to eat at another restaurant in California ever again at this point. He doesn’t even stop them when they both turn to the waiter, voices overlapping.
“What did you just say—“
“Excuse me—“
Naruto just sighs and let them go at it as he drags Sasuke’s plate closer to him picking away at the older boys' mashed potatoes while his friends try their hardest to out yell each other at the waiter. He needs to pretend like nothing is happening or else the embarrassment will eat him alive. He can feel the stares of the other patrons as the double doors near the kitchen area open and a man walks out, no doubt coming to see what all the fuss is about. Still, he pays it all no kind as he polishes off Sasuke’s mashed potatoes and cuts into his steak. He and Sasuke may not share a lot of the same preferences when it comes to food but Sasuke sure did know how to eat a steak. To bad he wouldn’t be getting any Naruto thinks as he continues to take bites out of the steak.
Naruto looks up at the sound of chairs scraping and watches as Sakura and Sasuke stand up both wearing annoyed expressions. Sakura turns to Naruto grabbing his wrist in her strong grip that never fails to surprise him, and yanks him up.
“Come on Naruto we don’t have to take this.”
Naruto quickly shoves the one more piece of steak into his mouth before he drops the fork and knife in his hands allowing himself to be pulled up. He watches as the man from before, who he assumes is most likely the manager or head chef or someone important, tries to placate Sasuke who doesn’t seem to want to hear it if the way he briskly walks past the man says anything.
“Also we’re not paying for shit! Naruto, Sakura let’s go somewhere that actually knows what they’re doing”
Sasuke calls back as he walks out the door in that cool looking way that only Sasuke can pull off that Naruto tries to act like he doesn’t find cool and follows the other boy out the door throwing a small sheepish smile at their waiter on the way. He gets is a glare in return.
Naruto understands that and quickly walks out with Sakura next to him finding Sasuke already at his car typing something on his phone, no doubt leaving a bad yalp review.
When Naruto and Sakura stand infront of him he looks up at them expression all calm and collected like as if he didn’t just cause a scene in a packed restaurant.
“What do you guys feel like eating now” Sasuke asks as he unlocks the doors from them
Naruto and Sakura slide into the backseat as he gives them both a look. Neither of them are allowed to sit in the front seat when all three of them are together because Sakura and Naruto tend to fight over who got to sit next to Sasuke and have caused one too many incidents in his car so now when ever the three of them were together they both had to sit in the backseat
“Are you kidding me? I don’t want to go anywhere with you just take me home so I can order Ramen”
Naruto doesn’t even blink as Sakura drags Naruto to sit next to her as they settle down and slip on their seat belts. Sasuke takes off down the street ignoring Naruto’s previous words as he follows his gps to a new restaurant.
“I’m serious, I want ramen for compensation.” Naruto huffs and crosses his arms feigning annoyance
Sakura snorts as Sasuke just rolls his eyes and keeps driving but Naruto swears he can see a ghost of a smile on the other boys face and feels his own smile fighting across his lips.
“They have ramen where we’re going usuratonkachi”
Naruto just rests back against his seat losing his fake annoyance and grins at Sasuke through the rear view mirror.
“There better be, and you guys can’t cause a scene this time I actually want to sit and eat a peaceful meal for once.”
Sasuke just smirks and Naruto has a feeling he may have dug his own grave a bit but he can’t help but smile. He loves his friends.
