Work Text:

Today was a tough day, but this time you weren’t the one who was having a hard time, this time it was your friend. You hated seeing him like this, you hated it when things weren’t going his way and every single little thing was against him. It was rare for you to see him like this, you’ve seen him angry only a few times before, but it was never as bad as it was today. You never saw him that angry before. He’s always so happy and calm, he always remains his usual nice and kind self, no matter what goes wrong. You’ve known him for years and you’ve never met someone as soft and as sweet as him, but today was just not it, nothing was going how it was supposed to, too many things went wrong and it would easily make anyone angry and annoyed. He was trying to compose and calm himself, but at some point he wasn’t able to do that anymore and he was starting to become furious.
You were peacefully sitting on the sofa in his apartment trying to keep yourself busy while he was sorting everything out. Everything started with a phone call that he got in the early morning and it all went bad from there. You weren’t sure what exactly had happened, but it was definitely something serious since it got him into this state. He was sitting on the other end of the sofa with a laptop on his lap furiously typing away on his keyboard. His face expression was something completely new to you, you’ve seen him mad before, but never like this and it scared you. You hate seeing him either angry or sad. You hate it when someone around you shows anger, you don’t have any good experiences with it, which is why you always handle it so bad and why it scares you so much.

You just wish you could somehow make his day better and make him happy with a simple gesture, that you could easily help him out, the way he always helps out you. You wish you could just flash a big grin at him and that it would be enough to make him smile. But you know that it won’t work this time, unfortunately it’s not that simple. Saying stuff like “It’s gonna be okay”, “Don’t worry” or “Don’t be mad” won’t work this time and it’s not going to solve anything, it would only make him even angrier, if that’s even possible at this point.

He’s looking at his laptop with such an annoyed and angry expression like he’d be ready to throw this device away from him just to not have to look back at it again. He’s thinking really hard and quietly mumbling some stuff in an annoyed voice thinking of ways how to best solve the situation that he’s been presented with and is in right now. He is so over it by this point, he looked so done with whatever this thing was and it must’ve been big since it put him into such state.

Suddenly his phone starts ringing, which definitely didn’t mean anything good, it could only mean more problems and more anger. The second he hears the sound of his phone ringtone, he is fuming. The look in his eyes terrifies you, if looks could kill then anyone in his sight would be dead by now. He gets up from the couch to pick up his phone which was laying on the table nearby charging since he didn’t need it before and you always plugged it in, so he could relax and calm himself after work by just mindlessly scrolling on his beloved device.

Your eyes are following him, watching his every move, how he’s walking back and forth around the living room with his phone next to his ear. His voice is so harsh and so cold that you got goosebumps all over your skin. His voice is getting louder and filled with more anger with every sentence that leaves his mouth. He wasn’t shouting yet, but it feels and looks like he is going to start any moment, one wrong word from the person on the other side of his phone and it hell will unleash.

You were actually scared and terrified right now. Seeing him like this is brining back all the worst memories from your life that you don't want to relive ever again. You could feel yourself starting to panic, so you decide to go for a little walk around the apartment to try and distract yourself a bit from everything that’s happening and to stop the memories from coming back.

You slowly got up from the sofa trying to compose yourself, but what you heard seconds later caught you completely off guard. Suddenly he shouted into his phone, his voice was so loud, filled with so much venom and fury that it triggered the memories of the worst moments of your life to start playing in your mind. Your body starts shaking and a few tears are already rolling down your cheeks. All you want to do right now is to get out of this room and find a place to gather yourself and calm down. As if things could get any worse right now, all this stress made you forget that dan had his laptop plugged in to a wall socket which just had to be on your way. You wanted to get away from this room as fast as possible. And then it happened. When you were moving quickly you tripped over his laptop’s charger. This short wrong movement was enough to rip it out of the wall and make the laptop fall from the sofa onto the hard floor. You totally freaked out and of course the same moment your friend comes back to the sofa and sees what you just did.

- I-I’m so sorry, i-it was an accident - Your shaky voice stutters overwhelmed. You try to look anywhere else than at him, you don’t want to see his face and the furious look in his eyes. You feel like your heart is going to beat out of your chest.
- Oh seriously? This is just perfect! Can this day get any better? - His outraged voice echoes through your head. You notice that he just got even angrier when you didn’t think it was possible. You know how all his devices were so important and you managed to broke one but accident. And it was all your fault.
He was standing right in front of you, just a few feet away, looking at the broken device on the floor. Then he suddenly raised his hand and all you did at that moment was to squint your eyes and wince.

- Woah woah wait- Did you think I will hit you?? - His deep voice suddenly changed from angry to worried. His blue eyes are filled with worry and shock as he slowly shows you that all he wanted to do was to reach out to you and slowly cup your face to assure you that everything was alright and make sure you didn’t even try to blame yourself for anything that happened. He would never let out his anger out on you, it didn’t matter how angry he was, he would never leash out on you. He always calms himself down before talking to you, because he knows how seeing and being around people filled with anger terrifies you.
You can’t say a thing, the only thing you can do is just stand there shaking and staring on the ground, you were too terrified to do anything else.
- Oh my god- I would never- I would never ever do that- Never - He tells you in such a soft and sad voice.
His words were true and honest coming straight from his heart. His voice was filled so many emotions. He is careful with his tone, his words and his actions. He doesn’t want to accidentally scare you. Seeing you like this breaks his heart, he just wants to do everything to show you that you’re safe and to bring you some well needed comfort. He looks deep into your eyes slowly bringing his hand closer to your face stroking your cheeks with his thumbs. You slowly relax after feeling his soft touch on you face, nothing brings you as much comfort as his caring actions like this. He then slowly brushes away the tears falling down your cheeks. You try and relax into his touch, but this time it’s not enough. Your mind needs more comfort and more reassurance to calm down.
He’s not angry anymore, all the feelings from before left him, nothing mattered anymore. You are the most important right now and all he is feeling right now is worry over you. All he wants to do right now is to bring you reassurance and make you feel safe.
He carefully pulls you into a comforting hug, all the love radiating from him. He hugs you tighter, bringing you even closer to him.
- I would never ever do that, never… - He whispers softly, giving you a soft kiss on the head and places his head on yours. You know that he means every word he says. He would never hurt you. Not him.
