pitter, patter.. pitter, patter.
to one ruri kurosaki, the sounds of the rain used to be rather comforting. the xyz maiden would often sit by the window just to watch the rain softly drip.
..unfortunately, once academia invaded, that all quickly changed.
it felt like the days were a constant, looping storm. the sounds of the rain that were previously comforting felt too loud, too suffocating, and in the situations she would constantly find herself in, she had no time to relax.
pitter, patter.
today was rather rainy, ruri noticed from the window.
it was nice, being able to stay with rin, and the two girls had a lot in common, but..
once the rain started, ruri wanted nothing more than to hide.
rather than a soft, showering rain, today was more like...a heavy, constant rain that seemed to shred and destroy everything around it. for ruri, it made her feel as if her whole life was flashing before her eyes -
invasion. parasite. hurt. pain. isolation. agony.
she couldn't breathe, it was suffocating, she wanted out more than anything...
"shh. ruri, come here," oh, so someone was there. "it's okay, come here."
ruri opened her eyes, stained with tears that dripped softly like the rain she loved so much. "..hm?"
she wasn't alone. she wasn't in the towers of academia, isolated, a bug stuck in her brain, removing all free will she had. she wasn't a machine anymore.
because rin was there. she's okay.
"r..rin? ..it's really you, right?" hesitant, wavering, almost a whisper, ruri asks as if what was in front of her was an illusion.
"of course." simple, calm, steady. rin didn't dissappear, or disolve, she's there, for real.
ruri shifts closer, under a blanket. feeling small, feeling weak.
but she isn't, because she's not alone.
"ruri. trust me, okay?" rin's request earns a small nod from the other girl. "i..understand how you feel. of course i do - you're not the only one who was completely trapped like that. but it's okay. i have yugo, and everyone, and i have you - i'm not alone. you have yuto, shun, you even have me, so....listen to me, okay?"
she's not alone. that's right..
"ruri.... raise your head."
she does. she's scared. "...i look horrible like this, i'm sorry-" but she can't continue before she feels something soft, something warm on her lips.
it was a kiss. rin kissed her.
"e..eh?.." ruri's face reddens in a matter of seconds, earning a soft giggle from rin that sounds just so kind.
rin smiles, a slight smirk crossing her face as she plants another kiss on ruri's cheek. "so, feeling better?"
ruri covers her face, very flustered, unsure how to feel, but she nods. "...y..yes."
rin scoots up a bit closer to the other girl and smiles, patting her head, giving her a barrage of kisses. "good!"
pitter, patter.
the rain is comforting again, it feels nice, because neither of them are alone.
they have each other.
