The Final Performance In an empty theater. The curtains open, and only one performer. An Angel, clad in white and gold. The Angel starts their performance, dancing. A shadow of the Angel follows their fluid movements on the other side of the stage, copying the Angel’s. The shadow is in grays and reds, with horns and scales, dancing with the Angel. The entities met in the center of the stage, and the shadow and Angel paths crossed. The lights dim, the curtains close, and only the music is left. From the grand piano, no one was playing the music. The curtains open and Angel and the shadow are in center stage. The shadow is tall and slender, with a twisting crown of horns, leathery wings, sharp claws, and a long slender tail. The Angel looked so small in the Demon's arms, they were gentle with the delicate Angel. The Angel’s soft white wings fell over the Demon's hands and forearms. The soft light falls upon the dark scales and deep red stripes on the Demon's body. The small Angel’s halo sat on its snow-white hair, looking like a glowing golden crown. The Demon wraps the Angel in their wings. The curtains close and the music fades out. The performance is over. Ch.1 Behind the curtains was quiet and calm. The Angel was smiling up at the Demon, the Demon was still holding the small Angel in their arms and wings. “I always love to dance with you.” the Angel said. “I will always dance with you my love.” the Demon says smiling down at the small Angel cradled in their arms. “I wish you could leave the stage.'' The Angel's voice was soft and quiet. The Demon ran their clawed hands through the Angel's warm, white, hair. “Me too Love, me too. But you know I can’t.” The Demon's voice was smooth and soothing. “I know, but I can still wish,” Angel whispered. They held the Demon's scaly and clawed hand in their small pale ones. The Demon let the Angel out of their arms, and the Angel walked towards the curtains, they didn't expect to see a teenager in the stands. The Angel was startled, this theater was abandoned years ago. Why was a human here? The Demon came to the edge of the stage to see what startled his Angel, he noticed the teenager in the empty theater. The teenager was wearing a dark blue hoodie and he had headphones on. He had short light curly brown hair and green eyes. “Why is he here?” The Angel was intrigued by the teen in the, otherwise empty, seats. The teen in the seats didn't seem to mind the creatures watching him. “I wonder if he can see us.” the Demon whispered. The boy looked up and saw the two entities looking at him. He was confused. Who were these creatures? He got up from his seat and made his way to the stage where the Angel and Demon, Zephyr, and Onyx were standing. He surprisingly didn't feel any fear, only curiosity. He wanted to touch them, see if they were real. (They were real.) He was right in front of the stage with the two creatures looking at him, one was scowling at him and the other was looking at him with wide eyes. “Who are you? Why are you here?” the one dressed in gold and white asked. The boy looked confused, this place was supposed to be abandoned. “Answer the question.” Onyx barked at the boy, he wasn’t a fan of the stranger. The boy seems startled by Onyx. “Better question, What are both of you and what are you doing in an abandoned theater?” The boy didn’t like the larger of the two, the one with the crown of horns and the slender tail whipping back and forth behind them. Zephyr reached out a hand to the boy, he looked no older than 17. Onyx tried to stop them but the teenager had already taken their hand and was climbing up onto the stage, Much to Onyx's dismay. They wrapped their arms around the smaller entity protectively. “There weren’t supposed to be humans here!” the Onyx hissed. The boy was looking at the Onyx surprised, “What do you mean? A Lot of people know about this place.” he said, still confused. “We don't see humans much, even when they are spray painting things on the walls or recording,” Zephyr said. “Either way, you shouldn’t be here,” Onyx said to the boy. “This Theater is going to be restored in a few months, you are the ones who should be leaving.” Both the entities looked confused, Why should the humans want to restore an old theater? “Why?” The Zephyr was the first to speak. “Something about the history of the place.” the boy answered nonchalantly. “Who are you?” The Onyx was still skeptical about the teenager in front of them. “I'm Zach, Now who are you?” Zach pointed at the Onyx. “Why should I tell you?” The Onyx was getting anxious, they didn’t like someone so close to their Zephyr. “I'm Zephyr, and this is Onyx.” Zephyr motioned to the Demon next to them. Onyx didn’t want people restoring this theater, it was home. “We can’t leave, this is our home!” Zephyr was panicking. Onyx hugged Zephyr. “I physically can’t leave.” Onyx was saddened. Zach looked confused.” Why not?” Onys looked conflicted. “Every Devil, demon, whatever you want to call us, has an object that they’re tied to. We give it to someone or hide it somewhere. If the person we give it to dies we can’t touch it, if we forget where we hid it we can’t go back to it. I gave mine to Zephyr when they were alive, they died in this theater. That's why it was abandoned, now neither of us can move it. That's why we're stuck here.” Onyx hugged Zephyr a little tighter, they could feel the nervousness coming off their Zephyr. Zach's phone went off. “Well, let's hope the people restoring this place don't find the body.” Zach said as he jumped off the stage and made his way to the exit. About 2 hours later, Onyx and Zephyr went back behind the curtain, but now they weren't so calm and content, they were anxious and restless. “Maybe Zach can help us.” Offer Zephyr. Onyx sighs, “We don’t even know if he’s coming back.” “I hope he comes back, I don't want to die here.'' Zephyr was on the verge of tears. “I don't want to leave you.” Onyx sadly smiled. “I don't want to leave you either.” Onyx was lying on his back on one of the couch props that were left at the back of the stage with Zephyr on his chest. Neither of them could sleep, both of them were restless. They suddenly heard the rusting doors open, Zephyr got up and silently made his way to the curtain and peeked out. The person who opened the door was Zach. “You came back!?” Zephyr was happy but also confused. Why did Zach come back? Would he stay? Would he help them? Onyx got up from where he was lying and joined Zephyr. “Sorry for leaving earlier, my friend called me wondering where I was. Your performance was beautiful by the way.” “Thank you.” Onyx’s answer was cold, he didn't want Zach here. “Since the theater is going to be restored, do you think you could help us find Onyx’s pendant to get us out of here?” Zephyr sounded hopeful. “Why would I help Mr. Grumpy pants over there?” Zach pointed to where Onyx was behind Zephyr. “Because we can't leave and if my catalyst gets broken it's extremely painful and I die!” Onyx was getting irritated at this point. “If you won’t take my catalyst then leave.” “Fine, where is it, and what does it look like?” Zach’s phone buzzed in his pocket, it was a text from his sister ‘Get your ass home now it's dinner time’ Zach sighed and put his phone back in his pocket. “Looks like I have to go home, I might be able to come back tomorrow after school. Don't count on it though.” Zach turned around and left Onyx and Zephyr alone again, at least now they had some peace of mind.
