Icarus McQuack's Upbringing Plot Bunnies

Summary:

This is a collection of paragraphs of plot bunnies I have about Launchpad's childhood and early adulthood, plus of his current age on DuckTales 2017. If anybody would like to co-write any of these stories, let me know.

Work Text:

Here is a list of plot bunnies/summaries of things that happened to Launchpad McQuack in his childhood and early adulthood in my headcanon.

6. Everyone Knows Their Own Way: Six-year-old Rusty McQuack (Launchpad) is obsessed with ten-year-old Della Duck. Mrs. Quackfaster takes Rusty on a field trip to Fort Duckburg. Rusty wonders why Mrs. Quackfaster made him wear a beekeeper's uniform. She said it's to help him with his mushroom allergy...and to keep the spiders off of him. Mrs. Quackfaster takes Rusty on a tour in a mysterious underground tunnel underneath the statue of Cornelius Coot. Rusty is afraid he would crash at the bottom of the slope of the mine tracks if he were to ride the mine cart. Mrs. Quackfaster pulls out a grappling hook and shoots it above the doorway on the opposite side. Rusty and Mrs. Quackfaster slide across to the other side. Mrs. Quackfaster lights a match and with the match lights fuses that turn corn into popcorn. Now the question is since Webby implied that Della was literally steps away from the Golden Armory of Cornelius Coot, how come Della stopped there? Well, it turns out that Della was on a private adventure in the same tunnel not too long before Rusty, but at the time Della was there, the doorways was blocked with fallen rocks, so she turned back.

7. A Duckling Gets His Wings. An actual story based on Kid Icarus: Uprising where thirteen-year-old Rusty is like Pit, thirteen-year-old Bruno (Rusty's/Launchpad's twin brother in this universe) is like Dark Pit and nine-year-old Mary (Loopy) is like Viridi. (We also have it where Launchpad is like Lemony Snicket, Bruno like Jacques Snicket and Loopy like Kit Snicket, but that's another story.) Rusty is flying in a plane with his parents, siblings, live-in nanny Lena and tutor/Junior Woodchuck troop leader Mrs. Quackfaster. Rusty causes the plane to crash on Ithaquack where they meet Zeus, Storkules and Selene. The McQuack children wear togas and feathered wings, except Mary, being the rebel of the family, takes her wings off. They also meet the nymph Echo (a pelican) and Steelbeak (a descendant of Apollo). Rusty discovers that he is a descendant of Echo, which explains his "copy abilities" (in addition of Poe's spell on the McQuack children) and the McQuack mens' beaks.

8. Cockpit the Intern: Fourteen-year-old Rusty asks Scrooge McDuck if he can be an intern who accompanies Scrooge, Donald and Della on his adventures. He discovers he has the talent of painting realistic pictures, so he paints Scrooge, Donald and Della when they're on Captain Peghook's ship on the river Styx. He also discovers the ability to train seagulls to do his bidding such as make Peghook's ship fly (James and the Giant Peach reference). On top of that, he can perform magic with his harmonica. Rusty's ability to take the helm with ease gains him the nickname Cockpit (Like Pit as a male bird, get it?).

9. Team LP: Della's fascination with outer space inspires Rusty to legally change his name Launchpad. Coincidentally, Bruno changes his name to Leopard. Daring Dan Dawson invites the McQuacks to join Daring Dan's Flying Circus in Cape Suzette. Ripcord and Burnie accept the offer. Leopard wants to do his own thing but his parents are always pressuring him to be a pilot in the Flying McQuacks, and he wants to discourage Launchpad from becoming a pilot because of his crashing, so Leopard fakes his own death and then becomes an Egghead for F.O.W.L. The McQuacks mourn for Leopard and quit Daring Dan's airshow because even they think that it's too dangerous.

10. Gyro and the Sunchaser: Thanks to Launchpad's gift and curse from Poe De Spell, Launchpad has been blessed with intelligence, even though he doesn't seem smart. Della's fascination with the stars inspired Launchpad to become an astronomer (Arthur references D.W. and Della want to be astronauts, Brain and astrophysicist and Launchpad an astronomer in my story). Gyro presumes that Launchpad is not smart enough to be an astronomer. Launchpad shows Gyro all his Junior Woodchuck badges, including his astronomy badge. Scrooge hires Launchpad and Launchpad eventually gains the nickname Sunchaser, which he later names Della's plane that she named the Cloudslayer.

11. Orangey Duckett's Great Wrecks I've Seen and Had: Launchpad takes the entries in his journals about the crashes he as experienced and any depressing times like the presumed death of Leopard and the loss of his role model Della.

12. A Tale of Three Launchpads: Launchpad ends up in DuckTales 1987 and he sees it as a dystopia. Scrooge is greedy and cheap and is always mad at the Launchpad. Instead of being Dewey's best friend, he's Doofus's best friend. The Great Wrecks I've Seen and Had in this universe was dedicated to Huey, Dewey and Louie for believing in him. Donald is in the Navy, and Della is in the Air Force. The triplets confront Scrooge for always being mad at Launchpad. Later, Launchpad DuckTales 2017 ends up in Darkwing Duck 1991.

13. Operation Oregano: Mrs. Quackfaster hires Launchpad to be a spy of sorts to help Scrooge and the gang find adventures to go on and to find friends for Launchpad (Dewey, Drake and Della) and for other characters. Launchpad DuckTales 1987 and Launchpad Darkwing Duck 1991 are also spies, and take Launchpad DuckTales 2017's place whenever needed, plus Launchpad DuckTales 2017 help make DuckTales 1987 and Darkwing Duck 1991 better places.
