Chapter Text
Mikey liked to say that they had all finally ‘retired’ now that crime in New York was now truly just humans getting into regular illegal activities.
The Purple Dragons were still around and more organized under Hun’s leadership but they would take dealing with his gang over more interplanetary warfare, underground races kidnapping humans, Bishop, time travel, or mystical coups any day.
Happily married, April and Casey were able to hang out with the turtles without too much mortal peril in the way. Which was good because both of them had managed to have reliable work schedules. April had been working IT at home while everything was chaotic, but now she’s been able to hold a job at a research facility. Casey ended up becoming a highschool hockey coach, seems he has a talent for reaching and helping troubled kids.
Donnie, like the tech wiz he is, managed to get high-speed wifi into the lair and all of them took full advantage of it. Mikey used this to start recording himself playing video games. He started because he wanted to be able to prove when he managed something radical, he didn’t expect people to actually watch the videos he uploaded, but before he knew it he had a sizable fan base.
One night at dinner, before Mikey’s weekly stream, Raph was feeling particularly antsy. He, like his brothers, sometimes had a hard time with how quiet things had been.
“Anyone else get the feelin’ that somethin’ is gonna happen? Like soon?” he asked as he stared into his ramen bowl.
“Nah, you’ve gotta lighten up dude. There’s been nothin’ going on for forever!” Mikey replies before slurping up some of his noodles. Raph’s brow furrows at Mikey’s words but doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t know how to explain the itch in the back of his mind.
“Peace time can be hard to bear for a warrior so used to battle, my son, it is normal to feel as though there is still an enemy around.” Master Splinter assured.
“Master Splinter’s right Raph, it’s really weird to not be in some kind of mortal plot every week.” Leo said as he placed a hand on Raph’s shoulder “I get that way too. Like something is going to happen the moment I relax.” Raph only hmms in response as he eats his ramen.
“Alright dudes! I gotta go, starting my stream in like 3 minutes!” Mikey sprints off towards his room.
“I still can’t believe that Mikey is making money from playing video games.” Donnie says and the others nod their heads in agreement.
“Alright Dudes and Dudettes, before I end the stream did anyone have any game recs for me?” He played a wide variety of games but was always up for suggestions. He loved being able to basically hangout with and talk to people online. Someone suggested a new horror game that came out, and eventually he and his viewers were talking about different monsters and cryptids. Or more specifically, the newly sited Hudson River Cryptids.
“Cryptids?! In the Hudson? You gotta be pulling my leg, no way dude!” Mikey couldn’t believe that these so-called cryptids were real if he and his brothers hadn’t run into them. “What part of the Hudson?” Admittedly he thought that maybe someone had managed to see him and his brothers. They (him) had been a little lazy with the whole stealth thing lately.
“Bannerman Castle?!”
