Work Text:
They probably just messed up their whole live.
Going to a bar with the showman of a infamous circus? That was crazy, but agreeing to be his coworker was en absolute mess.
What would their father say about this? They alone were a theme to gossip about in the society and they were nothing but themselves, and they just gave a reason for the society to be talking about them non stop.
Ugh, the way they hate people watching over them in their performances is enough and soon they'll deal with even more.
Oh, and their music career was probably ended too now. Their work in the conformatory, their studies during the years to get where they are, the fights with their parents to study music, and they just threw it all off the window just because some guy got them a few apple blood shots and challenge them to join him?
Actually, yes, they accepted because they hated when someone doubted their capacities, but they should have recognized the obvious provocation that started when they first said no.
By the way, they also hated the formal etiquette their pairs used, the all-time perfect posture that they could feel their neck aching and their back arched so much it hurts, so if this meant all of that is gone; it's a good thing they just left.
Yeah Whispers, try to convince yourself that you did nothing wrong and you're happy with your fall to disgrace, hopefully it works.
Now they were walking around the building, looking around in awe, the performers behind the stage were getting ready in their colorful clothes and the constant chit-chat and different conversations all at once was a little bit overwhelming to the bard. They didn't even had time to see what show was going on at the moment when this man took them backstage and start telling them stuff that they didn't processed with all the stimulation going on.
"And over there you can see the twins, those kids are actually extremely grest magicians, those two have an excellent performance that it's amazing to start a show or putting then in between as a littme break while the others are getting ready" the tall blonde guy was saying to them, speaking at a rythm they couldn't follow that much, they only looked at the direction he said and saw two teenagers with hair a green tone slightly darker than theirs, talking with a huge smile when they noticed the new presence in the room
One of them, the girl with her hair in a braid came walking on their direction, the guy following close while looking at them with a raised eyebrow.
"Hey there, I'm Emira, and this is Edric" said the girl stretching her hair for them to shake "We're the magicians of the show, and sometime you may see our little sister, she's learning how to be an acrobat with her friend's mom" explained Emira with a smile.
"And you are?" Intercepted the boy, Eric was it?
"I-I'm Raine, Raine Whispers, I'm new, I just asociated with Caleb to help with the programation and expansion of the show" they explaines looking between the two teens.
What were kids doing there? They didn't look like they neded to work there, judging by the silk if the dress Emira was wearing and the suit Erwin -or was it Erin?- had on one shoulder.
"Oh, cool, well, see you later Raine" said the girl with one last smile and rushing her brother along her.
Raine stood there looking around, they lost sight of Caleb and now they didn't know where to go or what they're supossed to do, and actually they were disturbing the way to people moving in all directions.
They felt extremelly little, they were short normally, but always found themself in crouds and managed to stay calm and know what to do next, but now, this whole place felt like a surprise waiting to be seen, new scenarios they never expected to be around, the womand on their right getting her beard trimmed to look well -why can't i grow a beard like that?-, the huge man walking around with something that worked as heels but note quite so, the little kid with different color spots on his skin running around with a bunny plushie while a tanned girl worked on getting up on a trycicle and throwing balls attemping to juggle them succesfully sometimes but also almost falling of the vehicle.
They looked around trying to find someone they knew, but that was not their place to be and every instant that happened seemed to prove that they made the wrong move for the wrong reasons.
And a second later they felt someone tugging their arm, finding once more the blonde man wearing his hat proudly.
"Raine c'mon, i gotta show you the stage from this spot, it actually looks amazing and helps to keep an eye on everything" Caleb said guiding them to a little wooden stairs beside a big courtain.
When they were midway Caleb stopped walking but signaled them to go along to the top -it was better when you looked from there alone he said-, so they did, stepping carefully while feeling the expectant look on the man behind them.
They finally got up, and dared to look around.
Actually, it was nice, the crowd dind't even blinked an eye in their direction, it was almost as if no one saw them and they found it extremely calming at that moment.
Then, they saw her.
They saw the pale skin and really tall body in the mid air, with her hair in a gray wig and her body in a wine onesie with golden details at the sleeves.
She was in the middle of the air when she jumped to a swing attached to the ceiling and in a milisecond whe swiped from a hand grip to her knees, letting her arms on the air gracefully while she stretched her neck with her eyes almost closed.
She stretched her body elegantly, and for less than a second her golden gaze meet their emerald one and they felt how their constant heart skipped a beat.
For that second the time seemed to stop, the sight in front of them was breathtaking, that woman was the most gorgeous creature they had ever seen, and they felt their cheeks blush by the intensity on her eyes. For that one second -or less, who knows- everything felt right and they mentally hoped that the performer felt that too.
Then the moment was broken by the beautiful woman who kept doing pirouettes on the air with the crowd amazed by her movements, sadly, she didn't looked back again and she kept her eyes on the other woman that was with her at the performance.
Raine stood there for a while, their breathing deeply and slow, thinking about those golden eyes.
Yeah, maybe running to join the circus was a little precipitated but maybe it was the best decision they ever made if they got to even look at the cute trapezist.
"Who is she?"
