Mikey leaned back onto Casey's pillow, smacking his lips and staring at his hands. His mouth felt parched, and no matter what he did, he couldn't get the moisture back onto his tongue.
He poked his tongue out and licked his lips. They were dry, too.
Huffing, Mikey shifted so that he was lying on his back and the mattress was dipping under the curve of his shell. He turned his head so he could properly look at Casey, who was scrolling on his phone.
Mikey reached down, lightly pawing at Casey's hand before awkwardly entangling their fingers. It didn't work that well, Mikey had noticed after their many attempts at hand-holding; with three big fat fingers and five long bony fingers, they didn't fit together that comfortably. For Casey, anyway.
Mikey loved the hand-holding. As rare as it was, Mikey soaked up Casey's warmth like a sponge.
Casey looked away from his phone, humming curiously at Mikey. He drew his gaze up to the freckled turtle.
Mikey looked back, silent for a moment.

"Do you ever get water-hungry?"
"...Thirsty?" Casey's eyes crinkled. A wide smile grew along his face the longer he stared at Mikey; the poor turtle was serious, too.
Mikey was silent for a moment longer before he appeared flushed and shifted so that he didn't completely face Casey. "Yeah. That."
Casey giggled, his chest heaving with little breaths as he pushed himself up. He brought a hand up and ruffled through his mop of black hair before standing, still giggling all the while.
"I'll get you some water."
