|| Skyrim Fan Theories ||

Summary:

A collection of my theories on the Skyrim lore that I don’t think will ever be finished.

Notes:

I have not seen some elements of the game in some fan theories online, I have found, what I presume to be lesser known areas or ideas that many others tend to look over. I will put sources in so yall can see where I got these ideas. Yall don’t know autism till yall meet me.

Work Text:

the eye of magnus has been a long theorized artifact in Skyrim for some time now. But I believe I have a theory that could point to something more. The eye of magnus has an unknown language written on it that glows a bright, tealish blue. But after a bit of digging online I’ve discovered that the writings look suspiciously similar to ‘celestial’ and falmer alphabets. The celestial language is incomplete and a few letters are missing, but some carvings on the eye are eerily similar to that of the falmer tongue, just with very slight differences. I will report back when I have a somewhat translation. (Will be an edit, I will also have photos displaying similarities and differences in the dialect)

But my theory is that, when the nedic people came to Skyrim and began their rampage on snow elves, the elves found the eye of magnus deep underground and are assumed to have ‘taken it for themselves’. I believe this is wrong. During this time, the snow evokes were also in hiding with the dwarves in attempt to escape the nords. The dwarves had been building a device that had presumably been created to read an elder scroll, in an attempt to ascend beyond morality and become one with the gods. The elves also at this time had been being fed this mixture of a fungus that was rendering them blind.

I have also recently discovered a shrine labeled “ruined shrine of phynaster”, I presume this to be a god that the falmer worshiped, considering Falmer guarded the area. The shrine apparently was a safe haven for surviving snow elves seeking refuge, spirits of snow elf mages, warriors, and archers protect the shrine and regularly bring food there. But there are also giant floating purple gemstones, and if you dig a little deeper it appears these gemstones were part of an experiment. I believe arch-curate Vyrthur, knight-paladin Gelebors brother, might’ve tried to contact Auri-El or some other gods like phynaster to help save the snow elves from extinction. Perhaps a god listened to his pleas and granted him and his people a chance for survival. And this chance could have been the eye of magnus.

The power the eye of magnus holds could’ve granted the snow elves enough strength to maintain their lands and stop the nords from attacking. But the nords found out about the artifact and killed the snow eleves that protected it before they could harness the eyes powers.

The snow elves are known to be a very kind, nurturing, and most peaceful race of elves. The snow elves never wanted battle and only ever wanted peace, they even allowed the nords to move in when Atmora started freezing over.

I believe there was some divine intervention with the eye of magnus, this object was made to possibly save the snow elves. Because if all the snow elves died, so would their culture and their history.

And on another note, The god that the elves worship is known as Auri-El, but this god is also known as Akatosh. Basically Auri-El and Akatosh are the same deity, the kicker is that Auri-El hates all men and wishes the genocide of them all, while Akatosh is a mankind sympathizer, less commonly known as Lorkhan. An example of this would be the Dragonborn. (We are going to use Akatosh to refer both Auri-El and Lorkhan) Auri-El created the dragons but Lorkhan created the Dragonborn to fight these dragons to save mankind. Showing both sides of this crazed Aedra. Akatosh is an Aedra/god that wishes to destroy and protect mankind.

So perhaps the carvings on the eye of Magnus are from those of Akatosh who wishes to protect the elves who worship the Auri-El side of Akatosh. Perhaps spells, runes, or manifestations meant to aid the snow elves in the war.
