Eloise may never want to speak to Penelope again but right now, in this moment she has never been so impressed by her. After this mornings Whistledown edition where she printed Colin's statement for all to read she also sent him the most passive aggressive letter known to man. Anthony had not allowed Colin to read it for proprieties sake and had instead chosen to read it out loud right at the breakfast table.
To Mr. Colin Bridgerton,
Allow me to clarify, I have never asked for nor have I stated to anyone, ever, that I want your courtship. I can see how that debacle with Lady Crane has left you fearful of woman and their intentions. However as you stated plainly to me that you did not view me as a woman " I am Pen" I thought you secure in the nature of our relationship. I can see now that is untrue, so allow me to reassure you Mr. Bridgerton. After having witnessed first hand your less stellar decision making, your fondness for drink, your carelessness with my reputation, and how easily you break your promises, never have I been less attracted to a person.
I do not understand why if you believed me a threat to your virtue, you sought me out unchaperoned. Surely you understand the role of a chaperon in our society? I believe for your sake Mr. Bridgerton you should ask the Viscount for a refresher in etiquette and conduct becoming of a gentleman. I can see now that you are not mature enough to maintain a friendship with. To prevent any further confusion I ask that you leave me well alone Mr. Bridgerton.
Please note that I am not upset that you stated we are not courting for we are not. I am disappointed that less than an hour after telling me I was special to you and that you would protect me you publicly declared me unworthy of courtship. I suggest you look up the definition of protection as you appear to be confused. Perhaps if you have the time also look up the words tact and decency they would serve you well.

She is not sure if anyone at the table will ever be able to look Colin in the face again without second hand embarrassment so soundly has Penelope scolded him. Anthony looks so impressed she is worried he will recruit Pen to deliver all their scolding from here out.
