Chapter Text
[Bright lights flashed in front of her. She could feel herself heave while slicing through screaming creatures that lunged at her from every side. Eventually rounding them all to be in front of her and back off. Even more loud screeches sounded behind her, not wanting to take her eyes off her...Target? Attacker? It was so hard to tell for some reason, all she could see were blurry streaks slowly moving. Her vision might be damaged. Before she could continue, she heard something, someone from behind her. But because of all the noise and glitching, she could only make out the last part, "WE NEED YOU!" Who? She turned around despite the risk of the attackers approaching. For some reason, she felt there wasn't anything else she could do but try and see who was there behind her. They sounded familiar, She just…. needed .....to SEE....]
~"WAIT!" B called out, but it was too late, whatever that was, whoever was there, gone. Her system was fully active now and just like every other time this had happened, it was going to be difficult to retrieve and replay any sort of file after her abrupt awakening. She knew that. J had tried everything when it first started, but came to the conclusion that because of her weaker motherboard and more compact ram storage, if a file being downloaded during her sleep was interrupted, like if her system booted up, it would corrupt or flat out erase the file in its entirety. And there didn't seem to be anything that could be done to fix it without the help of just better parts. Knowing this, B just continued to lay there on her bed, quickly realizing that her mo- caretaker wasn't in the den anymore. Sitting up and looking to the front of the den she saw the low blue glow of her home's night that indicated where her creator probably was.
Every night or as often as she could, J would leave with or without notice and seemingly fly around the land. Usually looking out for food, parts, or anything else that could be of use to them. And on rare occasions, she would bring back random but interesting little items she'd found, gifting it to B to keep her entertained while gone. Looking next to the place she was resting, she still had quite a few trinkets she’d received. Shiny and colorful pieces of metal or glass, pieces of cloth that she'd learned to stitch together to make bandanas, and a few of her older gifts were things that J called 'Stuffed Animals'. One of the very first gifts J had given her, to keep her company when she wasn't there, was a dark blue creature called a whale. They apparently didn't exist on Copper-9, so neither of them knew much else, yet J was certain that whale was what it was called. B searched around the bed and grabbed another stuffed animal, this one more recently given to her, a bit dirty but still recognizable. A white and orange floppy eared creature called a Dog. This one had a few rips that B had fixed, even giving it a mini bandana to match J’s attire. Hugging the toy close, she finally got up and walked over to the den's entrance.
Pushing the shaft that partially closed off the den's entrance up, B could see the distant moons and planets in the cloudy sky. The snowy wind had dyed down quite a bit since yesterday so it was perfect weather for scavenging and hunting. She didn't really know how long J had been gone for, or how long she had till morning. She really hoped she'd make it back before sunrise, B really hated being left alone for so long, even with her toys and trinkets it just wasn’t the same. With still a decent amount of time left in the night, she sat down by the open shaft and snuggled with her stuffed dog, deciding to watch the sky and land below, listening to anything that might be out there as she waited for her caretaker to return.
~ For what seemed like hours, the only few things that B heard was the howling wind. Against the building, ground and itself as it went on its way. With nothing but a white-blue sky above as Copper-9 ever so slightly moved around its moons. But beyond that, nothing new. At least until she heard something irregular. Against the wind, every so faint at first but then gradually growing clearer, she heard flaps of wings, irregular flying. Strange. Before B’s processors had registered this strange sound pattern something collided with the building causing the shaft and platform she was on to be shaken. Yipping from the shock, B was tossed forward by the force and almost fell off the platform entirely. Thankfully catching herself just in time to stay put, but the same couldn’t be said for her toy. She still had a grip on the edge but remained there and with an outstretched paw trying to reach for it even though she knew it was too late. Once it had reached the snowy ground, she started thinking of how she’d get it back. But almost immediately, something whizzed by and snatched it up, disappearing against the faraway snowy grounds. The whole ordeal was so sudden and strange that when B backed away from the edge, it was with a loud thud and an escape whimper. Her newest gift, gone. As she continued to whimper over her lost toy, she began to hear scratching and weird sounds, feeling the platform start to slightly move in sync to the irregular sound patterns heard. But they weren’t wing flaps, they were claws, climbing up the side of the building. B composed herself enough to look over the edge praying to Robo-god that it was who she thought it was. Yet as she looked down from her place on the platform, there staring up back at her was a strange creature she’d never seen before. Made up of a blue metal, its many eyes glowing a similar bright blue. It had its sharp claws dug into the wall holding itself up and as it stared back at her, as it opened its mouth, she could see many sharp teeth that horrified her, before she was met with a high pitched screech. It knew she was there. B immediately ducked back from the edge and into the safety of her den as she saw a flash of light that the beast seemed to aim at her. As she scurried all the way to the back of the den, she could feel the things weight displacing the building, rocking it back and forth as it climbed. B swiftly hid under a blanket J would sleep with, hoping to hide herself from whatever that thing was. She tried her best to stifle her whimpering as she peeked out from under the blanket. For a moment nothing seemed to be there with silence adding to it, but then that’s when she saw 3 claws rise from the edge of the platform before slamming down and gripping the side as it hosted its upper half up. Showing its scary face as it searched the den. B couldn’t help it. She let out loud cries and howls for help as she ducked away. The creature snapped its head in her direction as it made eye contact with her and tried flashing a bright light in her direction, continuing to climb up and getting the rest of itself into the den-
