Summary:

Percy, Annabeth, and Grover don't know what to make of the mysterious godly stranger that just saved them from the Lotus Casino. Is he a friend or foe?

****

In other words, the Logan Lerman cameo that we all deserved from the TV show in the Vegas episode but didn't get.

Work Text:

Who was this mysterious other son of Poseidon? He couldn’t be Percy’s brother, obviously, Annabeth thought. Half-brother, maybe? Wait. Exactly how many half-siblings do I have from Athena?

Grover cocked his head. “Are you Percy’s half-brother or something?” She nodded to agree with his theory.

“Yep,” the man winked. “The name’s Triton, by the way.” The pale older man was obviously immortal then, but didn’t look a day over 32. He had long dark hair and beard, blue eyes, and his tie-less business suit made him look like a businessman on vacation. Though the look was spoiled by the conch shell he held in one arm and the trident held in the other.

“Without any river or mikvah nearby, this fountain was as good as I could get.” Triton looked down at Percy. “So then I guess you are my half-brother, from Dad’s descriptions. Well, besides saving you all, I only came here because I have a private message from Dad to give to you.”

Grover’s face soured. “Wait, can we three talk about this first?” Triton shrugged, and the trio huddled up.

“Grover, why are you so worried?” Percy asked. “He saved us from the Lotus Casino.”

“That is true,” Annabeth added. “A more evil god would’ve left us in there forever.”

“That’s what I mean,” Grover argued. “ Every god or creature we’ve met on this quest so far turned out to be secretly evil. Just because he helped us out once doesn’t mean he won’t screw us over later. And that’s not gonna change just because he’s your weirdly hot older brother --”

“Weirdly?” Percy yelped.

“Yeah, because you’re so boring looks-wise in comparison,” Grover stated.

“Hey! I am not ugly.”

“Yeah!” The other two turned to stare at Annabeth, surprised she was suddenly defending Percy. She immediately glanced downward. “I mean…yeah. Uh, none of us are ugly.” That was a close one, she thought.

“Whatever,” Percy shrugged, totally unaware of any potential flirting. “You two can stay here, but I’m talking to him.”

“Okay, fine,” Grover sighed.

“Just please try to come back in one piece,” Annabeth warned. Not because she cared about him or anything. But if Percy couldn’t survive a talk with his half-sibling, what did that mean for her?

Logan Lerman, here portraying Triton. He has pale skin, long dark hair, and a trim dark beard. He wears a dark green suit.
