A cop and a con artist falling in love never should have worked out but it did - no one was more surprised than Cole and Max. “We really are like all those couples on cop shows,” she laughed one night in bed.

Cole snorted and turned over so he was facing her. “You’re still on that?”

“Yeah, I am.”

She sighed as the boat swayed a little when a wave hit. “Didn’t think I’d ever get used to living on a boat but here we are.”

“Oh, are you living with me now?”

“Maybe I am.” She sighed, wondering how she ever got so lucky to have met this man after being arrested. It was funny how life worked out.

“Never would have imagined we’d end up like this when we first met,” he admitted. He had earned respect and got his job back, and this time, Max was by his side helping him solve cases. Life was a lot more fun with her around.

“Right there with you.” She snuggled in closer when Cole pulled her into his arms.

They shouldn’t have worked on paper but hey, opposites always attracted and they brought out the best in each other.
