Work Text:
“Is there a reason you’re not drawing your sword right now!? You’re the fighter of the group, you’re supposed to fight!”
The words left your mouth sooner than you could even think, barking orders at Laios as the two of you worked to barricade a door.
To put it simply… You were all ambushed. In a dungeon filled with all kinds of monsters and creatures of unimaginable terror, your group had been ambushed by a bunch of lowlife human criminals.
None of you had been prepared for it. Acts of thievery on that scale were more or less unheard of within this dungeon, plus the group mostly had experience in dealing with monsters. A lot of wins against the monsters of the dungeon were due to Laios’ knowledge of the beasts. That knowledge didn’t really come in handy when it came to one of the few species he didn’t really care for, his own kind. It certainly didn’t help that he was refusing to draw his damn weapon.
Thus, you were separated from the rest of the group and forced to hole up in the first safe room you could barricade, with a rather sheepish-looking Laios, until you could figure out a way out of the situation. You couldn’t tell whether the two of you had been followed or if they went after the rest of your group, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
After shoving a heavy chest of drawers in front of the door and taking a couple of steps back, you set your sight on your weirdo of a team leader while advancing aggressively.
“Well? Anything to say for yourself?”
You could tell from the look on his face that he was about to spout some bullshit. Your dear leader was a terrible liar. It was a cute trait when it was involved with something small. Not when it involved your team potentially getting wiped.
Laios did his usual tells, avoiding eye contact while doing a terrible impression of a more innocent man.
“… My sword is jammed. It won’t come out of the sheath.”
“… Really.”
Your reply didn’t even sound like a question. Just quiet disbelief. There were a lot of thoughts in your mind right now.
Why lie about that? What other reason could there be? Is he actually telling the truth and acting like he’s lying because he’s embarrassed?
Rather than chew him out like a certain halfling probably would if he were in your position, you decided to work towards a more progressive solution.
“Ok, lemme look at it.”
You held your hand out to take his sword from his hip. To your surprise, Laios suddenly backed away and began to look more nervous.
“No! No, it’s fine. I can do it. Just…”
The leader of your group trailed off as he began to pull at his sword, his face going red with the amount he was straining to pull out his sword. You stood there for a few moments and watched the man shake and pull at his sword while muttering out a couple curses.
If you weren’t currently worried about your friends and possibly being hunted, you would’ve probably watched him struggle for a little while longer.
Instead, in the interest of saving time and possibly the rest of your group, you advanced on him again so you could reach for the handle of his sword.
“Laios, that’s not working. Just let me look at it.”
Once again, Laios dodged out of your reach with a nervous look on his face. He gave you a shaky smile as an attempt to play it off while blabbering to stall your attempts to grab his sword.
“It is working! Look- wait, no, don’t look. Listen, I appreciate it, but you’ll probably break it if you try. You don’t want to leave the group without a fighter, do you?”
His excuses were piss-poor, as per usual. But arguing was getting you nowhere fast. Plus you could hear what sounded like footsteps somewhere within the building you were currently hiding out in.
You quickly hushed his waffling with a stern ‘shush’ and a gesture to the barricaded door. Luckily, Laios seemed to get your meaning and shut up for the time being. His expression became calmer as he nodded towards one of the far corners of the room. Giving him a resolute nod, you complied with his silent suggestion and snuck over to the corner and pressed your back to the wall. Laios soon followed as he did his best to sneak over without his armour making noise.
The two of you slowly slid down to a crouch while you listened out for any sign of movement within the abandoned house. You could tell that Laios was holding his breath so you could hear better with your superior sense of hearing, something you’d praise later when danger wasn’t present.
Even if his racing heart counteracted his lack of breathing.
The footsteps and shuffling sounded as though they were coming from the lower levels of the home, which meant you at least had some time to quietly strategise.
Turning to Laios, you slowly leaned in to start whispering to him.
“So you really can’t draw your sword?”
“No. Sorry…”
Your leader looked like he was thinking hard about saying something, but you cut him off accidentally.
“But you can swing the entire thing, right? Sheath and all? Like a bat?”
Laios seemed to wince slightly at that idea but nodded, looking as though he really didn’t want to use his sheathed sword as a club but would do so if it meant getting out in one piece.
You clicked your tongue quietly as you took that piece of information in. Laios would usually be one of the bigger strategists when it came to fights, but you had more experience fighting humans than he did. So you decided to take the responsibility of coming up with a plan.
“Ok, here’s what we’re gonna do…”
In an instant, Laios had turned to you and was giving you his full attention with an obedient nod.
“If there's just one or two of them, I’ll draw their attention and you smack them with your sword…”
Laios silently nodded again, his eyes flickering between your eyes and your mouth as you spoke. You’re pretty sure you have his attention.
“If there’s more… well… I think we’ll have to…”
Laios continued to nod every so often. He was staring at your mouth while pretending to pay attention to your words when in reality he was paying more attention to where they were coming from. You could immediately feel yourself growing flustered and the need to cover your mouth arose.
Of course, he’d pay attention to that.
Being a carnivorous monster, you had pretty sharp teeth.
Being a monster fanatic, Laios was taking this hushed little strategy meeting in close quarters as an opportunity to observe the way your mouth worked.
In an instant, your train of thought was lost as you flicked his forehead to get his attention back on you in your entirety, rather than just your mouth.
“Laios! What are you doing? Pay attention.”
Your leader blinked owlishly for a moment, a small pout tugging on his lips as he whispered back.
“I was paying attention! I just also happened to be studying your mouth. It’s so… different.”
The mention of being different immediately made you self-conscious.
You grabbed the front of your shirt and pulled it up over your nose so your mouth was no longer visible, much to Laios’ visible disappointment.
“It’s not that different. I’m still humanoid, just with slightly sharper teeth.”
Your response was more… defensive than you’d hoped. Really, you should be getting back on track, but your inner insecurity about being something that was considered a ‘monster’ was currently dictating your actions.
Laios looked almost offended by your words. His hands suddenly clenched your shoulders, drawing you in as he began to whisper-yell passionately.
“No! Your mouth is unique! The way your mouth differs from one like mine is awe-inspiring! For example…”
Your leader didn’t seem to pick up on the fact you really didn’t like discussing your more… monstrous features as he began to info dump on you. He decided to start with your jaw, his dominant hand sliding up to move your shirt back down and cup your jawbone as though he were taking the opportunity to truly study you.
“Your jaw! You’re a carnivore, so you probably have a stronger bite force than I do thanks to your jaws. I’d love to feel what that bite of yours can do someday.”
“I’ll bite you if you keep touching me like this.”
You threatened quickly, giving him a glare that felt a little more flustered than you would’ve liked. You should’ve guessed that threat wouldn’t have worked on him though. You could see Laios’ eyes light up as he heard you say that, his thumb moving along your jaw to brush against your lips.
“Really?! You’d do that for me?”
The splutter that came from you was less than dignified and embarrassed you to your core. You did your best to come off as stern and distant in hopes that you wouldn’t become this monster fanatic’s new fascination. And yet it seemed to backfire all the time. He just couldn’t take the hint.
And you just couldn’t say no. His attention felt… nice.
His eyes were solely on you. He didn’t look scared.
Laios looked interested. And apparently, that was all you needed, all he needed to get you to indulge in his weird passion.
So, with a falsely annoyed eye roll, you opened your mouth slightly so he could get a peek at your teeth.
His thumb coaxed your mouth a bit wider by pressing down ever so slightly on your bottom lip while Laios’ lips parted a little. Following his lead, you opened your mouth wide enough for his thumb to finally slip inside. You could hear your leader suck in a sharp inhale when he finally felt the inside of your mouth. The pad of his thumb stroked your tongue, getting a good feel for it as he mused out loud.
“It’s so… wet and warm. Such an interesting texture… It feels good.”
Laios seemed to approve of how your tongue felt below his thumb, judging by both his words and the blush slowly spreading across his cheeks. You could swear his pupils were getting more dilated and his breathing was a little heavier. Those were all things that happened when Laios observed or talked about monsters though. Totally not because it was you, right?
You didn’t have time to fully comprehend Laios’ reaction to his exploration of your tongue, he was already moving on to another part of your mouth.
Your leader brought his free hand up to cup the other side of your jaw, tilting your head up slightly so he could take a look at what he enjoyed most about your mouth.
“Your teeth… They look so sharp! Perfect for tearing into prey. I bet they could draw blood so easily.”
Laios was now stroking one of your incisors, his eyes half-lidded as he was quietly awestruck at how different it was compared to his.
Standing there with your mouth open so your friend could gush over your tongue and teeth slowly began to cause your jaw to ache. You were doing your best not to get too flustered while avoiding eye contact so you didn’t chomp down on his thumb suddenly. However, those efforts were soon in vain when you felt the pad of his thumb experimentally press up and rub against the sharp tip of your teeth.
Your mouth suddenly snapped shut, your jaws clamping down on what your instincts perceived as prey on the brink of escaping your gaping maw.
Laios’ eyes suddenly snapped open wide as you suddenly bit him, a strangled groan coming from his throat at the sensation of your teeth finally piercing his skin. You both stood there in shock while his blood began to slowly pool onto your tongue.
When he made no attempt to remove his thumb from your mouth, you tentatively withdrew your teeth from him to lick the wound like a cat would after biting their owner. Your apologetic lapping earned you another flustering noise from Laios.
It felt… different in comparison to all the other times you’d tasted it before.
While his blood tasted the same as everything else’s, metallic and warm, there was something about it that was strangely intimate.
Maybe it was the way he leaned in closer or the way his free hand squeezed your jaw as though to encourage you to lick him again.
Either way, you continued to clean his thumb with your tongue. Your fingers found their way around his wrist to keep his hand still while you licked away the blood that flowed into your mouth (not that he wanted to move his hand anyway).
When you decided to suck on his thumb, that’s when you were rewarded with something special.
Laios’ dumb, handsome face twisted slightly in either pain or pleasure as he groaned out a quiet ‘oh fuck’. The sound caused warmth to shoot right through you.
Spurred on by his enjoyment, you made a bigger show of what you were doing in hopes of getting a reaction like that again. You alternated between licks and sucks while allowing your sharp teeth to teasingly scrape along the skin of his thumb.
Laios didn’t groan like that again, but the way his breathing picked up slightly was enough for you… For now at least. That sound would be repeating in your mind for days though.
Wait- what were you doing again? Oh! Right, the whole ‘group got ambushed and are possibly dead or in the process of dying, while you and Laios are being hunted down’ thing.
Finally coming to your senses after god knows how long of… whatever the fuck this was, you suddenly pulled Laios’ thumb out of your mouth so you could whisper yell at him.
“Holy fuck, Laios! We got distracted! No more distractions, we need to-“
Your train of thought was brought to a grinding halt as you watched your group’s intelligent, ever-so-calm leader regard his injured and saliva-covered thumb curiously for a moment. That wasn’t what caused your brain to short circuit, oh no.
It was when he put his bleeding, spit-soaked thumb into HIS mouth that your brain ceased to function.
Especially when he made eye contact with you while licking it clean.
The noise that came from you was, once again, not very dignified.
It was a strangled screech that drew the attention of anyone within the vicinity as you began to scold him without even thinking about it.
“Laios! Stop that! That’s so unhygienic, ew! Spit that out right now!”
“What happened? Did Laios eat something off the ground again?”
The sound of Chilchuck’s voice suddenly making a (slightly muffled) appearance caused you to whip your head to the barricade, the fear of being caught doing the weird shit you’d been doing shooting through your veins.
Oh god, how long had he been out there? He probably heard everything!
You slumped over in embarrassment, face becoming ungodly warm as Laios was the one to respond to Chilchuck’s question.
“No, I just cut my thumb and was cleaning it using my mouth.”
Your head whipped back over to Laios to fix him a warning look, a glare telling him not to go blabbing about what the two of you just did to no one. He just gave you his usual dopey smile before making his way over to the door to move the dresser out of the way so the two of you could get out.
He managed to move it by himself while you calmed yourself down, not wanting to appear so flustered in front of your group while you were pretending you hadn’t been allowing your leader to give you the strangest dental exam ever. You’d been sure you had played it off well until Senshi took one look at you and piped up.
“We should have lunch soon, this one’s drooling already.”
To say you were mortified was an understatement. In an instant you were rubbing at your face, trying to rid your chin of the drool that must’ve escaped while you had your mouth full. You could feel Chilchuck giving you a suspicious look while Laios gave Marcille a brief summary of what happened while the two of you were separated from the rest.
The fact that Laios could go back to normal as though he hadn’t been so deeply engrossed in your mouth mere moments ago solidified your overall opinion of him.
That guy is so fucking weird.
