Chapter Text
His day started off normal, like any other day. His mother had taken him to the quirk doctor to see when his quirk would come in, all was well in his life until
“You’re son is quirkless”
That was what the doctor had told him and his mother. He could feel his mothers grip on his arm tighter to the point he was sure it would bruise.
He bit back a sob, and clenched his bag tighter to himself
His mother was furious, even more upset than she had been when he had accidentally dropped his cup on the floor. She dragged him out of the doctors office and to the car. Once they had made it inside the red car his mother had turned around and slapped his cheek, and punched his stomach. She then started driving, but not in the detection of home. When she finally pulled over she got out of the car before physically dragging him out of the back seat, she practically threw him to the ground along with his black backpack before kicking him all over.
His stomach growled and gurgled, he hadn’t eaten since last night.
She had driven off, telling him he was useless and not to bother her with his presence anymore. He got up, body burning from his beating, he slid his bag onto his front and clenched it tightly so no one could steal it as he walked.
He glanced down at his fingers, the tips having turned purple from the cold air, his breath fogged with each breath. He stuffed his hands into his sleeves and held his arms in an attempt to stay warm, though his thin jacket didn’t do much. It was starting to get dark, the sun slowly turning the sky beautiful shades of orange, pink, and red, unfortunately this also meant that it was only going to get colder.
His legs burned from walking and his stomach hurt from the lack of food and water in it. He could feel how the cold bit at his cheeks and nose, he wanted to go somewhere and ask for help but knew that no one would.
Izuku wasn’t dumb, even at the young age of five he knew he wasn’t a genius, and that he wasn’t as smart as his peers. but he knew that with his newest diagnosis he wouldn’t be treated kindly. Izuku had seen the statistics (he had been able to see it on the computer on one of the many times his mother wasn’t home) he wasn’t likely to make it to his 18th birthday let alone adulthood. Izuku knew he was most likely never going to be a hero, despite this he decided he would at least try, Eraserhead fought practically quirkless, so who says he can’t be the first quirkless hero?
First though, he needed to survive, all he had was his notebooks, his Eraserhead and Present Mic stuffed dolls, and a few hundred ¥(yen) that his grandmother had given him before she passed away, and all of this was tucked into his black backpack.
In this time he hadn’t noticed how dark it had gotten, the sun had set and the only light he had was from some stores and the street lamps. He pulled his hands out of his sleeves as his fingers had gone numb, his hands were shaking and were half purple. He quickly stuffed them back into his sleeves as he continued walking.
“Hey kid! What are you doing out here alone?” An oddly suspicious man asked “Why don’t you give me whatever is in that bag of yours and I won’t hurt you” he continued moving towards him, “I don’t have anything! It’s just some old clothes!” He lied, Izuku hated lying but had learned how to lie convincingly enough that he wouldn’t get beaten by his angry mother as often. “Then you won’t mind me taking it right?” The man moved forward as Izuku backed into an alley. “Leave me alone!” He cried as he backed into the wall

Shouta was doing a normal patrol, it was cold to the point he had stuffed hand warmers into his fingerless gloves; he could feel the cold air gnaw at his exposed skin. Tonight had been rather peaceful, he actually wanted there to be some sort of action, though he would never admit it himself. So when he heard the cry of a child asking to be left alone he darted forward and stopped to see a man looming over a small boy who could only be maybe 6 years old if not younger.
The kid had a mop of green curls on his head and was only wearing a pair of pant and a thin jacket, he also wore a pair of red shoes (ones that were often wore by young children and quirkless individuals)
He sent out his capture weapon as he jumped down into the alley, the man immediately began fighting back and inevitably hit his head on the wall.
“You ok, kid?” Shouta asks turning towards the kid, he had big green eyes and a galaxy of freckles on his bright red cheeks, his nose and lips were blue and he was trembling like a leaf in a hurricane
“Eraserhead?” The boy asked, a hint of excitement in his voice, Shouta didn’t have time to be shocked before the boy collapsed
Luckily he was able to catch the small boy before got a concussion. Upon catching him he could feel how cold the boy was, he carefully pulled the boy's hands out of his sleeves; his fingers were mostly purple. Shouta was quick to pull off his gloves and stuff the little boy's hands in them, he held the boy close to his chest as he fished his phone out of his pocket. He quickly called Tsukauchi
“Eraser?” Tsukauchi asks, he sounded tired
“I need you to send the police to the location I just sent you, I have a kid here that shivering and his fingers are turning purple”
“I’m sending them now, do you know who the kid is?”
“No, but I can give you a description”
“Please”
“He has green curly hair, green eyes, freckles, is about 5-6 years old based on height and voice”
“Ok, from what I can find their isn’t a missing persons report on someone of that description”
“Shit!”
“What’s wrong?!”
“He’s got bruises all over”
“What!”
Shouta could hear papers shuffling on the other end of the phone
“I’m on my way”
“What?”
“That kid’s going to freeze by the time you get there, I’ll pick you up and bring you to the hospital”
“Ok, that's probably true, I’ve got to call ‘Zashi and tell him what’s going on”
“You do that, I’ll be there soon”
Shouta hung up and started scrolling through his contacts, he could hear the police cars getting closer as he tapped his husbands contact and started typing a text. He had just sent off his text when the police and Stukauchi arrived, he got up and quickly made his way towards the detective's car; opening the back seat and sliding in the small kid in his lap. Shouta buckled himself in and held the kid against his chest as they drove towards the hospital, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket, he ignored it knowing it was most likely his husband.
“Where are the bruises?” Stuki asked
“Everywhere from what I can tell, he has them all over his stomach back and chest”
“Ok, we’re almost to the hospital”
“Thanks Tsukauchi”
“Not a problem”
When they reached the hospital Shouta was quick to get inside and get the boy Checked in, he even flashed his hero license to get him back faster. When they finally got him back they had changed him and hooked him to an IV and bandaged him up.
“Hello” a nurse said calmly
“Hello, how is he?” Shouta asked
“He’ll be fine, he has a few broken ribs, a sprained wrist, and a lot of bruising; He also has hypothermia, frostbite, and a few blisters on his feet, but the worst think is the broken bones and hypothermia, aside from that he’s fine” she said with a smile
“Thank you”
“You’re welcome, there's a man with blond hair and green eyes asking if you’re here, would you like me to send him up?”
“Please”
“Of course”
A few minutes later there was a nock on the door before it opens and Hizashi walked in with a black duffel bag
“I brought you a change of clothes, how’s the little listener?”
“Thanks, he’s ok, he has some broken bones and a sprained wrist, he has frostbite, hypothermia, bruising and blisters, but the nurse said he would be fine” Shouta said getting up and grabbing the bag to get changed and walking out of the room
~~*~~*~~*~~
Hizashi’s phone pinged beside him, he picked it up to see a notification from his husband
Shouta: ‘I found a kid, we’re heading to xxxxxx hospital meet me there’
Hizashi: ‘Shou?! I’m on my way, I’ll bring you a Change of clothes’
Hizashi got up off the couch, replaced the battery in his hearing aids, before grabbing a duffel bag, he stuffed a pair of gray sweatpants into the bag along with a black T-shirt, a jacket, a phone charger, and some Preset Mic merch for the kid (it was a small hoodie they could put a kid in). He stepped out of the house and locked the door behind him. He hopped into the car and began driving towards the hospital.
When Hizashi reached the hospital he immediately went to the front counter
“Is there a man named Shouta Aizawa here?”
“Just give me a moment to check, please” the receptionist says calmly
He goes and sits down to wait and a few minutes he’s approached by a nurse
“You’re here to see Shouta Aizawa and the boy he brought in, correct?”
“Yes, that’s me”
The nurse then leads him through a series of hallways before making it to a room
“Their in there” the nurse says before walking off
Hizashi knocks on the door before opening it. When he opened the door he saw Shouta sitting in a chair next to a hospital bed
“I brought you a change of clothes, how’s the little listener?”
He watched Shouta relax slightly and began to get up before replying with “Thanks, he’s ok, he has some broken bones and a sprained wrist, he has frostbite, hypothermia, bruising and blisters, but the nurse said he would be fine” before walking out of the room taking the duffel bag with him
Hizashi sat next to the boy, he had noted the bandages and how still the little boy lay, the boy In Front of him was small and Frankly adorable with his galaxy of freckles and green curly hair. He sat in silence for a while before the door opened and Shouta walked back into the room in his new clothes, setting down the duffel bag and pulling a chair over beside him. They continued to sit watching the little boy for a while before Hizashi turned towards his husband
“Can we keep him? We have been talking about adopting recently, and we could just foster him first that way we know we actually get along and like each other.”
Shouta sighed “he is very cute, we can see about fostering him, I don’t want to adopt him if we’re just going to hate each other's guts”
“Really?!”
“Yes, now keep your voice down, you might wake him”
“Right, sorry”
“It’s fine, Zashi”
They continued to sit in warm silence as they watched the young boy. It had been about an hour before the boy's eyes fluttered open revealing beautiful emerald green eyes. The little boy looked around before his eyes locked onto them
“Hey, kid, how are you feeling?” Shouta asked his voice oddly gentle
“I’m f-fine” the boy said in what Hizashi could only describe as the cutest voice ever
“That’s good, what’s your name, little listener?” He asked calmly
“I-Izuku, Izuku M-M-Midoriya”
“Alright, Midoriya-“ Shouta stopped upon seeing the boy flinch
“Ahem! Izuku, why were you alone, and covered in bruises, you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to”
“I.. I got kicked out by my mother, she was mad I was quirkless, the bruises? Their from her kicking me and hitting me before she drove off. Oh! and all the times she got mad at me too”
Needless to say both adults were upset with whomever his mother was
“Y-you’re not going to make me go back, are you?” He asked, his voice weak and quivering.
“No, we're heroes, we'll just activate our emergency foster license and foster you, ok?”
“Mmhmm”
“Ok, good”
They spent a few more hours talking and learning more about Izuku and his personality. They learned that the boy was very polite, and once he trusted you enough his stutter almost completely vanished, though Shouta swore up and down that the boy’s polite and sweet attitude would change after he got extremely comfortable around them.
~~*~~*~~*~~
It’s been a few months since the Yamazawa household started fostering Izuku and he already had 2 older brothers; Hawks/Keigo and Tensei/Ingenium (there best friend)
Shouta had gotten to bed at a decent time because of his now 6 year old son, so when he got up the next morning he wasn’t as dead on his feet as usual
He was in the middle of making himself some coffee when his phone started buzzing
“Hello?”
“Hello? Is this Shouta Aizawa?”
“That would be correct, is something wrong?”
“Not particularly, we would like to inform you that the school is temporarily closed for the foreseeable future. During a villain fight Endeavor burned down the school, and it turned out that there was some problems with the ground, we apologize for the inconvenience, I must go now though, bye bye”
He sighed heavily
“Hizashi! We’re going to need to take Izuku to school with us for the foreseeable future!”
~~*~~*~~*~~
Currently, Shouta Aizawa was sitting in front of Nezdu while the rat, sorry, Stoat (Izuku was sure to tell him so) examined his son
“I do believe he could do work in your classroom with you, I can have a spare desk brought in and some stuff for him to work on printed out by the time class starts” Nedzu says with a smile
“Really? No catch?”
The chimera laughed “the catch is that I get to help teach and watch the little one, as well as the other teachers”
“Oh god, fine”
“Amazing! I shall get everything set up”
And that was the conversation that lead up to Izuku being seated in a desk at the back of the classroom next to the window diligently working on a drawing before class started, this also marked the first day of the famous tradition between first years to ‘say Hi to green’ and to be respectful,
The tradition of ‘Say hi to green’ was started by a first year and is a part of 1-A’s admission script and all students in 2-3 year aren’t allowed to speak to or of green or who he is, until the third day of the school year, only Izuku and the teacher are allowed to talk about green but can’t tell actually tell anyone who he is until the 3rd day (Izuku is the exception, he just plays by the teachers rules for the fun of it)
