Dripping..
All he could hear was dripping on the cold concrete floor the sound of liquid dripping onto the floor repeatedly almost like a clock ticking. He felt cold, pain flooding his senses he couldn’t feel anything but pain and cold. The dripping continued. He opened his eyes, it was pitch-black visions of blood and teeth still flashing through his head the images wouldn’t stop. It was just blood and teeth blood and teeth blood and teeth.

A door opened, and a small trail of light dimly lit the room, Dazai squinted looking up when he heard a small gasp his eyes still hadn’t adjusted to the light yet but he saw a dark figure standing in the doorway of the room. Dazai couldn’t move, not even to adjust himself he just lay there pathetically on the cold hard concrete floor.

The figure in the doorway hadn’t moved yet, they just stood still in shock breathing heavily Dazai could hear that but he could only focus on the pain and cold he felt deep in his bones. The figure seemed to snap out of its shock quickly running towards Dazai and dropping to their knees, they reached out towards Dazai, and he flinched before he could even try hiding it before he blacked out in that dark basement.

Chuuya was in shock at the state he found his partner in how could this have happened, what even happened to him? Chuuya snapped out of his current state and ran towards Dazai quickly dropping to his knees and reaching out for him, Dazai couldn’t even suppress a flinch Chuuya felt bad for making him flinch but before he could say a word Dazai passed out.

Chuuya felt fear strike through him and quickly checked his pulse to see if he was still alive, He breathed a sigh of relief when he felt a heartbeat “What the hell did you do Osamu?” Chuuya started looking over Dazai better looking for any life-threatening injuries.

Dazai had multiple wounds over his whole body they looked like bite wounds. That was odd Chuuya thought but he continued cataloging all the wounds on Dazai’s body there was so much blood all over the place it was on the floor and the walls Chuuya’s knees began to ache from the concrete but he still looked over Dazai carefully, his skin had been ripped and torn at there were puncture wounds and bruising, god Chuuya hoped there wasn’t any internal bleeding.

Chuuya made the tough decision to get Dazai back to his apartment, he wanted to get Mori involved but he had a feeling that sick bastard had something to do with this, maybe he’d get Hirotsu to stop by the old man knew a lot more about treating injuries than he did, but Chuuya’s first priority was to stop the bleeding from the multiple wounds over his body.

Somehow he carefully managed to get Dazai to his apartment without concerns from anyone on the street. “Ok.. the first course of action, I gotta get him to the couch.” Chuuya sighed grabbing towels out of the storage closet and spreading them over the spot on the couch that he was gonna have to put Dazai on. He moved Dazai onto the couch and ran to his bathroom to go get his first aid kit along with some more towels he ran back to the living room and stared at Dazai for a moment before starting to treat his wounds.

Unfortunately for both Chuuya and Dazai, he had no clue where to start there were so many wounds and blood was starting to soak into the towel under Dazai but Chuuya didn’t care at this point, he unwrapped Dazai’s bandages wincing at all the scars underneath that he knew were both self-inflicted and that he had gotten from others too.

He started to hold pressure on one of the deeper wounds that Dazai had on his calf that one looked like it might need stitches… Chuuya did a good job cleaning each wound with care pausing whenever Dazai stirred. Finally, he leaned back and looked over his work, he had been working for a long time he had to stitch up a total of 4 wounds and miraculously Dazai hadn’t even woken up yet Chuuya went to go grab a rag and a bowl of water to try and clean up some of the blood on Dazai’s body.

Dazai woke up, he had no clue where he was but he wasn’t as cold anymore and he didn’t hurt as bad either, Dazai felt weary he had no clue how he got out of that cold basement and he had no clue who had taken care of him, he started to panic, his breathing picked up, he couldn’t see, he couldn’t hear. Yet again those images of blood and teeth started flashing in his mind, and suddenly he was back in that basement on the cold hard floor.

The dogs… they felt so much bigger than he was their gnashing teeth ripping him apart, biting and tearing ripping flesh from his body, the sour smell of blood thick in the air, all he felt was pain and fear. Looking towards the door he saw the dark figure of a man he knew well standing there watching these beasts tear into his body he hoped his eyes portrayed how he felt, silently begging the man for help.

No help came, the man stood there a reminder of the failure that Dazai had during one of his missions how could he do this to him, the pain Dazai felt had to have been the worst pain he had ever felt in Dazai’s 16 years of living, but there was no relief as the dogs kept biting and ripping, he could feel every movement as one bit into his thigh and ripped it’s teeth through his flesh, Dazai knew Mori wouldn’t let them kill him but he wished he would.

Chuuya walked back into the living room stopping in his tracks seeing Dazai awake he knew immediately that something was wrong, Dazai had sat up, shoulders tensed breathing shallowly but quickly, too quickly. Chuuya set the water down and walked towards Dazai cautiously “Mackaral?” Chuuya asked, no response Chuuya walked closer and put his hand on Dazai’s shoulder, he didn’t react Chuuya wrapped his arms around Dazai and breathed slowly and carefully, he pressed Dazai’s head to his chest and just held him.

Dazai suddenly didn’t feel like he was in that room anymore, he could feel someone hugging him but… he didn’t feel scared he felt peaceful but he couldn’t seem to calm down. He put his arms around the figure holding on tightly, gripping onto their shirt until his knuckles turned white, and just cried. Dazai couldn’t even remember the last time he cried, it felt good to let himself take off this mask he made for himself to just… Live.

Chuuya held onto Dazai as he cried he sat on the couch next to him not even caring about the blood that he had just sat in. He eased Dazai into his lap and just held him tightly, the other boys grip hadn’t loosened he still held tightly onto the back of Chuuya’s shirt, Chuuya didn’t mind though he just held Dazai tightly whispering to him that he was ok and that he was safe, Chuuya assured Dazai that he would never hurt him.

Dazai finally realized where he was, he mustered up the energy to speak. “Chuuya?” Dazai said quietly, Chuuya wouldn’t have even heard him if they weren’t sitting so close together “Yes Osamu.” Chuuya said softly, he felt Dazai relax further into his grip with a sigh “I’m glad you're with me.” Dazai said before falling asleep in his lap. Chuuya smiled softly before he too fell asleep, worn out from the day's events.

A few hours later Chuuya woke up, still holding onto Dazai. Dazai was sleeping peacefully in his lap, he looked more at ease than Chuuya had seen him in the past day. Dazai stirred and blinked awake slowly, he looked up at Chuuya “Looks like my dog is very loyal after all.” He said smugly, Chuuya huffed out a laugh but he was glad Dazai was back to his normal self “Yeah yeah, but we need to clean you up, you stink.” Dazai didn’t look very happy at that news but he relented “Ok fine but I just can’t walk.” he put his hand on his forehead dramatically flopping down onto Chuuya’s lap. Chuuya rolled his eyes but moved Dazai off of his lap and picked him up bridal style to carry him to the bathroom.

Once they got to the bathroom Chuuya lowered him into the bathtub “I’m gonna go grab a towel, stay right where you are.” Chuuya went to the hallway and grabbed a towel out of the hall closet before returning to the bathroom where Dazai was just sitting in the tub “Alright I wanna clean you up because you’re gross.” Chuuya said while kneeling towards the tub and turning the water on to a warm temperature that he knew Dazai would like “Wow, how mean! My dog insulting me.. I’m so sad” Dazai said while Chuuya moved to help him out of his bloodstained white button-up shirt.

“Oh please spare me your antics,” Chuuya said exasperatedly throwing Dazai’s shirt on the ground behind him and shutting off the tub when the water was filling up the entire bottom of the tub “Do you need me to help you take your pants off or can you do it yourself?” he asked, “At least take me on a date first before you try to get in my pants slug,” Dazai said moving to try and peel off his soaked pants before relenting “Ok fine I do need help.” Chuuya huffed a small laugh and moved to help Dazai out of his water-soaked slacks.

Once Dazai was in nothing but his boxers Chuuya grabbed a rag and gently started scrubbing the blood off Dazai’s skin. Dazai shivered at the cold feeling the water left when Chuuya moved to lightly scrub another spot, he looked at Chuuya’s face. Seeing the care that Chuuya was taking to not hurt him made Dazai feel warm and fuzzy inside, an unfamiliar feeling that’s for sure.

A couple of minutes later they finished up, Chuuya helped Dazai dry off and he also helped him bandage himself, he had Dazai sit down on the toilet seat and left to go grab him a pair of clothes. Unfortunately, Chuuya didn’t have clothes Dazai’s size so he settled on grabbing the biggest t-shirt he had and a pair of sweatpants that would not cover Dazai’s legs fully but they would have to do.

He brought Dazai the clothes and helped him change, and then they slowly made their way back to Chuuya’s living room, Chuuya helped Dazai onto a different spot on the couch and gave him the TV remote before cleaning up the bloodstained spot on the couch. He finished up and sat by Dazai on the couch watching whatever mindless TV show Dazai had put on before they both drifted off to sleep in the warm environment of Chuuya’s apartment, Feeling safe and at ease.
