You didn’t even dare to blink when you heard the door to your apartment open and close. You didn’t look up when Olivia’s voice called out your name, you didn’t even think to answer her. Your eyes were fixed on the spider that was casually walking across the wall of the apartment. You could swear you heard it goading you.
“Babe, what are you doing? And why are your shoes on our couch?” Liv asked crossing her arms. “You know the rules.”
“Darling, the rules do not apply when there is a spider taunting me,” you muttered. “It came out of nowhere, and I don’t dare take my eyes off of it.”
“A spider?” Liv raised an eyebrow, noticing the creature on the wall. “That’s tiny.”
“But fearsome,” you whispered, voice nearly squeaking when the spider moved. “No, no, stay on the wall!” it had moved towards the floor.
Liv tried, she really did try to hide her amusement at her boyfriends antics but when the spider landed on the floor and started crawling towards the couch and you yelled, yes yelled, you refuse to admit to yelping and somehow managed to leap towards the kitchen counter in a very impressive display of athleticism she lost control. You glared at her. And she finally noticed the tightness around your eyes, and the way you watched the spider, it was the same way you would watch a suspect with a loaded gun.
“You could help instead of laughing at me, you know,” you pouted. “Like getting bug spray while I keep an eye on it’s location.”
“I didn’t know you were afraid of spiders,” Liv said walking into the kitchen to grab the can of spray. She saw your back tensing and wondered why you would keep this a secret from her.
“No-one knows,” you clarified. “Not really something I advertise.”
Liv hummed as she walked back, eyes scanning for the spider and seeing that it had moved away from the couch and back towards the wall. She turned the nozzle on the can and ensured it was pointing in the correct direction before releasing it on the poor unsuspecting spider.
“Don’t worry honey, I’ll handle any spiders and I won’t tell a soul,” Liv promised as you jumped down from the counter and tried to appear as calm and collected as you normally are. Liv walked towards you wrapping her arms around your waist and grinned at you. The two of you stood at nearly the same height when she was wearing her heels.
“Yes, thankyou love,” you nodded dropping a kiss on her cheek in thanks, though your eyes didn’t leave the spider until it had stopped moving completely. You finally looked down into her eyes and huffed when you saw the slight amusement there.
“I’m sorry,” Liv promised. “If it helps my amusement is nothing to do you being afraid of spiders but mostly with how you appear to get near superhuman athleticism when evading them.”
“Yes, I suppose that makes me feel a little better,” you nodded grinning at her when she pressed a kiss to your lips.
“Now, dinner?” Liv grinned. “Shall we go try that new place that just opened up?”
“That sounds wonderful,” you agreed. “And it’ll be my shout if you also get rid of the evidence.”
“Done,” Liv laughed moving to get a tissue and put the weapon away.
“No body, no crime,” you muttered a little darkly watching as the love of your life picked up the body of the spider and threw it in the trash.
