Chapter Text
One shots (Lucissa):
The Coast of Italy, Mediterranean Sea, 1835.
The Kingdom of Aurora was a beautiful one.
It was located off the coast of Italy, a large castle that was facing the Mediterranean Sea, a small village below it.
It was a merchant kingdom, ruled by the fearsome Abraxas Malfoy, and his wife, Penelope, the two of them only having one child together.
A son named Lucius.
And he was a quiet young man, one who followed his parent’s orders without any complaints, even though he had dreams that they would never approve of.
He wanted to sail around the world- he got his obsession with the ocean ever since he learned how to swim, and he knew that he didn’t want to rule over an entire kingdom.
He didn’t want that- that was his parent’s life, the dream that they wanted for him.
But he knew that they'd never support him, meaning that he always snuck out at night, finding himself on a merchant ship, learning how to sail, while knowing that he enjoyed it.
And that day was no different- the young prince finding himself sailing with a small crew, a smile on his face as he stood on the deck, the wind blowing his white blond hair around his face.
He knew though, that his parents wouldn’t be happy with him, especially once they learned that he snuck away again.
Especially on the eve of his nineteenth birthday.
The waves crashed around the bottom of the ship, and the crew shouted orders from behind him, the young man remembering that he wasn’t alone, sailing with a whole crew of people.
But he wished that he was, knowing that he was old enough to make his own decisions, and sail on his own without having his parents complain in his ear.
“You’re a prince, Lucius,” they always told him- his father more than his mother, the older man more stern when it came to him, while his mother was nurturing, spoiling him a little too much.
Sensitive.
“You have to set an example for our people, meaning that you have to stop this.
You have to stop chasing a dream that’ll never happen. It’s a fantasy.”
“It’s not a dream,” he always told them, his tone of voice harsh as his pale gray eyes stared at the water below, always wishing that he was on the ocean, instead of hidden behind the walls of a large stone palace.
“It’s real, father. And I’ll prove it.”
He never did however, proving instead that he was careless and reckless, always putting himself inside the path of danger.
For example, the first ship that he sailed on hit a rocky cove of rocks, the sharpness causing the ship to crash, the crew stranded for a couple of days until they were rescued.
Including the prince.
He didn’t have good luck when it came to sailing, and if only he knew that this expedition wouldn’t be so different, a hurricane striking only a couple of hours later.
And the waters were rough, while the lightning flashed, the bright colors getting the attention of a young mermaid, a couple of years younger than the prince himself.
She was sitting on a rock, her aqua blue eyes staring at the small trident that was in her hand, one of her animal friends telling her that humans used it to brush and smoothen out their hair.
So that’s what she did, brushing it through her bright red locks, only for a flash of light to get her attention, causing her to look at the surface above her, a part of her knowing that she shouldn’t investigate.
“It’s forbidden,” she whispered to herself, before she placed the trident down, her eyes looking towards one of the many shelves that were around the small cavern, which was home to her collection.
She knew that she shouldn’t, but she liked to collect human items, giving them to her bird friend, Scuttle, who told her what each item was, and what they were used for.
And she was there that night after she had a fight with her father- King Triton of the kingdom of Atlantica, who could be overbearing at times.
She was the youngest of seven daughters, meaning that she was the baby of the family, the one that her mother was close to, sharing her love of humans with her.
Eleven years ago though, her mother was murdered by a human himself, meaning that the human world became forbidden after that.
Including the surface.
That didn’t stop her from collecting human items though, meaning that her eyes looked around her, before she took a deep breath, finding herself swimming towards the surface after that, appearing in the middle of a hurricane.
Her eyes widened at the sight in front of her- the ship in flames, and split in half, a rowboat in the distance, most of the humans getting out alive.
I say most, because one man was drowning, getting closer and closer to the bottom of the ocean floor, causing her eyes to widen even more, before she made the best decision of her life.
She saved him.
She swam towards him, before she carried him towards the surface, lying him down onto the warm sand, the early morning sun rising behind her, causing her to realize how many hours have passed.
Her father was going to be so worried.
She just shook those thoughts aside, before she sang to him, using her angelic voice to wake him, his eyes opening, only to squint in the bright sunlight.
He couldn’t see much, only a faint outline of a red headed girl with bright blue eyes, her voice sounding like an Angel that was sent down from Heaven.
It didn’t last long though, because, as soon as a voice appeared in the distance, she disappeared, hiding behind a rock as she watched him get rescued, knowing that she had to see him again.
She didn’t even know his name, but that didn’t stop her from swimming home with a smile on her face, humming to herself, causing her sisters to stare at her in confusion, just in time for their father to swim into the room.
Her oldest sister was Bellatrix, the first in line for the throne, hoping to rule their kingdom with grace and elegance, just like their mother did before her life was tragically ended.
The next oldest was Nova, who was a fashionista through and through, always doing her hair and makeup, making sure that everything was perfect for the many mermen that came after her.
The third oldest were Cassiopeia, Stella, and Astra, three triplets who were alike, but different at the same time, the only sisters that you couldn’t tell apart.
The second youngest though, was Andromeda, who was the rebellious one, the only sister who supported her in her endeavors, helping her keep her secret from their father, who definitely wouldn’t approve.
And they all had star names- her mother, Druella, fascinated by the stars, naming every daughter after a different constellation, knowing which name suited them best.
Except for her.
By the time she came along, her mother was tired of the star names, meaning that she was named after a flower instead.
The daffodil plant.
“Good morning daddy,” she sang, a smile on her face, before she placed a flower in his hair, only to swim away again, leaving both her father and sisters confused by her behavior, none of them understanding what changed in only a couple of hours.
The last time they saw her, Narcissa was getting yelled at by their father, who found out that she went to the surface, angry at the fact that she disobeyed one of his most important rules.
Again.
But their youngest sister has always been a trouble maker, meaning that they mostly stayed out of it, knowing that it was better if they didn’t get involved, none of them wanting to get on their fathers bad side.
“Isn’t it obvious,” one of the triplets muttered, once no one said anything, all of them too shocked to say something, besides the second youngest, who suspected the real reason behind her happiness.
“Narcissa’s in love.”
No one took her words seriously though, meaning that they all went their separate ways, besides Andromeda, who swam off to find her sister, eventually finding her surrounded by a whole community of jellyfish.
“Oh, you just had to see him, Andie,” she gushed as soon as she saw the older mermaid swim towards her, a smile on her face, and a lovesick look in her aqua blue eyes.
“He was the most handsome man that I've ever seen. He was even more handsome than any mermen.”
She went on to explain what happened that evening, telling the older mermaid all about her secret cavern, along with the flashing lights that caught her attention, explaining why she swam towards the surface that day.
She explained the Shipwreck, along with how she saved a human from drowning, carrying him towards a nearby beach, only to leave before she could get spotted.
“I think I'm in love,” she revealed, her words whispered, almost like she was afraid that someone would tell her father, who had many guards, after all, and she didn't want any one of them to overhear the words that she was telling her beloved sister.
Even though that was exactly what happened.
She was unaware that her father sent someone to watch her, the small seahorse overhearing the conversation, causing him to tell the King, who quickly put a stop to his youngest daughter's actions.
He destroyed her cavern, her previous items getting destroyed in front of her eyes, causing her to sob and plead with her father, who didn't stop what he was doing.
Before she knew it, she was surrounded by a pile of rubble, her father ordering her to stay where she was, making it clear to her that he had one of the guards watching her every move, keeping a close eye on her.
That didn't stop her from sneaking away though, the young woman soon swimming into the more forbidden parts of the kingdom, the parts where the sea witch lived.
And she floated in front of her full of confidence, only for her voice to shake with nervousness once she stated why she was there in the first place.
“I want you to turn me into a human.”
Her eyes watched the older witch closely, her octopus-like tentacles moving around her as she swam towards what looked like a dresser, one that was filled with potions and other concoctions.
“A human, you say? My poor, sweet child, that won't be easy. And, like all magic, it'll come with a price.”
She paused, almost like she was expecting the young princess to protest, only to continue speaking, once nothing happened, the young mermaid proving that she wanted this.
“For a potion that's as complicated as this one, I'd need something equally as heavy. Something like your voice.”
“My voice?” The young mermaid whispered, her bright blue eyes filled with dread, filled with the realization that this wasn't a good idea.
But it was too late to back out though, meaning that she finished her train of thought, her nervousness slipping out with every word.
“But without my voice, I can't…”
“You'd have your looks, and your pretty face. Not to mention your body language. The men up there don't like a lot of chatter. After all, they believe a girl who gossips is a bore.”
She flinched, but found herself signing the document, causing a thick cloud of magic to surround her, before she sang, her voice disappearing with every word, until it was gone entirely.
Her tail became a pair of legs after that, and she struggled towards the surface, eventually sitting on a familiar beach, dressed in nothing but a dirty bed sheet, one that was discarded and thrown away.
And she sat there for a couple of minutes, the young woman wondering what would happen now, before a familiar looking man appeared around the corner, his hands in his pockets, and his gray eyes staring at the sea in front of them.
Well, he was, until he noticed the young woman, her bright red hair and aqua blue eyes familiar to him, causing him to remember the mysterious angel who rescued him, the one that his parents always told him wasn't real.
“Hello,” he said, his tone of voice calm, before he walked towards her, his bare feet forming prints in the wet sand, which was cold beneath his toes.
“What's your name?”
She just looked at him, before she opened her mouth, only for no words to come out, causing him to frown, a pit of dread forming in his stomach.
“Have we met before?” He asked, a part of him hoping that she was his mystery girl, only for those hopes to be crushed once she shook her head, telling him everything that he needed to know.
“Can you walk?”
She couldn't, meaning that he helped her towards the palace, his parents not impressed by his need to help her, giving her food to eat and a shelter above her head.
The servants though, were happy to have another girl to spoil, especially one that would later become their future queen.
I mean, it was obvious to them that the young woman shared his love for traveling, the two of them hiding out in his study, bonding over the many books, and knick knacks that were all over the study, covering the walls from head to toe.
And it reminded her of her cavern back home, the smile on his face as he spoke about his travels reminding her of her love for human culture, a part of her having a hard time believing that this was real.
That she was actually there with him.
But it was, and the two of them got even closer as the day passed, the second day appearing before she knew it, the young man taking her into the village below.
Her bright red hair was pulled back by a blue ribbon, and she was wearing a light blue blouse underneath a black colored corset, along with a dark blue skirt, and matching blue flats, her aqua blue eyes looking around her with curiosity.
And the village was a lot more packed than she expected, but she found herself learning more and more about human culture as the hours passed, the young woman soon forgetting about the family that she left behind.
She didn't even think about the fact that her disappearance was affecting them, her father blaming himself for the fact that she left, while her sisters couldn't have cared less, besides Andromeda, who was her best friend.
She was the only one who knew that her younger sister was happy- happier than she was below the surface, the ocean world only holding painful memories for her.
But she was able to forget those moments, finding herself going on a boat ride with the young prince, before she used sign language to tell him her name, her crush going on to compliment her with a smile on his face.
“Narcissa. What a beautiful name for a beautiful woman.”
She blushed, before their rowboat rolled over, causing him to burst into laughter, before he picked her up, the two of them sneaking back into the castle, neither one of them caring about the puddles that trailed behind them.
But it was the third day that held the happiest memory for her- the two of them standing on the deck of a ship, their hands connected while their eyes watched the sun set, the sky being appointed a beautiful orange and pink color.
And they continued standing there for a couple of minutes, before he used his hand to turn to face to the side, her eyes looking at him with confusion at first, eventually widened once she realized what he was going to do.
He was going to kiss her.
And she let him, their lips connecting into a passionate embrace, before she took a deep breath once they pulled away, almost like the wind just crashed into her.
But there was no wind, meaning that the feeling could only mean one thing.
Her voice was back.
“Lucius?” She whispered, her tone of voice hoarse due to under use, as she tested the words on her tongue, her bright blue continuing to look into his pale gray ones.
“Narcissa?” He just asked, his tone of voice filled work confusion, only to step back once she threw herself onto him, the young woman pulling him back into a kiss, her smile the happiest that it's ever been.
She just kissed him, the sun continuing to set in the background, the two of them alone on the deck, the crew not wanting to disturb their private moment.
“I don't understand,” he muttered, once they pulled away, the young woman continuing to hold him close, their hands staying connected through every word.
“I thought you couldn't speak.”
She smiled at his words, before she explained everything that happened, telling him all about her life as a mermaid, including her fathers strict rules, and her obnoxious sisters, who only cared about themselves.
Besides Andie, of course.
And she didn't sugar coat anything that happened, being both truthful and honest, aware that his eyes were wide once she finished her overwhelming tale.
“You did all that just to be with me?”
Her eyes continued looking at him, before she kissed him for a third time, their foreheads connected once they pulled away, showing off the love that they shared.
“I didn't know what else to do,” she whispered, a tear falling down her cheek, only for his hand to wipe it away, before he kissed the top of her head.
“I knew that my father wouldn't approve, but I also didn't want to let you go.”
There was a short silence after that, before he spoke again, the moon high in the sky at this point, causing the two of them to stand underneath the stars.
“Do you miss them?” He asked quietly, their eyes staring at the ocean one last time, before he led them towards their quarters, the two of them undressing for the night.
And they were lying in bed by the time she answered, their bodies pressed together, and their arms wrapped around each other, the two of them enjoying each other's body heat.
“Not if it means I can spend the rest of my life with you.”
They got married after that, the two of them having a seaside wedding, getting the surprise of a lifetime once her father showed up, giving her a smile and a hug.
“I'm proud of you,” he whispered to his youngest daughter, tears in his eyes as he looked at his son-in-law, who nodded, almost like he knew what her father wanted to ask him.
I'll take care of her.
“I love you daddy,” she whispered, tears running down her face, before they pulled away, the older man having a new appreciation for his youngest daughter.
Not only did she prove him wrong about humans, she also stood up for what she believed in.
Granted, she didn't do it in the best way, sure, but she stood up for what she believed in nonetheless, her love for the young man reuniting both their kingdoms.
After all, the human and mermaid world's lived in fear of each other for a long time.
That was, until one mermaid princess fell in love with a human, risking her entire kingdom just to be with him, even going so far as to give up her voice.
And, as the years passed by, they would go on to rule over the kingdom of Aurora, having a son together, one who looked like a mixture of both his parents.
Draco was his name, the two of them naming him after her mother's tradition of naming children after the stars, the only thing that she had left of the late mermaid queen.
And they couldn't have been happier together.
