Chapter Text

Trying to summon a demon was not how Tommy thought the sleep over with Tubbo
Purpled and Ranboo would go. Purpled’s basement floor had a pentacle drawn in white chalk with red candles at each point. The center of the pentacle had a strange symbol that reminded Tommy of a boar but more human in a way.

Ranboo had mentioned how they didn’t think a chalk line could hold back a demon -Tommy had to physically restrain himself from rolling his eyes- so Tubbo had lined the chalk circle with a circle of salt, which seemed to calm Ranboo.

It’s not like Tommy didn’t believe in demons, he did but a ritual found in a random book that Purpled’s older brother gave him didn’t seem like it would be legit. Tommy’s met his fair share of demons, anyone who lived on the street for any length of time has, but it was always a few quick words that were horribly pronounced was all it took. Not whatever the fuck this was.

———

Tommy was right nothing happened, they did the chants standing in specific spots in specific poses but nothing happened. Tubbo had actually seemed bummed out about not getting to meet a demon- like it would be fun- and made a comment about grabbing the Oreos from the snack cabinet.

The idea of being in the room with the pentacle any longer seemed to terrify Ranboo so they made a comment about getting drinks for everyone. It didn’t seem to cross Purpled’s mind that Ranboo didn’t know where the cups were until they were already on the main floor of the house, resulting in him making a mad dash for the stairs.

Alone in the basement Tommy had time to actually look at the symbols in the middle of the pentacle. He was right about it looking like a human boar, crouching down Tommy started to wipe away the symbol. When his hand touched the chalk outline there was a blinding flash, knocking Tommy off his feet.

The sound of heavy boots meeting the concrete floor echoed in Tommy’s ears as a hand grabbed his shirt and yanked him off the ground. With his eyes screwed shut it seemed as though time had stopped, his cotton shirt scratching against his skin in the cool damp basement. Tommy’s feet just short of touching the floor. Hectic uncontrollable breathing from Tommy contrasting the deep even breaths of the demon holding him.

A huff left the demon's mouth as Tommy dropped to the floor. All that was echoing through his head was ‘oh shit’ on loop. Flinging his eyes open Tommy finally saw the demon.

It looked like a normal buff guy, minus the long pink hair and a crown sitting atop its head. Dressed in a poet's shirt and pants similar to jeans the only thing threatening about it was the red eyes and look of malcontent across its face.

A deep sigh left the demon as it yanked Tommy to his feet. A bored look erasing the malcontent.

“You know I can hear your thoughts right?” Its eyes cutting through any response Tommy could muster.

“Uh… what um … no”

“You’re in shock, that explains a lot.” The demon had the audacity to sound miffed.

This bitch

“I’ll have you know that I have met many demons before you” Tommy boldly said.

“Really?” A layer of sarcasm covered the word

“Yes! And none of them have ever been as high maintenance as YOU” rage shaking Tommy’s body.

“Well you didn’t have to summon me”

“I’m not the one who wanted to summon you” Tommy’s bewildered expression seemed to convince the demon of his words.

“Then where is the person who wanted to summon me?” Curiosity piqued in the demon.

“He’s- I’m not dumb enough to answer that.”

“You were literally about to throw them under the proverbial bus, you child.”

“I am NOT a child you asshat!” Tommy’s rage was palpable as a fond look crossed the demon's face.

“They would love you.” His words sent Tommy in a tailspin. The demon proceeded to flick Tommy’s forehead and vanish.

The red haze Tommy finally noticed covered the room dissipated as the basement door was flung open.

“WERE GOING TO WATCH FINDING NEMO WITHOUT YOU” Tubbo screamed into the dark basement and slammed the door with Tommy halfway up the stairs.

———

Waking up halfway off the couch, mussels stretched and pinched in uncomfortable positions was not a good way to start the morning. Detangling himself from the couch and avoiding the people sleeping on the floor Tommy walked across the house to the kitchen.

Tommy stumbled across Purpled’s older brother Punz and his friends Dream and Sapnap making enough pancakes for a small army. The scene by itself was funny because it was obvious that Punz was the only one out of the three of them that knew how to cook; and he was the only one not covered in flour.

“Hey Tommy” Punz greeted him, subtly letting his friends know that they needed to stop throwing four on each other or they would be made fun of by a 15 year old.

“Ello” was Tommy’s only response

“Want pancakes?” asks Punz

“Sure”

“Oh by the way have you seen my book? It’s really big, brown leather cover has weird stuff on the cover?” The change in topic was as subtle as a lion's roar.

“Oh yeah, purpled said you gave it to him” Tommy humored him.

“Ah”

“The spells in it are weird” Tommy says nonchalantly, ready to cause chaos.

“I’m sorry”Punz responds in surprise.

“You did what” sapnap adds shocked

“Please tell me it didn’t work” Dream snaps to attention.

“Umm… it didn’t? Like we tried to do a spell in the basement, the chalk might still be there, and it didn’t work”

“Oh thank god” sighs sapnap

“Did you have any weird dreams?”

“Ok here are your pancakes” Punz hands Tommy a plate with five large pancakes, gesturing to the table that has all the toppings.

“Why are you asking me about my dreams Dream?” Tommy snaps sarcastically.

“Because some of them target dreams” he states like it’s the most common thing ever.

“Those spells were REAL?” Layering the lie of not successfully summoning a demon.

“I take it that if you thought the spells were real you wouldn’t have done anything” relief evident in his tone.

“Yep”

“Ok, eat your pancakes”

“But did you have any weird dreams?” Thinking back on his dreams Tommy realized he vividly remembered multiple different kinds of symbols.

“….Yes”

“Oh shit” muttered sapnap.

“Don’t draw any symbols from your dreams”

“Ok Dream.”
