Dust has been in the cafeteria of the multiverse hub for a while now and it was starting to get too loud for him to handel on his own. He knew Nightmare was the only person capable of making him feel sane, safe, and calm.
However, there was one small problem. Nightmare was gone. He had left to take care of some business and feed the rabbits.
The first thing Nightmare noticed when he stepped into the front door of the building was a large amount of negative energy coming from where he had left Dust sitting at the cafeteria.
Without further hesitation, he immediately rushed to go confront and sooth the smaller skeleton’s worries.
The moment Nightmare was close enough to Dust, he immediately pulled him into a hug, wrapping his tentacles around his small beloved skeleton.
Dust, relieved to have his boss and datemate next to him, lay his head on Nightmare’s shoulder and a soft quiet purr emerged from both of them
Nightmare could sense Dust’s distress from the moment he was in the building and was quick to go confront his hooded mate.
“Are you okay, Dusty? I could sense the negativity radiating from you all the way to the front door. What is wrong, my dear?” he asked in a hushed deep voice.
Dust mumbled something about it not mattering under his breath. Nightmare was not having that at all if it was visibly hurting his small beloved skeleton so much.
“You know you can tell me anything, right dear? Come on, Dusty, tell me what is bothering you so,” he said, raising Dust’s hand and intertwining their phalanges together and squeezing the hand.
Dust cuddled closer. “it was starting to get too loud… and i was starting to really miss you” he whispered in response.
Nightmare shifted Dust’s position so they were directly facing each other and raised his left hand to Dust’s cheekbone, gently caressing it, causing Dust to look up at him. Dust let out a small sigh of relief as all his problems felt like they had gone away.
“You know I love you more than anything in the entire multiverse, do you not, Dust?” Nightmare asked
“yeah, i know, you make that very clear when we’re alone…i… i love you too, nightmare…” Dust responded, his smile getting slightly wider and magic heating up his face in that beautiful blue blush Nightmare secretly adored so much.
Nightmare brought the hand he had on Dust’s cheekbone down to hold his head by the chin. He brought Dust closer, their teeth clicking together in a soft kiss.
Dust melted into the kiss and wrapped his arms around Nightmare’s neck and pulled him impossibly closer so they were flush against each other.
Dust manifested his magic into an ecto tongue and brushed it against Nightmare’s teeth, asking for an entrance, which Nightmare was more than happy to accept.
The kiss lasted for a few minutes, but just long enough before they pulled apart. They were both left with flushed faces, panting breathlessly for air.
“Do you want me to teleport us to your room so we can finish were we left off?” Nightmare offered, still aware they were in public.
“i don’t really feel up for that, but i would like to see the kids again, so that would be nice,” Dust said. He really didn’t want to be left alone for the rest of the day now that Nightmare was already by his side.
They appeared in Dust’s room, scaring poor little Tinsel back inside his box in the process. Dustbunni was also awakened by the teleportation.
Dust saw this and let go of Nightmare and went to confront the large startled grey rabbit.
”shh, it’s okay, tinsel, i didn’t mean to scare you. papa’s sorry. shh, it’s okay. it’s okay” Dust reassured the big rabbit in his arms, gently petting him to calm his lil boi down.
He also noticed Dustbunni starting to nod off to sleep again, putting Tinsel down in his box, he picked Dustbunni up and they clung to his shoulder trying to hide their face in his hoodie.
Then there was Salty… she was best off being alone for the time being. Dust figured Salty wouldn’t be up for any physical contact with anyone right now, so, with his lil Dustbunni still in his arms, he went back to where he had left Nightmare and got back to cuddling with him (which Dustbunni greatly appreciated)
It wasn’t very long before the three of them fell asleep
When Nightmare woke up, he looked over to the digital clock on Dust’s desk. It was nearly nine thirty in the evening and they still haven’t eaten dinner.
Nightmare almost didn’t want to get up, not wanting to disturb the small skeleton laying on top of him. Dust looked cute being curled up to Nightmare’s side, his head resting on his chest and a hand on the sleeping bunny’s back
But it was getting late, and Nightmare bet Dust would also be hungry, so reluctantly, Nightmare reached over and gently shook Dust’s shoulder a bit. Dust made a noise in complaint, nuzzling his head further into Nightmare’s neck, not wanting to be waked up from his nap.
“Dust, wake up,” Nightmare muttered
“five more minutes,” Dust wined, but he also wanted to eat something.
“Do you at least want to eat something before you go back to sleep?”
“you’re right. i am a little hungry… fine,” Dust hesitantly agreed and got up from where his skull was resting between Nightmare’s collar bone and cervical vertebrae.
Dust picked Dustbunni up into his arms, and allowed himself to be led to the dining room by Nighttime, to eat some dinner before they both got back to bed.
The next morning, Dust woke up and fed the rabbits.
Seeing that Salty Rabbit was in a much better mood, Dust gave her a quick gentle pat on the head and scratched her behind the ears a little bit.
Knowing the gang didn’t have any missions to go on, he joined a sleeping Nightmare back in bed, gently kissed him on the cheek, and cuddled with him for the next 30 minutes or so before finally putting a start on a lazy day together.
