Chapter Text
A year ago, overlords started going missing, it was horrifying, they disappeared without a trace, then their voices appeared over the radio broadcasts, but they weren’t just voices they were screams.
Soon after, the demon behind all of this was revealed, Alastor, or the radio demon as hells subjects called him, a few overlords considered him to be a joke and attempted to take him down, they were all quickly added to his broadcasts.
Carmilla would only admit this to one person, her closest friend, the man that stood by her side through everything, from fighting beside her in battles to cooking soup for her daughters when they were ill, Zestial.
“He may be young, and new, but he’s clearly powerful, and I fear of what he may do” Carmilla explained, Zestial had come by that evening noticing her unrest during the recent overlord meeting, in the last month Alastor had killed 3 other overlords, it was setting her on edge, he’d brought a bottle of wine, and the two sat on the couches in her home, discussing what to do “Thou understands we behold more power, He is not one worthy of thyn’s fear” Zestial assured her “I don’t fear him, I fear what he is capable of” she said.
“What doth thou mean?” Zestial asked, Carmilla sighed, placing her wine glass on the table in front of her “Clara and Odette, they had to watch me die” She explained, Zestial already knew this of course.
Carmilla had told him one night, explained the story of her death, her ex-husband, Odette’s birth father, was part of a gang, they came to their home in the dead of night, and brought the three of them to one room, forced her daughters to watch as they shot Carmilla 3 times, they waited two days to shoot the two girls, they found each other in hell soon after, but the memory haunted all of them.
“We weren’t separated for long, but-” She sighed “Zestial you have no idea of the pain I felt for those days I was without my daughters, the ones I’d spent my life protecting, I can’t bear the thought of losing them to a ruthless man like Alastor”.
“I wouldn’t say ruthless” Said a voice laced in static, Carmilla and Zestial looked to the corner behind them, glow and behold Alastor stood there, leaning against the wall “Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves” He explained, Carmilla pulled her gun, hidden between the couch cushions, and zestial began to summon his magic “No need for that” Alastor said “I just wanted to talk.”
“What could thou possibly wish to discuss?” Zestial asked “Well your conversation seemed riveting!” He said, “You fear being separated from your daughters” He said to Carmilla “And you know that won’t happen” He said to zestial “Good news, I have zero intention of ever separating you from your daughters” Alastor said “You…don’t?” Carmilla asked, lowering her gun ever so slightly “no, of course not, I admit, I’m a sadistic, murderous, psychopath, but I’m not that psychotic!” Alastor argued “And you have a valuable point” He said motioning to Zestial with his staff “You are far too powerful, I would never dream of fighting either of you” Alastor explained “Why’s that” Carmilla asked, Alastor sighed.
“In the unlikely chance I somehow manage to get past your skilled fighting style and angelic weapons” He started “Your arachnid-fellow here would turn me inside out in the most painful way possible” Alastor said, “don’t think I require any further explanation” he said.
Zestial looked to Carmilla, Zestial shrugged and Carmilla nodded, she put her gun away, and Zestial stopped his magic. “Is that all thou wished to discuss” Zestial asked, Alastor sighed, he placed his staff against the wall, he began fidgeting with his hands “I require a favour from you Madame Carmine” Alastor started to explained “There is a man, down here in hell, im currently hunting him down, although he is a… how would you say… a slippery little bitch” He said “He’s also a terrible man, I will not go into detail of his… career, however it involves a risk to your daughters” Alastor explained.
Zestial took note of his stance, he seemed nervous while talking about this topic, his was fidgeting with his hands, pacing while explaining, avoiding eye contact at all costs, demeanour was lacking in his usual confidence.
“What sort of risk?” Carmilla asked “Are you familiar with a man names Albert Monte” Alastor asked, Carmilla nodded “He’s been buying from me for 5 years now, massive shipments” She explained, Zestial noticed that the ears upon Alastor’s head seemed to pin back slightly, he seemed to mutter something under his breath, then his ears straightened back up, “ok, I need you to cut off supply with him” Alastor said.
Carmilla and zestial looked at him in surprise “you need me to what?” Carmilla asked “I need you to cut off supply with him, ensure he no longer receives your weapons, whatever you have to do” he said blatantly, he was practically pleading with her. “Why should I do this?” Carmilla asked, Zestial placed a hand on her shoulder “One should be more curious into the nature of the favour” Zestial explained “Why does thou wish for some random man to no longer receive such weaponry?” He asked, “I don’t believe I need to tell you that” Alastor said, he crossed his arms, moving himself to a more defensive manner, “What trouble doth he pose to Clara and Odette?” Zestial asked moving towards Alastor and away from Carmilla, who looked on at the encounter, also noticing Alastor’s nervous appearance.
“I-” “how do you know him?” Zestial then asked, Alastor looked at him like a deer in headlights, then he took a deep breath, moving his hands his to hips “One day, I will tell you that” Alastor said “Un ready to face the reality?” Zestial asked, Alastor nodded. He moved to the side and over to Carmilla.
“Albert’s career involves the kidnapping of women and children” He explained walking towards her “During a recent invasion on his land, I discovered some of his plans, to take your daughters and take over your entire angelic supply” Alastor finally stood before Carmilla, who seemed horrified “He planned on holding them hostage in exchange for your company during the next delivery, and fi they didn’t go, they would torture what ever poor soul went in favour until they either died or revealed any information, and repeat the cycle” Alastor told her.
“So, you broke into my house, to warn me of some psychopath who wants to kidnap my daughters” She said, he nodded, “why?” She asked. Alastor shrunk in on himself “Someday” He said, she nodded “I’ll cancel his orders and prevent him from receiving anything directly from me, but the black market is a tricky bitch” She said, Alastor laughed “That’s enough to stop him” Alastor explained “In return, you have our aid” She said looking to zestial who nodded approvingly “That’s really not necessary” Alastor started to protest, but Carmilla raised a hand “You stop me from supplying a crazy man, I help you, its simple as that” She told him. Alastor nodded and thanked the two, wished them luck, and disappeared into the shadows.
Carmilla alerted her daughters a few minutes later, and told them to be careful, she decided to ban them from delivering orders until she received all clear from Alastor.
One week later, as Carmilla was sat in her office, zestial accompanying her, the radio in the corner came to life with static, that changed in pitch, it startled the two overlords, Carmilla was going to turn it off, until one word came through “help” laced in static, it was almost impossible to make out, but it was Alastor, and he needed help.
Carmilla grabbed two guns and a dagger for zestial, she walked over to him, and he used his powers to locate and teleport to Alastor.
----
Alastor felt the drugs working through his system, the cuts that littered his body from angelic blades, some deeper than others, burned and ached, the blood seeping out of some of the bigger ones, the man holding him up by the neck, was beginning to take of Alastor’s coat, which was easy enough as it was practically torn to shreds given the several injures he had suffered, he could only hope that Carmilla had received his message.
That’s when he heard the most horrifying screams, he’d killed and tortured many, but nothing, absolutely nothing compared to this, he heard gunshots go off, the grip on his neck gave out immediately, and he dropped to the ground, trying to catch his breath and remain conscious.
He saw a tall black figure kneel in front of him, was he talking?
“Al”
“Alas-”
“Alastor!”
Oh it was.
The figure was asking him something, but he couldn’t quite make it out, everything hurt, he had God knows how many drugs flowing through his system, he felt so distant from the world “I- can- hear us” another voice said, more feminine, and familiar. “he’s- hurt” the first one said, he was really struggling to hold onto consciousness.
“Alastor” the feminine voice said, his body held itself to together to make out the next sentence “let go” was all she said, he felt unconscious pull him into the darkness, and he accepted it.
