He is stupid…
So fucking stupid.
Now the powerful overlord sits in front of the majestic princess of hell, staring down at him (Because he is currently sitting on the floor, like a loser he is). Her eyes pierce his soul, and he doesn’t dare to meet her gaze, the floor seems more interesting.
This all started hours ago. Damn this habit of waking up in the middle of the night just to grab some snacks. Ok, maybe this is mostly his own fault. He can’t risk being caught eating those unhealthy treats, especially after he already shows his composed and neat persona in front of everyone at the hotel. So, being a prideful idiot, he decided to get those snacks when everyone was already sleeping. It was the perfect time for him alone, just to let go of the powerful facade everyone known about.
He is not the radio demon.
Right now, he is just Alastor.
The night was perfect. He could enjoy these snacks alone, bring some to this room, and act like nothing happened the next morning. HA! How wrong he was to think that something smooth can happen to him. The darkness that enveloped him suddenly vanished, replaced by the light that was enveloping the entire room.
Naturally, his body got rigid, sensing danger. He turned his head fast as a radio filter screeched throughout the entire room, his eyes going dial until he realized who it was.
A pair of eyes stared at him.
Silence…
“KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!”
“AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!
Letting out a very unmanly screech, Alastor jerked back, colliding with the fridge’s door. It didn’t hurt per se,, but his heart was pumping loudly as he broke into profuse sweat.
shit,shit,shit,SHIT-
“W-what are you doing at this hour?!” Charlie asked, her horns out and she is in her demon form. Fuck! She was furious. He will die. She will humiliate him in front of all sinners and demons, showing that the powerful demon was nothing more than a mere normal one.
In a panic, Alastor considered melting into the shadow. Yes, he could do that he-
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
He couldn’t move, his body literally frozen driven by his deer instinct.
Before he could spiral further into panic, the princess widened her eyes and gasped. She slowly retracts her horns, her face returning to the usual appearance. She took a deep breath, closed her eyes, then opened them.
“Ok, ok, sorry let’s start over.” She inhaled, “What are you doing here? In the middle of the night?”
Alastor stared. Okay…
“Is that what you're most concerned about?” He was too shocked to care that his voice slipped out without filter.
The princess put on the most forceful smile Alastor had ever seen, “Well… I mean, of course! It’s not like I want to know WHY someone needs to sneak to the fridge like a burglar…” her hands clapped in front of her chest, “Despite it technically being fine and free, I mean- totally nonjudgemental at all!”
“Seriously, Princess, I know you are naive, but I hope you are not this foolish.” Alastor anxiety dissipates just like that, as quickly as it had come. Because he panicked over nothing?!
“Haha, ha...” Charlie sighed, placing one hand on her forehead. Her hair came loose again and horns grew back. She opened her eyes, revealing the crimson irrises with golden pupils, staring at him with boredom.
“Yes, never mind. I'm too tired to hold back that look, sorry, I'll just relax, ugh, I shouldn't look like this in front of others” she took another deep breath.
“Okay… I don't want to ask it but, are you the radio demon?”
Alastor stared for a second, “Yes…?”
“Why are you on the floor?”
“Uuuh…”
“Why are you dressed like that?”
“I-it’s…”
“Are you SURE you are the radio demon?”
Aaagh! He can't take it anymore!
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I know I lied to you! Yes, I mean I AM THE RADIO DEMON! But not someone you hoped for! Haha! Yes I pretty much tricked all of you! It’s so funny how you all fall for it- I mean I’m sorry for all of that! I have no choice, everyone is coming for my throat. I just need a place to stay! Even this place looks stupid and I made it worse hoping no one ever comes here to stay! Oh sorry for sneaking at this hour; I got hungry! But we really should stock up on more food! I’m sorry! Please don't kick me out!”
The room went silent only Alastor's heavy breath.
Yep he let out his plan.
Because he was being fucking coward!
Alastor stared at the floor, sweat trickling down his temples. He could feel Charlie's eyes boring into him.
“Is that why you’ve come here? Just for that.”
Haha, he died. Alastor couldn't bring himself to answer, mostly because his throat hurt after his panicked confession.
Charlie continued, “Do you never want to help?”
Alastor looked up, “I- never said I wanted to help? I said it’s for entertainment, though it was a lie too.” Yeah, he never said he will ‘help’ her, perhaps just protect this place?
The princess sighed again,it has been a very long night for her. She appeared tired and disheveled, her face hardened, horns and tail out, but she also looks more relaxed than before. Alastor studied her, is this the real princess of hell? He’d always sensed that beneath the pleasant exterior of a very nice princess, underneath she is very powerful. And now she is fully showing this in front of him.
Notice this fact, Alastor felt a flicker of pride. Perhaps, he’d been right about her all along.
“Ok, you can stand up,” Charlie said, “I don't know why you’re still on the floor.”
Oh, right. He was still sitting. Honestly, standing up felt disrespectful, but he did it anyway. Alastor towered over Charlie, yet he still felt small, he always felt this way toward anything. Charlie seemed to notice how silent and nervous Alastor is. She put her smile on, a failed attempt to look soft.
“Am I scaring you?” She asked.
Alastor wanted to laugh. He wasn’t scared; he was downright terrified. Not because of her form, but mostly due to the situation he put himself in. However, Charlie seemed to be asking about her look more, so he answered, “If you mean am I scared because of how you look right now, sorry to dissapoint, but I’ve seen worse.” At his words, Charlie's shoulders relaxed ever so slightly.
Then he added, “I am just scared you will kick me out.” Well, she found out, now all he can do is convince her to not do that.
Charlie's smile dropped, but she put on a more relaxed expression as her mouth went into pout. “I must say I’m disappointed.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, not because of that, I mean, how you lie to us. You are just using this place for your own safety, you could have just said that in the first place you know.”
Alastor scoffed, “A radio demon telling he wants a place to stay because he is currently homeless in front of everyone? Oh what a funny tragedy! I wonder where I should put my face after that!”
Charlie rolled her eyes, “Yeah, well, it’s better than tricking everyone, it’s not nice to use lies.” She looked down, “But then again, I did that too, not very much different huh?”
Alastor raised an eyebrow at her sudden solemn mood, he really doesn't understand. If in front of him now is ‘real’ Charlie, why does she need to put on her happy-go-lucky act? It made her look stupid and naive. It would be better if people respected her. This hotel might work, she could just command everyone.
He means… It worked for him.
“So, you’ll let me stay?” Alastor couldn't help but ask, if she decided to kick him out because she now knew he is useless to be kept here, he’d have to use his last ability: begging.
Charlie looked up, her face amused, “Well, if only you really help me for this project, what do you think deer?”
He hated that nickname, “I can’t promise.”
“You still can protect this place if something happens?”
Alastor hummed, “That can be done, I mean I prefer not to get involved in anything, but…” he trailed off, then noticed she glared at him. Uh-oh, he’d gotten too cocky, “F-fine! I can do that! I’m still strong despite being like this!”
Hearing that, Charlie's face reverted back to her sweet self, she smiled widely, “Good! Nice to work with you Al!” she extended her hand for him to take.
Alastor studied her hand carefully, now a bit wary of her sudden change in mood. But he couldn’t help but sighed; he will play along.
He took her hand, shaking it tightly, “Well then, a pleasure to be involved, haha! That’s clearly a lie! But who am I to comment! I can't refuse a request from the princess herself can I?” Smoothly he put his radio filter on and switched himself to be the charming radio demon everyone knew.
Charlie seemed shocked but smiled nonetheless, making him forget how powerful she looked before.
“You can be yourself anywhere here, you know.” She winked after freeing her hand from his.
Alastor chuckled, “Oh, do not worry, the cat’s already out of the bag. It can be said for you too, princess.”
He coughed to his hand and closed the fridge after gathering some snacks.
“Okay! It seems like it's too late, we better go to sleep! Have a horrible dream, dear!” Alastor’s confident tone really didn’t match his rushed steps as he almost slammed himself to the kitchen door.
“Shit!” He dropped a piece of bread, staring at it for seconds and stiffly picking it up.
After closing the kitchen door, Alastor sighed and melted into the shadow heading back to his room.
These are going to be hellish days.
Ha!
