[occurs in an alternative universe where total drama didn't happen, and ezekiel + mike have known each other since kids. both are 18+ in this and are roommates.]
The night was warm as the sky turned from a painted yellow-orange to a deep blue, glittering stars scattered as far as the eye could see. And from the small patch of grass in front of their apartment building, Ezekiel and Mike had a perfect view of everything. They'd originally planned to go out earlier, but they didn't end up going outside until well after one in the morning. Not the best idea, but they were too energized to care.
They laid out a soft blanket and two large bowls of snacks, sitting down and wrapping another blanket around both of them. There wasn't usually much to look at in the sky, the stars were always the same, but they were feeling lucky. Who knows, maybe they'd see a UFO. (Although, that train of thought might've been just the sleepiness and running on three cans of monster talking.)
They quietly chattered at each other, hopping from a game of I spy, to worst movies they'd seen, to miscellaneous noises, and so on. Eventually it had gone silent, but the others presence was comforting enough that it wasn't torturous.
After a few minutes of peaceful stargazing, Mike broke the silence with a strange question.
"Do you believe in alternative universes?"
Ezekiel turned towards him, an expression of confusion plastered on his face. "Alternative universes?"
"Yeah, like a place that's still like this one, but different things are happening."
"I think so, yeah. Why do you ask, eh?"
The dark brunette started pulling up some of the grass, piling it on Ezekiel's leg. "I've been thinking about it lately. What do you think we're doing in a different universe? Do you think we're rich?"
The other laughed softly, leaning back on his hands. "That'd be cool. I wanna be rich."
"Or maybe we're on like.. A TV show!"
"Why would we go on a TV show?"
"For money, probably. Maybe that's how we get rich."
"Well, how *much* money, eh?"
"Umm.. A million dollars!"
"A *million* dollars? I'd sell my soul for that much." They laughed in unison, Ezekiel joining in with the grass pulling, adding to Mike's pile. "What would we do with the money?"
"Buy a huge mansion."
"Oh, that's true. Would it just be us living there?"
"Well, Leo could probably move in if he wanted to. He is your *boyfriend* and all.." Mike drawled out the word 'boyfriend', laughing as he was lightly shoved.
"That'd be awesome, eh. I always wanted to be on TV."
"Maybe I'd meet a special someone, too. Maybe you still meet Leo in that universe."
"I better." Mike laughed at his response.
The air was pleasant as they fell quiet again, finally beginning to eat the snacks they put out.
"Hey, Zeke?"
"Hm?"
"Do you think we're friends in that universe?"
Ezekiel looked up at the sky, smiling softly. A gentle, warm breeze sailed through them. "I hope so."

"Ugh.. I had the weirdest dream last night." Mike yawned and rubbed his eyes, leaning his chin in his hand.
"What was it about, eh?" Ezekiel put a plate of eggs and hash browns in front of him, sitting across from him with his own plate.
Mike scrunched up his nose, scratching his neck awkwardly. "Well.. Remember the conversation we had this morning?"
