The Gifted and Her Identity
“DARINA!!” I heard my Mom call me from the balcony as I was training myself in the yard, Ryder and Connor ran towards me as they finally took notice of where I was. The sky was decorated with the shining ball of fire and with a few wispy clouds which means that I am free to go to the market near the Lost Souls Grove where he lives.
“Mom you don’t have to scream at the top of your lungs, you should use that at night.” In just a heartbeat Mom’s face painted red and she slapped my shoulder feeling shy with the words I’ve spit. Ryder and Connor managed to steal my wand running in the corridor of the house while I run towards my Mom in the main hall of the mansion, we managed to overrun the twin.
“RYDER! CONNOR! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU NOT TO STEAL YOUR SISTER’S WAND!!!” with the wand in Ryder’s hand, they just ran around the place teasing Mom as always, suddenly I saw a young adult woman with red hair that covered one eye. She has a single magic line in the face near her eye, she simply bows and then walks away.
“Mom, I have to go to the market today,” the afterimage of the lady was fading away just when Ry’s and Conny’s laughter echoed through the hallways. While Mom turned and looked at me scanning me from head to toe as if teasing me.
“But Dary, you just visited someone’s house yesterday and you did not even tell me where,” my face turned crimson when I remembered Lance’s reaction when I left a basket of fruits and a hefty amount on his doorstep where he caught me, he wasn’t able to recognize me but I was.
“Dary, you're still a young baby, I can’t have a grandchild this early.” She commented as she cups my face in her hands Mom was around mid-30 just a month early from Dad’s, they both caught each other at the Academy when Dad was a student fighting for the Visionary position. At present, Mom is a teacher at the Academy while Dad is the Director of Magic which is directly under the Bureau.
“Mom, I only visited a friend from the nearby village.” Mom’s dark hazel eyes widened with excitement as I shared with her the news but I immediately cut it off with the words that escaped from my mouth.
“I wouldn’t be able to bring them here just so you know,” as I picked Ryder who wants to get carried and so is Connor since they are both light, I managed to do so. Dad opened the door and to his surprise Mom hugged him tight, Conny and Ry covered their eyes, as they both know the drill.
“You’ll be enrolling in Easton next month, right?” softly asked with a skeptic look on his face as we all enter the snack room, where Tibet prepared the best snacks for us. Mom and Dad sat in front of me while the boys chose to sit beside me cornering me on both sides.
“Yes, Dad, it was what me and Mom planned since its both your alma matter and I can’t wait to meet your friends there, I answered with a hint of glee in my voice which made everyone looked at me with curious look as if they’re alienated by my reaction.
“Whatttt.. I was just stating my expectation why are you all looking at me like I just stole gramp’s pants on his closet.” They all burst out laughing at my statement, Ry nudge my elbow waiting for me to dump a food in his mouth while Conny started to eat gracefully like a mature old guy.
“Dad, I already ask Mom’s permission I’m planning to visit the nearby market since I’m gonna go shopping for my school supplies.” Dad simply grab something in his pocket only for us to find out that he already prepared his gold card that consist almost infinity of gold coins.
“You mother and I, already expected about this one and since the academy already gave you list of various school supplies you can surely identify them and buy them yourself,” I immediately rose from my seat and hugged both of my parents which made Conny and Ry’s head lean sidewards as if questioning what I’m doing seconds later, all of us, we are already hugging.
The path to Lost Souls Grove market is almost 10 minutes from the mansion and its not the best place to buy supplies for the academy but I have to meet him, the person who will soon introduce himself as one of the strongest students in the academy. A sign that allows to recognize the Grove is a tall clock tower that is present in every town market just like what we have in Hurlykill Hatch. I immediately landed down at the side of the tower where a lot of people are lurking and kept my broom in my pocket dimension, it’ll be better than allowing someone to keep my broom. The noise of the crowd and vendors are quite irritating as for someone who rarely go outside the territory of the infamous Jobs however it was also relaxing to feel the mana in the air and it makes me feel excited and flustered at the same time. If my memory serves me right, he will enter at the east side of the market as he just left the mansion which his old man forbade him to do to protect his identity, he will buy his usual favorite cream puffs and a policeman discovers him. After that event, Brad Coleman notices that Mash doesn't have a mark and goes to Mash's house to find him. Once there, Brad hurts Regro and after an "intense" fight with Mash, they accord that Mash will go to the magic school in order to maintain their peaceful life. Mash agrees and, in that process, Mash set his goal to become a Divine Visionary.
A soft bump on my shoulder made me lose my balance and I fall unto the ground and it made my butt hurt, very much. A hand suddenly appeared in front of me offering to help me stand, and so I grabbed it while dusting myself off, he picked up his silver coins which made me realized something as I let go of his hands. I was stoned right where I stand the moment I looked up and our eyes met. A boy with an average height, his muscular build cannot be hidden in his white polo that is cleaning buttoned up to his neck and on his wrist. He has this cute black bowl-cut of a hair that is softly styled on a side and pale skin with a slight tan. But what made me realize when I held his hand is the tightness of his grip and the no mana circuit in his palm, as a girl who grew up with people with strong mana and magic around me, I became sensitive with it making me two of a kind in our lineage for someone who can immediately distinguish a gifted person and those who are not. Mash Vandead, I was about to speak my mind but he already rushed towards the shop, obviously to buy his favorite cream puffs. Suddenly, an old guy bumped into Mash which started the whole turns of events.
