Part 1:
Poltergeist: This is a 1982 horror film by Tobe Hooper. However, it’s rumored this film was actually directed by Steven Spielberg, who couldn’t be officially credited due to contractual obligations while working on E.T. It’s about a family who’s house is haunted, with the ghosts kidnapping their youngest daughter, Carol. It ended up getting a series of films. This film is said to be cursed, with many saying because they used actual dead remains while filming. Four actors from the films died when they were being filmed or shortly after. This included Heather O’Rourke, who played Carol, who died from a cardiac arrest at age 12, Dominique Dunn, who played Dana, who was killed by her boyfriend at age 22, Julian Beck, who played Kane in Poltergeist II, who died from stomach cancer at age 60, and Will Sampson, who played Taylor in Poltergeist II, who died after a heart lung transplant at age 53. Also while filming Poltergeist II, Sampson even performed a legitimate exorcism.
The Exorcist: Speaking of exorcisms, this is a 1973 film by William Peter Blatty, being about a little girl named Reagan who is possessed by a demon and needs an exorcism. This film is also said to be cursed, due to what happened while filming. A famous example being what happened to Jack MacGowran, who played Burke Dennings. Before the film released, he died of influenza complications. Vasiliki Maliaros, who played Father Karras’s mother, also died before the film’s release, dying from natural causes. While filming, the set actually burned down after a bird flew into the circuit box. The actresses Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn, who played Reagan and her mother, both injured their backs while filming.
The Hope Diamond: This is an over 45 carat diamond that was made in India in the 17th century. It’s said to be cursed, bringing tragedy to anyone who wears it. It’s been alleged that several people throughout history have owned this diamond, with many of them dying in a tragic way. Currently, it’s now on display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.
The Omen: This is a 1976 film by Richard Donner. It’s about a couple who replace their dead child with another named Damien, the only problem being the child they now have is the Antichrist. This movie is said to be cursed. One of the biggest instances of a curse happened to Gregory Peck, who plays Robert in the film. It started when he cancelled a flight, the day before said flight crashed and killed everyone on board. However, while going on a flight to England to film scenes for this movie, his plane would be struck by lightning. No one was hurt. As insane as it sounds, this also happened to the film’s writer, David Seltzer. Also in England, several places the cast and crew were near, especially producer Mace Neufeld, were bombed by the Irish Republican Army. Several animal trainers were also injured on set, with a zookeeper even being killed by a tiger. In the film, there’s a scene where someone is decapitated. This has led to the eeriest curse for the film, when the special effects designer who did this scene got into a car accident, where his wife was decapitated in a similar way. The craziest thing is that it happened on Friday the 13th, about 66.6 kilometers away from a town called Ommen.
