Chapter Text
Noctowl was heading back to his workroom after helping Bulbasaur break up a fight between Oshawott and a group of Oddish. He didn’t want to get into it. He opened the door to find that the fan that had been in his workroom was gone.
It was summer and a really hot day. Bulbasaur loved the heat and Muk and Umbreon didn’t mind it, so they let Noctowl have the fan considering the fact that he was already hot enough with all of his feathers. However, his fan was now missing so he headed out to find it.
He came across Bulbasaur who hadn’t been very far behind him. Bulbasaur gave him a concerned look.
“Everything alright, Noctowl?” He asked.
“I know that we just came in from the clearing, but have you seen my fan? It’s not in my workspace,” Noctowl told him.
“Um, no. You could always ask Professor Oak or Tracey for a new one if you can’t find it though.”
“Maybe. I’ll keep on looking for now though. Thanks anyway.”
Bulbasaur nodded and headed back to his own workroom. Noctowl did spot Muk but decided not to get involved in Muk’s affection towards the professor. He then came across Gary’s Umbreon.
“What’s going on, Noctowl?” Umbreon questioned upon seeing the worry on Noctowl’s face.
“Have you seen my fan? It’s missing from my room workspace,” Noctowl wanted to know.
“I think it was in the lobby. I thought you moved it out there.”
“No, I didn’t. Thank you Umbreon.”
Noctowl hurried towards the lobby where he spotted his fan next to the window. Noctowl blinked. Standing in front of the fan was Totodile. Now, Noctowl was used to the crazy antics of the other Pokémon, but he still didn’t always understand what exactly was going on or why.
“Totodile?” Noctowl called out.
Totodile’s face lit up excitedly. “Papa! Hi!”
Noctowl paused. “Totodile, why are you standing in front of the fan?”
Totodile beamed. “I’m waiting for Pidgeot to look into our window when he comes home. When the fan is blowing on me, I look like a fancy supermodel.”
Noctowl was now very confused. It wasn’t uncommon for the Flying-Types, especially Pidgeot, to go for daily flights but it was the first time Totodile had ever done this.
“You want Pidgeot to think you’re a supermodel?” Noctowl sighed.
“Giving him eye candy is the least I can do. It’ll probably be the best part of his flight!” Totodile exclaimed.
“You’re selfless,” Noctowl drawled. He did not get sarcastic often.
“Thank you for noticing.” Totodile puffed out his chest.
“However.”
“Aww.”
“I need this fan. If you haven’t noticed it is very hot out today. With my feathers I could easily get overheated and suffer from heatstroke.”
“What’s heatstroke?”
“It basically means I could become very weak and possibly pass out. In fact, I could die from it.”
Totodile looked horrified. “I’m sorry, Papa! You can have your fan back! I’ll find another way to look like a supermodel for Pidgeot!”
With that, Totodile darted out the door. Noctowl rolled his eyes and decided not to say anything. When he turned around Umbreon and Bulbasaur were standing in the doorway.
“Don’t ask,” Noctowl deadpanned.
Neither said a word exchanging confused glances and following Noctowl back to the hallway.
