My Maserati Does 185

Summary:

TanFang Mechanic Shop AU

Where the first time Tan and Fang meet is at Tan's family's garage.

Notes:

For some clarification, in this universe Tan, Fang, and Phum didn't meet in high school. Instead Phum and Tan became friends because they're both in the engineering faculty. Tan is still best friends with Peem and the rest of the gang.

Additionally, this somewhat follows the same timeline as the series. Phum and Peem's and Fang and Tan's first interactions happen around the same time frame.

Chapter Text

It’s a slow Thursday evening at the mechanic shop when Tan meets the most beautiful man he’s ever laid eyes on.

It’s impossible not to notice him, really. He sticks out from all the other men in the shop in a soft beige cardigan with his hands and face void of any grease or oil.

Tan swallows, “Hey, what can I do for you?”

“My car stopped working, I was hoping someone would be able to check it out,” the man gestures to the Maserati in the far left of the shop.

Tan’s dad had said he could leave the shop by now but he needs to know more about this gorgeous man in front of him.

“Of course!” he holds out his hand, “Keys please.”

Tan tries not to stare at the man’s hands as he places his keys in Tan’s awaiting hand, long thin fingers, soft and delicate free from any callouses unlike his own.

The man awkwardly shifts as Tan walks towards his car, “Do I just wait here or?”

“Well if you have somewhere to be, you can leave your number on the iPad with your car’s license plate and someone will call you about your car,” Tan really hopes he doesn’t leave when he hasn’t even gotten his name yet. “Most people just wait to hear what happened and how long it’ll take to fix, then leave.”

He nods hesitantly, “I guess I’ll just wait here then.”

Tan grins, “Great, so you said your car stopped working, were you in the middle of driving it?”

By the time Tan leaves the shop, he regrets not asking for the man’s name.

Stupid he reprimands himself You’re just gonna have to hope he comes back the same day you’re working.

Tan is the hottest man Fang has ever met.

Fang tries not to think about his sweet smile, his bright eyes, the way he looks in those coveralls with his sleeves rolled up.

Truthfully, Fang hadn’t been paying attention to what Tan was saying about the car. He couldn’t, not when Tan’s deft, calloused fingers started to unbutton his coveralls, revealing a tank top, slender muscular shoulders and arms. Fang had tried not to stare as he tied the sleeves around his waist and wiped his hands clean.

“…come back in a couple of days, okay?”

Fang blinks, then clears his throat, “Couple of days.”

Tan flashes him another one of those blinding grins, “We have a discount with a couple of ride-sharing companies since you can’t use your car yet.”

“That’s okay, I’ll just call my brother to pick me up.”

By the time Fang secures his seat belt in Phum’s car, he regrets not asking for Tan’s number.
