Work Text:

She was crying in the gazebo again.

Simeon looked up from where he trimmed the rosebushes and smiled dreamily to himself. For all of her fierceness, Primrose was but a kitten playing among tigers. And she would need comfort, again and again, until she grew sharper claws. Claws that he planned to use for his own amusement, of course. He had to nurture her to his desires, so that she brought life and flavor into this dull world.

He stood up and stretched, then made sure his clothes were free of errant leaves. Once satisfied, he plucked a rose from the bush and made his way towards the gazebo. He didn’t dare climb up and put himself above her in height--he wanted her to feel powerful and in control, after all. So instead he reached the edge and called, “Little lady, why do you cry so?”

She stopped her sniffles with a gasp, and he soon saw her peering down at him as she wiped her tears away. “Simeon, you’re here.”

“There is no need for tears, my love.” He held up the red rose he brought with him,

“For a Rose will I give to you,
A rose bloomed in an arbor,
Silent garden with ecstatic fume
did give birth to that bloom.
A Rose will be for a Rose,
Timelessness for your love,
With deep sensual sensitivity,
Rose will bloom everyday.”

He recited his new poem to her, and she turned a pleased pink as she accepted his offering. Her tears were now dry as she sat on the bench in the gazebo and leaned against the railing, smiling fondly at him as he continued to serenade her with his new poem.
