The classroom was buzzing with its usual mid-morning energy when All Might burst in, his heroic presence filling the room. Today, though, his usual broad grin was tempered by a more serious, almost ominous air.
"Good morning, class!" All Might's voice boomed, though it was clear from the start that today's announcement was going to be different.
Bakugou Katsuki, slouched in his seat with a scowl that could curdle milk, rolled his eyes and groaned. "Here we go again. What's the latest torture device?"
Midoriya, on the other hand, was practically vibrating with excitement, his hand already shooting up like a rocket. "Is it a new training exercise? Are we going to be tested on something cool?"
All Might chuckled, his smile faltering slightly as he looked at his students. "Actually, it's something a bit different. Due to recent hero activity and the need for you all to develop better teamwork skills, you'll be going on a special training retreat."
A wave of confusion swept over the classroom. Midoriya's eyes widened with curiosity. "A retreat? What's that going to involve?"
All Might pointed to a map projected behind him, revealing a tiny dot in the middle of nowhere. "You'll be staying in a remote cabin up in the mountains. There will be various exercises and missions designed to challenge your abilities and enhance your teamwork."
Bakugou's face twisted into a mix of disbelief and irritation. "Remote cabin? Are you seriously sending us out to some backwater cabin just to make us suffer?"
All Might's eyes twinkled with amusement as he addressed Bakugou's concerns. "It's not about making you suffer, Katsuki. It's about pushing your boundaries and helping you grow. Plus, the view's supposed to be amazing—if you like snow and pine trees."
Bakugou's scowl deepened. "Great. So, we're going to be freezing our butts off while you watch from the warmth of your office?"
All Might laughed, scratching the back of his head. "I'll be joining you for part of it, actually. Just imagine me as your friendly, slightly less muscular guide through the wilderness."
Midoriya's hand shot up again, his face alight with eagerness. "Will there be specific missions we need to complete?"
"All kinds of missions," All Might said with a grin. "Some will be physical, others will require strategic thinking. And yes, there will be a few surprises. Think of it as a mix between a challenge course and a reality show—minus the cameras and with a lot more snow."
Bakugou groaned audibly, rolling his eyes. "Fantastic. So, we're basically going to be in a bad reality show, except instead of getting kicked off, we get frostbite."
Midoriya tried to hide his smile, but it was clear he was excited about the prospect. "It sounds like a great chance to learn more about us and each other. I'm looking forward to it!"
Bakugou grumbled under his breath, crossing his arms. "Yeah, yeah. Just make sure to keep out of my way, Deku."
All Might's eyes twinkled with mischief as he addressed the class. "You'll leave tomorrow morning, so be prepared for a few days of intense training. And remember, teamwork is key! Or as Katsuki might say, 'Don't get in my way.'"
With that, the students began preparing for their upcoming adventure, each one bracing for the challenges and surprises that awaited them in the snowy wilderness. The cabin might have been remote and the conditions harsh, but one thing was clear: the journey was bound to be anything but ordinary.
----------------------------------------------------------
Midoriya Izuku's room looked like a tornado had hit a hero costume store. His bed was barely visible under a pile of gear, textbooks, and a few stray action figures. He was on his knees, wrestling with his duffel bag, trying to get his costume folded neatly.
"Why is this always harder than it looks in the movies?" Midoriya muttered, his brow furrowed as he attempted to fold his hero suit into a neat rectangle. After a few minutes of wrestling, he finally managed to shove it into the bag with a triumphant grin.
"Okay, checklist time," he said, pulling out a crumpled piece of paper from his pocket. "First aid kit—check. Emergency rations—check. Portable battery charger—check." He glanced at a pair of gloves lying on the bed and raised an eyebrow. "Do I really need three pairs of gloves? Am I planning to juggle in the snow or something?"
His phone buzzed on the desk, breaking him out of his packing reverie. He picked it up to see a message from Uraraka. "Don't forget your sleeping bag! :)"
He chuckled and typed back, "Thanks! Almost forgot." He wasn't sure if they would actually need it, since he was pretty sure they would have bed's inside of the cabin but it's better to be safe.
He grabbed the sleeping bag from the closet, which seemed to have expanded to the size of a small boulder. As he wrestled with it, it seemed determined to make a break for it. "Come on, sleeping bag! We're not playing hide and seek!" he grunted as he shoved it into the already overstuffed duffel.
Finally, he zipped up the bag with a sense of accomplishment, only to have the zipper get stuck halfway. He groaned and gave it one last determined pull. "Please, just this once, be a good zipper..."
With a final victorious snap, the duffel was packed. Midoriya stepped back and surveyed the chaos. "Alright, ready to go," he said with a satisfied smile. "Let's make this trip legendary—or at least make sure no one freezes or starves!"
He grabbed the duffel and sat it to the side of his room for the next day. "What could possibly go wrong?" he muttered with a hopeful grin.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, Class 1-A gathered in the school courtyard, their gear packed and ready for what was sure to be an unforgettable adventure. The air was crisp, and the promise of cold mountain air was evident even from where they stood. All Might, who looked more like a walking, talking marshmallow in his oversized winter coat, clapped his hands together with an exaggerated flourish.
"Alright, everyone! Time to board the bus and head to the training retreat!" All Might's voice was filled with enthusiasm and a touch of misplaced optimism.
As the students began to pile onto the bus, Midoriya and Bakugou followed their classmates. Midoriya, always eager to make the most of the experience, glanced at Bakugou, trying to read his mood. "Ready for this?"
Bakugou's eyes were locked ahead, his expression as unreadable as a stone wall. "Just stay out of my way, Deku."
The bus ride was full of excited chatter and the occasional squeal of delight. Some students were buzzing about how fun this would be, while others nervously looked their window, snow-capped mountains. Midoriya pulled out his notebook and began jotting down ideas for how they might tackle the upcoming challenges.
Bakugou, sat down on the other row one seat Infront of him, He shot a glance at the notebook. "You seriously bring that thing everywhere?"
Midoriya looked up, a bit taken aback. "Oh, um, yeah. I like to take notes and think things through. It helps me prepare."
Bakugou snorted. "Figures"
The rest of the bus ride was surprisingly peaceful, save for the occasional jostle as the bus navigated the winding mountain roads.
The rhythmic hum of the bus engine and the gentle sway made it easy for most of the students to drift off.
Bakugou, on the other hand, remained unusually still, his arms crossed, and his eyes closed, but not quite asleep. It was as if he were engaged in some internal debate over whether or not to allow himself to relax. Every now and then, he shot a glare at anyone who dared make a sound louder than a whisper
The only interruption to the tranquility was a single bathroom stop, where the students hurriedly disembarked and stretched their legs. It was a brief respite from the cramped bus seats and the cold mountain air, but it was enough to revitalize the group.
Uraraka and Iida took the opportunity to grab some snacks from the vending machines, while Kirishima and Kaminari attempted to entertain themselves with an impromptu game of "guess the number of jellybeans in the jar" — a contest that quickly devolved into a playful argument about whether jellybeans should be counted by weight or number.
Back on the bus, the silence settled again. Midoriya's head bobbed as he fought off sleep, and he finally gave in, leaning against the window with a soft sigh. His thoughts were a mix of anticipation for the upcoming challenges and the cozy feeling of being surrounded by friends, even if they were snoring or mumbling in their sleep.
Bakugou's gaze, however, remained resolutely fixed on the passing scenery. Despite his tough exterior, there was a momentary softness in his expression as he watched the snow-covered mountains, perhaps pondering the absurdity of the situation or just appreciating the change of pace. Every now and then, he'd glance over at Midoriya, who was now asleep with his mouth slightly open, a soft smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
The bus rolled on, the snow-covered landscape outside slowly becoming more immersive. The last vestiges of daylight faded, leaving behind a winter wonderland illuminated by the moonlight. Inside the bus, the students' gentle breathing and the faint rustle of their shifting bodies created a comforting background noise.
Eventually, even Bakugou's stubborn resistance to sleep gave way, and he slumped down in his seat, his head resting against the window. The bus journey continued, the snowy terrain passing by in a blur of white and blue, as the students nestled into their seats, ready to face the adventures that awaited them at the end of the ride.
he bus jolted to a stop, jolting the students awake from their peaceful slumber. They rubbed their eyes and looked out the windows, still groggy but curious. The sight that greeted them was both picturesque and a bit daunting.
In front of them stood a small cabin, its weather-beaten exterior barely visible beneath a thick blanket of snow. Beside it, another tiny cabin sat in solitary companionship. The cabins seemed to have been dropped into the middle of nowhere, surrounded by a vast expanse of untouched snow and towering pine trees. The isolation of the place was striking—no other buildings or signs of civilization in sight. It was as if the bus had transported them to a remote corner of a snow globe.
Midoriya, blinking sleep from his eyes, took in the scene with a mix of awe and trepidation. "Wow, this place really is in the middle of nowhere," he said, his voice a blend of wonder and concern. "If something were to happen, we'd definitely be on our own."
Bakugou, now fully awake and already irritated at the prospect of being cut off from the world, grumbled from his seat. "Great. Just what we need—a cabin in the middle of a snowstorm with no cell service. Perfect."
As the students disembarked, they took in the stark beauty of their surroundings. The snow lay undisturbed, save for the tire tracks left by the bus. The two cabins looked inviting in their own rugged way, with the larger one promising warmth and the smaller one likely serving as a storage or auxiliary space.
All Might, now bouncing with his usual exuberance despite the cold, led the way. "Welcome to your training retreat! Get settled in."
__________
Upon entering, they were met with the familiar sight of Mr. Aizawa and All Might standing by a makeshift desk, a large whiteboard behind them covered in various scribbles and notes. The warm, cozy cabin smelled faintly of pine and wood smoke, but the excitement of the day's activities quickly gave way to the reality of their sleeping arrangements.
Aizawa cleared his throat, a rare smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Alright, everyone, listen up. There are ten rooms here, which means you'll all be sharing rooms. Mr. All Might and I will be staying in the smaller cabin next door."
A collective groan rose from the students.
Aizawa held up a clipboard, his gaze sweeping over the group. "I'll be assigning the room pairs. No arguments."
Bakugou's eyes narrowed in immediate irritation. "This is stupid. I don't want to have to clean up after anyone. Why can't we just pick?"
Aizawa raised an eyebrow. "Because, Katsuki, this is about learning to work with others. And besides, you hardly get to pick who you work with in the real world either."
Bakugou muttered under his breath but didn't argue further. The room assignments began, with Aizawa calling out names from the clipboard.
"Mina and Hagakure," Aizawa announced. Both girls exchanged excited smiles, clearly pleased with their pairing.
Kirishima and Kaminari were next. "Kirishima and Denki."
Kaminari threw his arm around Kirishima's shoulders, giving him a high-five. "This is going to be epic! We're going to have so much fun!"
"You know it, dude!" Kirishima grinned, fist bumping Kaminari in return.
"Uraraka and Tsuyu," Aizawa continued, eliciting nods of approval from the two girls, who seemed content with their room assignment.
"Momo and Jiro," came next. Both girls shared a pleased look, clearly happy with their pairing.
Finally, Aizawa cleared his throat and announced, "Bakugou and Midoriya."
The room fell silent. Bakugou's eyes widened, and he turned to glare at Midoriya, who was busy looking at the floor, his face a portrait of anxiety. Bakugou's expression turned from shock to disgust. "Seriously? At this point, just give me Mineta or Dunce Face. I'd rather deal with them."
Kaminari, who had been listening with growing amusement, couldn't help but interject. "Hey! What's that supposed to mean?"
Aizawa shot Kaminari a deadpan look. "You act like a child sometimes"
Kaminari pouted dramatically, placing a hand over his heart. "Ouch, Aizawa-sensei. That stings."
Midoriya, trying to maintain his composure, gave Bakugou a nervous smile. "We'll make it work, kacchan. It's only a few days, after all."
Bakugou huffed, clearly displeased but trying to mask his frustration. "Whatever. Just don't expect me to play nice."
The students dispersed, heading to their assigned rooms. Bakugou and Midoriya found themselves reluctantly heading towards their room, the door creaking open to reveal two neatly made beds and a small window overlooking the snowy landscape.
"So, um, do you want to, I don't know, figure out a plan or something?" he didn't even know why they would need to figure out a plan, he just wanted to break the ice.
Bakugou grunted, dropping his bag onto one of the beds. "Yeah, sure. Plan to keep my distance from you as much as possible."
Midoriya chuckled nervously. "Sounds like a plan."
As they settled into their rooms, the laughter and banter of their classmates echoed through the cabin. Despite the awkward pairings and grumbling complaints, the sense of camaraderie was unmistakable. The challenges of the retreat were far from over, but for now, the students made do with the cards they were dealt, knowing that even in the most uncomfortable situations, there was always room for growth, laughter, and perhaps a bit of unexpected friendship.
---------------------------------------------
The next morning, All Might's voice boomed through the cabin, jolting Midoriya awake. "Rise and shine, Class 1-A! Time to get your day started!"
Midoriya shot up, his heart racing. He looked around groggily and noticed Bakugou was already missing. "He must've gotten up early," Midoriya mumbled to himself as he hastily threw on his clothes, feeling a bit like he was in a race against the clock.
He hurried down to the main living room, passing a few bleary-eyed classmates who were mumbling sleepy greetings. "Good morning! Ready for today?" he asked with forced cheerfulness. The responses ranged from groggy grunts to half-hearted waves.
When he reached the main living room, he was greeted by a curious scene. Bakugou, standing with arms crossed and a scowl that could melt ice, was clearly not in the best of moods. Mina, on the other hand, was practically bouncing with excitement, her bright smile infectious. And All Might, in all his oversized winter coat glory, was beaming with his usual exuberance.
Midoriya's heart sank as he took in the sight of Bakugou's thunderous expression. Oh no, he thought, did I snore like a freight train last night? Is that why Bakugou's so mad? He tried to recall if he'd been particularly noisy in his sleep, but his thoughts were cut short as All Might's voice boomed again.
"Looks like most of us are here!" All Might said, giving a cheerful wave to the assembled students. "Today, you'll each be given a scavenger hunt! Something easy to start off, just to get you warmed up!"
A collective murmur of both anticipation and anxiety swept through the room. Midoriya looked around, taking in the faces of his classmates. His gaze landed on Bakugou, who still looked like he'd been forced to swallow a lemon. Midoriya's heart sank further as All Might continued.
"However," All Might said, his smile widening, "you will be paired with your roommate for this scavenger hunt!"
Midoriya's eyes shot to Bakugou, whose scowl deepened even further. The realization hit him like a ton of bricks. Bakugou's mood wasn't because of anything Midoriya had done; it was because of this, allmight must have told him earlier.
Oh, great, Midoriya thought, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. This should be... interesting.
Mina, noticing the tension, skipped over to Midoriya with a grin. "Hey, don't worry about it! Scavenger hunts are fun! Besides, it's just like an adventure! And I get to partner up with Hagakure, so I'm stoked!"
Midoriya forced a smile, trying to match Mina's enthusiasm. "Yeah, I guess so. I'm sure Kacchan and I will figure it out."
Bakugou shot him a side-eye, but the intensity of his scowl seemed to soften a little.
All Might clapped his hands together, still brimming with energy. "Alright, everyone! Grab your lists and get ready. It's time to see how well you can work together starting with your roommate!"
As the students scrambled to grab their scavenger hunt lists, Midoriya couldn't help but chuckle nervously. This was going to be quite the adventure. He glanced over at Bakugou, who was now looking more like a grumpy snowman than a furious explosion waiting to happen.
Guess it's time to show that we can be a team, even if it means dealing with an exploding grouch, Midoriya thought, steeling himself for whatever the scavenger hunt—and his grumpy partner—would throw at him.
The scavenger hunt lists were distributed, each one sporting a series of cryptic clues and challenging tasks. Midoriya and Bakugou received their list from All Might, who gave them a thumbs-up and a final encouraging cheer before sending them off.
Bakugou took one look at the list and scoffed, "This better not be as lame as it looks." He glanced at Midoriya, who was already peering at the list with intense concentration. "What's the first item?"
Midoriya quickly scanned the paper. "It says we need to find a—um—'rare snow flower with a hint of blue'," he read aloud. "It's supposed to be hidden somewhere in the forest."
Bakugou's scowl deepened. "A flower? Seriously? This is just dumb."
Midoriya bit his lip, trying to keep his nerves in check. "Well, it's our first challenge. We should probably start looking. we don't want to still be out here when it gets dark"
Bakugou huffed but grudgingly nodded. "Fine. But I'm not dragging my feet just because you're trying to be all nice and cooperative."
With that, the pair ventured into the snow-covered forest, the chill air biting at their faces as they trudged through the deep snow. Midoriya's enthusiasm was met with Bakugou's relentless skepticism. As they walked, Midoriya tried to make small talk, hoping to ease the tension.
"So, Kacchan, how's your morning been?" Midoriya ventured, attempting to sound casual.
Bakugou shot him a sideways glare. "It's been fantastic. I've been awake since dawn, freezing my butt off, and now I get to hunt for flowers. What do you think?"
Midoriya forced a chuckle. "Right. Well, you can always use your quirk to warm you up some" he suggested
Bakugou grumbled but began to search the area with more focus. After a few moments of scanning the snow-covered ground and peeking under trees, Midoriya spotted a delicate blue flower partially hidden beneath a blanket of snow.
"Hey, kacchan! I think I found it!" Midoriya called out, excitedly pointing at the flower.
Bakugou stomped over, peering at the flower with a skeptical frown. "That better be it. If this flower's some kind of prank, I swear..."
Midoriya carefully dug the flower out and held it up triumphantly. "I think this is it. Let's check the list to see what's next."
As they reviewed the next item—a "mysterious rock formation with a curious shape"—Bakugou's mood seemed to improve slightly, especially when the task involved searching for something with less delicate attributes than a flower.
They continued their search, each clue leading them deeper into the forest. Along the way, they encountered other pairs of classmates, some working together harmoniously while others were caught in their own versions of chaos. Hagakure and Mina were enthusiastically navigating their clues, while Iida and Todoroki seemed to be methodically ticking off their list with precision.
By midday, Midoriya and Bakugou had managed to find a majority of the items on their list. Midoriya, though still a bit nervous, had noticed Bakugou's demeanor softening just a little. They had even shared a few small, genuine laughs over their misadventures in the snow.
Finally, they reached the last item on their list: a "unique ice sculpture shaped like a mythical creature." They found it, of course, by accident, when Bakugou slipped on a patch of ice and landed right in front of it.
As Bakugou lay sprawled in the snow, looking both annoyed and relieved, Midoriya couldn't help but chuckle. "Guess we found it in the most unconventional way possible."
Bakugou shot him a grumpy look but couldn't hide a small smirk. "Yeah, well, at least we're done. Let's get back to the cabin."
As Midoriya and Bakugou made their way back to the cabin, they started to realize something was off. They hadn't seen any of their classmates for the past thirty minutes—a bit unusual, considering how close-knit the group usually was.
"It's weird," Midoriya said, squinting through the snow-covered trees. "We should've run into someone by now."
Bakugou grunted in agreement, still scowling as he trudged through the snow. "Yeah, well, they probably just finished the scavenger hunt and went back to the cabin. We'll catch up with them soon."
But as an hour passed and they still didn't see anyone, the realization hit: they were lost. The trees and snow looked pretty much the same in every direction, and the growing shadows of evening didn't help their sense of direction.
"This is great," Bakugou muttered. "Lost in the middle of nowhere with a scavenger hunt list. What's next? Are we going to stumble upon a pack of werewolves?"
Midoriya, trying to stay positive, replied, "Well, I think we're okay as long as we stick together. We should just keep heading back in the direction we came from."
Just as they were about to continue their search, Bakugou's eyes caught sight of a small, ramshackle cabin partially hidden by trees. It looked like it hadn't been lived in for decades, with its sagging roof and cracked windows.
Bakugou raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? A cabin in the middle of nowhere? This is exactly what we need—a creepy, abandoned cabin. It's like something out of a horror movie."
Midoriya shrugged, trying to suppress his nervousness. "Well, it's a place to check for shelter. Besides, it might be better than wandering around all night."
Bakugou sighed in resignation. "Go for it if you want, but I'm not getting my hopes up."
Midoriya approached the cabin, the old wooden steps creaking under his weight. He grabbed the doorknob and turned it cautiously. With a groan that sounded like it hadn't been used in ages, the door swung open, revealing a dark, musty interior.
Midoriya peered inside, trying to see if it was safe. "Hello? Anyone home?" he called out, but only his echo answered.
"Yeah, right," Bakugou muttered as he followed Midoriya inside. "As if a haunted cabin is going to magically lead us back to civilization."
The inside of the cabin was exactly as they'd feared: dusty, cobweb-filled, and furnished with ancient, creaky furniture. A few moth-eaten blankets lay haphazardly on a tattered sofa, and the single light bulb hanging from the ceiling flickered weakly.
Midoriya looked around and forced a smile. "Well, at least it's dry in here. And if nothing else, we've got a roof over our heads."
Bakugou kicked a dusty chair out of his way and plopped down on the only relatively clean spot he could find. "Great. We're now officially lost in the most cliche horror movie setting ever. Just hope we don't find any creepy journals or ghosts."
Midoriya chuckled nervously. "If a ghost shows up, I'm blaming you for dragging us here. Let's just settle in and wait for morning."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the two boys set up a makeshift camp in the cabin. They made the best of their situation with what little they had, trying to stay warm and comforted by the faint glow of moonlight.
Midoriya, ever the curious explorer, decided to investigate the cabin further, hoping to find something useful or at least interesting. As he rummaged through the dusty corners, he stumbled upon a stack of old, musty blankets and some frayed towels. He brushed off the dust with a look of determination, then spread the blankets over a shabby old couch, trying to make it as comfortable as possible.
"Hey, Kacchan!," he called out, "I found some blankets and towels. We can use these to sleep on the couch. I'll take the right side, and you can take the left."
Bakugou, who had been sulking in a corner and trying to ignore everything around him, grumbled in response. "Sure, whatever. Not like I'm thrilled about sharing a couch with you."
Despite his grumbling, Bakugou couldn't deny that he was secretly a little appreciative of Midoriya's effort. He wouldn't say it out loud, of course. He wasn't about to start handing out compliments or showing gratitude.
Midoriya adjusted the blankets, trying to make their makeshift bed as cozy as possible. "I looked for a bed, but I guess whoever lived here either took it with them or decided to sleep on the floor," he said, with a hint of dry humor.
Bakugou grunted as he finally joined Midoriya on the couch, arranging his own blanket with a mix of annoyance and reluctant acceptance. "Great. So we're sharing a couch with dust and probably a family of spiders. Just what I wanted."
As they settled in, Midoriya noticed that the couch was a little more comfortable than he had expected. They huddled under the blanket.
Midoriya tried to get comfortable, but the small blanket didn't do much to warm him. "You know," he said, shivering slightly, "if we survive the night, I'm going to become an expert at finding the perfect sleeping conditions in abandoned cabins."
Bakugou snorted. "Yeah, you do that. I'll just try to ignore the fact that I'm freezing my ass off while sharing a couch with you."
Midoriya chuckled, trying to hide his own discomfort. "At least we're not being chased by werewolves or anything. That would really put a damper on our night."
Bakugou grumbled something indistinguishable in response but shifted a bit closer, as if to make the shared blanket feel a little warmer. The warmth was modest, but it was better than the biting cold outside.
As they lay there in the dim light of their flashlight, Bakugou sighed. "You know, this isn't exactly how I planned to spend my night, but thanks for finding the blankets and making this less miserable."
Midoriya's eyes widened in surprise. "You're welcome. And hey, at least we can look back on this and laugh someday, right?"
Bakugou rolled his eyes but couldn't suppress a small, appreciative smirk. "Yeah, sure. As long as we don't end up as the main characters in some cheesy horror story."
They settled into an uneasy truce of sorts, the shared blanket and old couch making their situation a little less dire. As the night went on, both boys found some semblance of comfort, despite the chilly air and the mysterious creaks and groans of the old cabin.
In the quiet of the night, the two unlikely companions managed to drift off to sleep, their mutual discomfort easing slightly with the warmth of each other's presence and the promise of a new day.
The next morning, Bakugou stirred awake to find himself uncomfortably warm. He blinked groggily and soon realized that he was practically spooning Midoriya. He felt a pang of panic and confusion as he took in the sight of the green-haired boy snuggled up against him, looking peaceful and utterly unbothered.
Bakugou's eyes lingered on Midoriya's sleeping face. There was something oddly calming about the way his curls framed his face. He reached out almost absentmindedly and gently touched one of Midoriya's curls. It was as soft as he'd always remembered, and he found himself absentmindedly running his fingers through it.
Just as he was beginning to enjoy the oddly comforting feeling, Midoriya's eyes fluttered open. His face immediately went from relaxed to horrified as he noticed their proximity. Bakugou's heart sank. He quickly averted his gaze, pretending to be intensely interested in the cabin's decrepit wallpaper.
"Hey! You damn nerd! Why are you all up on me like that?!" Bakugou barked, trying to sound as annoyed as possible but failing to fully mask the awkwardness in his voice.
Midoriya's face turned a shade of red that could rival a ripe tomato. His eyes widened in horror as he scrambled away, waving his hands frantically. "I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! I guess you were just warm because of your quirk, and I was asleep, so I didn't know! I'm really sorry, please forgive me!"
Bakugou's eyes narrowed as he tried to hide his smirk. "Stop the damn mumbling. It's okay, nerd. Just don't do it again."
Midoriya nodded vigorously, his face still flushed. "Right, totally! No more accidental cuddling!"
As Bakugou adjusted his position and tried to look more annoyed than he felt, he couldn't help but secretly miss the warmth. He'd never admit it out loud, but there was something nice about having Midoriya so close, even if it was by accident.
The morning light filtered through the cabin's grimy windows, casting a soft glow on their makeshift bed. Bakugou glanced at Midoriya, who was now awkwardly trying to rearrange the blankets as if he could hide his embarrassment behind them.
"Don't think this means I'm gonna start being all cozy with you," Bakugou grumbled, though his tone lacked its usual bite. "Next time, we'll find a bigger couch or something."
Midoriya looked up, his face still red but now carrying a hint of relief. "Okay, deal. And, uh, thanks for being understanding."
Bakugou grunted in response, trying to regain his usual scowl. "Yeah, whatever. Just remember, I don't do cuddling."
As they both stood up, Bakugou couldn't help but glance at Midoriya's curls again. He had to admit, there was something oddly comforting about the whole mess. Even if he'd never say it out loud, he wouldn't mind a bit more warmth—even if it came with the occasional accidental cuddle.
As the morning progressed, the previous night's awkwardness had begun to fade, replaced by a more relaxed, albeit still chilly, atmosphere. Midoriya and Bakugou were sharing a granola bar that Midoriya had brought along, taking turns nibbling at it while stealing furtive glances at each other. The small moments of eye contact and shared smiles hinted at an unspoken understanding between them, even if neither was brave enough to address it directly.
The day had only gotten colder, and Midoriya was seated on the cough, wrapped with blankets.
"It's freezing," Midoriya shivered, hugging the blanket closer around himself as he huddled on the couch.
Bakugou, who had been pacing around the cabin trying to stay warm, sighed dramatically. "Yeah, no kidding. It's like living in a giant freezer."
He plopped down next to Midoriya, causing the couch to creak under the sudden shift in weight. Midoriya glanced at him in surprise.
"Come here," Bakugou grumbled, avoiding eye contact. "I'll use my quirk to warm you up."
Midoriya's eyes widened. He wasn't sure if he was more surprised by the offer or the fact that Bakugou hadn't already blown up the cabin in frustration. "Okay, thank you, Kacchan."
"Whatever, nerd," Bakugou muttered, trying to sound disinterested. "Just don't go telling anyone about this. You'll regret it."
Midoriya nodded vigorously, too cold and too grateful to argue. As Bakugou activated his quirk, his hands radiated a warm, comforting heat. He carefully placed his hands along Midoriya's arms, not wanting to touch anything else and make him uncomfortable. The warmth quickly spread, making Midoriya sigh in relief.
Bakugou, focused on keeping his cool, inadvertently started to stroke the back of Midoriya's hand as he held it. He was so focused on his task that he didn't notice Midoriya's cheeks turning a bright shade of red.
Midoriya looked at Bakugou, his face flushing even more. "Uh, Kacchan, your hands are really warm. Thanks."
Bakugou, suddenly very aware of the soft, nervous touch he was giving, tried to hide his own blush. "Yeah, well, don't get used to it. Just... enjoy the warmth while it lasts."
The awkwardness between them melted away, replaced by a cozy, if somewhat tense, warmth. The sensation of Bakugou's hand gently brushing against his was surprisingly comforting, and Midoriya couldn't help but feel a flutter of emotions.
Bakugou glanced sideways at Midoriya, trying to appear nonchalant. "You know, if you tell anyone about this, I'll—"
Midoriya interrupted with a small, appreciative smile. "I won't say a word. I promise."
Bakugou grumbled but couldn't hide a small, genuine smile of his own. "Good. Because I've got a reputation to uphold."
The two boys sat there in comfortable silence, the warmth from Bakugou's quirk spreading through them. Despite the cold and the uncertainty of their situation, there was something undeniably nice about sharing this unexpected moment of closeness.
As they continued to huddle together, both boys found themselves feeling a bit warmer—both from the heat of Bakugou's quirk and the burgeoning warmth of their new, unspoken understanding.
Midoriya's cheeks flushed as he looked at Bakugou, who seemed to be getting increasingly soft in his touch. The atmosphere between them was charged with a new, almost palpable intimacy. The cold outside felt like a distant memory compared to the warmth of Bakugou's hands and the electricity in the air.
Bakugou, trying to keep his composure, stole glances at Midoriya. The soft glow of the cabin's light made Midoriya's eyes look almost magical. The vulnerability in Midoriya's gaze was strangely captivating. Midoriya's heart raced, and the proximity made him hyper-aware of Bakugou's every movement.
Their eyes locked, and for a moment, everything else seemed to vanish. The cabin's small space felt even more intimate as their breaths mingled. The tension between them was electric.
Without thinking, Midoriya leaned in, drawn by an irresistible pull. The kiss was hesitant at first, a tender brush of lips that made both boys shiver. The brief contact was charged with unspoken emotions and feelings neither had anticipated.
Bakugou's eyes widened in surprise, but he quickly responded, his hands moving to cradle Midoriya's face. The kiss deepened, each boy feeling a rush of exhilaration and disbelief. The warmth from Bakugou's quirk seemed to intensify, mixing with the emotional heat of the moment.
When they finally broke apart, both were breathless, their faces flushed with a blend of warmth and embarrassment. Midoriya's eyes were wide, caught between shock and a burgeoning happiness. Bakugou, usually so composed, wore a conflicted but soft smile.
"Uh, Kacchan..." Midoriya started, his voice barely a whisper. "I didn't mean—"
Before he could finish, a loud crash interrupted their moment. Both boys jumped, their heads whipping towards the noise. They turned to see All Might standing in the doorway, a dramatic pose and a wide grin on his face.
"DON'T FEAR! FOR I AM HERE!" All Might bellowed with his signature enthusiasm, before abruptly realizing the situation he had stumbled into. His eyes widened as he took in the scene, and he quickly fumbled to recover.
"I AM... GONE!" All Might declared, trying to maintain his heroic composure. He turned on his heel and bolted outside, the door shattering into splinters behind him as he dashed away.
Midoriya and Bakugou stared at the now-busted door, stunned into silence. Midoriya's face was bright red, and he looked over at Bakugou, who was equally flustered but trying to hide it behind a scowl.
Bakugou cleared his throat awkwardly, running a hand through his hair. "Well, that's one way to ruin a moment."
Midoriya chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, I guess so."
Despite the interruption, the shared warmth and the kiss had changed something between them. As they resumed their spot on the couch, side by side, the cold outside seemed a bit less daunting. They both knew that whatever came next, they'd face it together—whether it was the freezing wilderness or an unexpected visit from All Might.
