Work Text:

Posedao was minding his own business, Checking in on Polyphemus for an update on his sheep, he liked talking about his sheep, when he felt a sea bound vessel venture into his waters.

The Sea of Monsters was his domain, it was the only part of his once vast kingdom that had yet to allow the humans to domesticate.

And if he had his way, they never would.

Posedao looked upon the vessel, it was a white cruise ship that had veered off course, Called itself the “Sea’s Jewel” Posedao never understood naming a ship, especially if it were going into where he lived.

He was filled with rage when a red can was thrown off the deck of the ship, and was willing to rip the thing in half for the crime of damaging his precious kingdom.

Then he heard a young woman shouting.

Sally hated very few things in the world, three things, in particular.

  1. When Parents abandoned their children.
  2. When people told her that she just needed to “Work harder” to deserve to exist.
  3. When people littered.

And right now, during her newest job as a Janitor on the deck of a dumb cruise ship that her friend Jess had gotten her, she had just seen some idiot rich boy chuck a Coke Can off of the ship.

“HEY! Asswipe! We have Trash cans!” she shouted as she mopped the area of Vomit, why would you go on a cruise if you get seasick?

“Well, Yeah, but they're just so- Far away!” the guy wobbled, he was drunk, of course he was, and his friends were checking her out.

‘Three, two, one.’ Sally counted down in her head.

“Hey, Jorge, she’s lookin’ pretty nice~ maybe we should listen to ‘er, just for a little bit.” The guy tried to whisper, but drunk men are incapable of doing that, so Sally could hear him clear as day as she Wiped the ground. Why was this stuff so hard to clean?

She did look very good, Sally was aware of that, she was very… active, when she was a little younger, it was a quick way of getting money, but not very secure, so now she was here, and the Uniform she had to wear hugged her curves, like most of the uniforms she wore did.

She sighed.

“Well, I would, you three do seem to be very… here, but I don’t know how good you’d be, I mean, all you do is throw recycling off of boats, y’know?” Sally shrugged, watching as they paled upon realizing that she had heard them make… untoward comments at her.

“Ah, don’t worry about that, my Girlfriend always tells me I’m one of the better ones she’s been with!” the guy that chucked the can began wobbling towards Sally.

“Hold on, you have a girlfriend?” Sally asked, putting her Mop back onto her cart.

“Well she ain't nothin’ compared to you ~” he was a lot closer now, and Sally could smell the alcohol on his breath.

“Watch it!” Sally swung her Mop, slamming it into the guys Temple, sending him slamming over the railing, and into the sea.

“JORGE! What the fuck!” one of the other guys turned to Sally, Glaring.

“He got too close, I didn’t think that-” Sally was stopped in her tracks as a large wave raised from behind the two men, the ground from within the sea raised with it, forming a human shape with Glowing Green eyes and a crown that looked like an upside down Crab, the clouds darkened to a sheer black, and seemed to be coming out from his head, and his beard looked like it was a Waterfall that poured into the ocean.

The boat rocked hard to the side, throwing the men that were advancing on her into the sea, where they were torn to shreds by sea serpents.

Sally fell onto the deck as the boat leveled again, looking up at the man who seemed to be made out of the very Sea itself, he stared at her, and Sally had a feeling deep within her gut, one that made her feel like she was out of place, like she wasn’t supposed to be here.

“Ah. I see, one of Ishtar’s, huh.” he looked at Sally, and she was frozen with her back to the wall as a storm buffeted down around the ship.

“Oh, Please don’t Fear, it’s not a very good look for you.” The figure brought a hand down, palm up, and placed it next to the ship, and a smaller version of him appeared in his palm, this one looked human enough, a long Black beard, cascading Black hair, the Crown, the blue Toga.

He brought a hand up to Sally’s cheek as she stared at him, awestruck.

He had a wondrous visage, his eyes were solid Green, glowing softly as Sally looked into them, his teeth were sharp, he had Scales in place of his skin, and there were rivers of glowing veins that she could see through his skin.

“And you can see through that pesky Mist…” he took Sally’s hand, leading her to the palm of his hand, where they stood, the larger version of him lifting them higher as the smaller one held her close.

“Now, to deal with the ones that dare taint my realm.” the Storm got worse, a lightning strike split the Ship in half, and now Sally was alone with this god, that was the only way she could describe him.

“Now, could you tell me what a beautiful woman like you was doing on a ship like that?” he held Sally closer, and she let out a squeak.

“Oh… well, I needed a job so that I could start a higher education… I want to be a writer…” Sally felt silly, describing her dreams to what could only be a god.

“Hm, a dream that isn’t impossible to achieve, refreshing.” the man began lowering them to the ocean, “you’re not afraid of the water, are you?” he asked as the hand rested on the top of the sea.

“Uh… not really, I’m just not all that into getting ripped apart…” Sally held onto Posedao’s arm as he led her to the water.

“Well, no need to fear, they would never dare to harm you as long as I am near.” Posedao sat down, and so did Sally, dipping their feet into the sea, looking on into the horizon, the sun was setting.

It looked beautiful.

“Wow…” Sally was lost for words, the sunset was amazing.

“Well, if you think that’s impressive…” Posedao stood, and led Sally to the center of his own hand, which got lower, and water stayed at the edges, forming a dome above the limb as the Sea creatures swam around the dry area, giant serpents, huge sharks, some normal fish, they were all beautiful as Posedo snapped his fingers and they Glowed, spots and Speckles that gave off differently colored light, which shined off of the scales of the other fish.

“It’s beautiful…” Sally mouthed.

“Not as beautiful as you~” Posedao took Sally’s face in his hand, and she kissed him, a Whale swam over them, its whole bottom was glowing, his ribs casting a shadow as Posedao smiled at Sally, who Smiled back.

“And that’s how I met your dad!” Sally Closed the Scrap book as she sat on the side of Percy’s bed, a nice smile on her face.

“Ugh, If you didn’t want to tell me you should have just told me.” the 7 year old scoffed, not noticing the way that his eyes flickered with a green light as Sally turned the light off.

He eventually fell asleep, clinging to the Whale Shark Plush he had gotten from the package that his mom said his dad had sent him.
