Work Text:
Working a part-time job as a front-liner in a medium-sized restaurant is tiring, especially when the said restaurant always has two rush-hour sets every day. But talking to people is fun, it gives Yunjin inspiration for her songs whenever she does her hobby of people-watching; they always have interesting ideas for her.
Like this girl for example. Wait, scratch that. This very beautiful girl for example.
Yunjin’s hand swiftly taps the tablet screen, inserting a certain menu that the girl always orders while her eyes watch the girl enter the restaurant.
“Hi, welcome!” Yunjin cheerfully greets when the girl stops in front of her counter. Today, the girl has her blond hair tied up in a tight bun and an oversized hoodie instead of her usual tight-fit shirt with a pair of skinny jeans. She’s always pretty in anything, Yunjin muses before adding, “The usual kimchi jjigae with extra tofu?”
The girl looks surprised, her big eyes grow even bigger as she turns to Yunjin. The sound of POS printing the order fills in the background before she replies, “No, I’m here to order jjajangmyeon.”
“Oh,” is what Yunjin says. Silence lapses around them before she lifts her hands in a frantic gesture. “Oh my god, I’m sorry! You always order that menu so I assumed and made the order. I’m sorry!” Fuck fuck fuck, Yunjin rambles with both her lips and her mind, it’s already printed I can’t change it! I need the manager's approval to cancel the menu, but that means a mistake to my rapport. My god, my best employee of the month bonus!
“Are you okay?” The girl asks, noticing the sudden silence instead of the usual cheerful smile on Yunjin’s face. Yunjin masks a bright smile for the girl.
“Yes, I am,” No, I am not.
“Didn’t you already print my order?” The girl tip-toes to peek over the counter, looking at the small piece of paper still sticking out of the printer.
Yunjin slumps her shoulder, “I did, I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s okay. Just add two servings of jjajangmyeon with that. For take-out.”
Yunjin’s finger moves across the screen as she adds the menu, her lips morph into a pout, feeling both relief and embarrassment at the same time. She misses the slight chuckle escaping the girl’s lips.
“Can you add a customer note with the order?”
“Yes?” Yunjin quips her head in confusion, “Oh, yes, you can.”
“Please type saku39 on any of my orders.”
Yunjin does as she was told, typing the word that looks like a social ID on the jjajangmyeon she already inputted. It takes her a couple of seconds until she realizes what is going on.
“Add me on Kakao.” the girl smiles.
“But...the kitchen will also see this note,” Yunjin mumbles as she proceeds with the order, taking the bills from the girl on the counter to complete the payment.
“Don’t worry,” the girl winks and she takes her change from Yunjin’s hand, fingers lingering a few seconds longer to make Yunjin even more flustered, “I only accept requests from people that I like.”

That day, Yunjin does her shift with a smile brighter than usual. A copy of an order note folded very neatly in her pocket like a treasure.
