Chapter Text
The looks Sunny was receiving from everyone in the room said it all. Horror. A dark cloud loomed over everyone as they all struggled to find the words, collect their thoughts, even understand. Finally, someone spoke up.
¨Cmon, Sunny," Kel said, forcing out a smile. ¨That.. that isn't funny..¨
Sunny lowered his head and Kel sucked in a breath. He heard someone take a step forward. She was shaking and on the verge of tears.
¨You killed her.. and you lied.. You lied! For years!¨ Her voice was hoarse and pained. She could try and cover it up with rage, but she couldn't hide how she truly felt. Horrified.
She shook her head and shoved Sunny out of the way, knocking him down as she ran out of the room, Kel yelling out to her to wait. Sunny couldn't do anything. What right to stop her did he have? None.
Hero scoffed a little, and then he laughed, but it came to a quick stop. ¨I can believe this. Y-You can't be for real. You are.. kidding!¨
Sunny flinched. Hero was always scary when he yelled. Kel placed a hand on his brother's shoulder in an effort to calm him. Hero shook his head a little and shrugged Kel off.
¨Sunny. We would have never.. never hated y..¨ Hero´s words stopped as he broke down into heartbroken sobs, his voice shuddering. ¨Never.¨
Hero shook his head as he also stepped out, Kel watching him leave before looking down at Sunny. He hesitated, his hand twitching to reach out to his friend, but then stopped when Sunny flinched away.
¨I.. I should go check on them..¨ He walked passed Sunny, but stopped at the doorway. ¨We.. We were friends. You could have told us. We.. we love you, Sunny.¨ And his footsteps echoed away, leaving Sunny and the bedridden Basil.
Basil had his face buried into the blankets, tears staining his face, before unveiling it, smiling weakly. ¨We told them.. Aha.. I´m so happy...¨
Sunny sucked in a shaky breath and Basil looked at him with half closed eyes. ¨Sorry.. that you were the one they directed all their anger out onto.. it should've been me.. Afterall... not telling them was my idea. Hanging Mari's body... was my idea.¨
Sunny shook his head. ¨I knew I would be the one they directed everything at, since I was the one who confessed.¨ He sat on the edge of Basil's bed.
¨Do you think... they'll still be our friends?¨
A question, indeed. Sunny couldn't know. He can't control his friends' hurt or anger. Sunny likes control. That's why he has headspace the way it is. Despite that, he still told them. He had to. Or else everything will continue to hurt.
So then why...?
Sunny began to shake, and heavy tears slid down his cheeks, plopping onto his hospital gown. ¨It's over... it's all over..¨ He didn't know what to do with himself. He found that his legs were now moving on their own.
¨Sunny?¨ Basil called out weakly. ¨Where are you going?.... Please... don't leave me again.. Sunny.. I.. I'm sorry..¨
He couldn't process Basil's pleas. Everything was spinning and then, it was dark. Black space. Suddenly, he could only hear one thing.
Run.
So he began running for his life. The hospital walls were like prison walls and the blank but staring faces of the doctors zoomed by. Echoing words of a distorted voice murmured, ¨Leaving again? So soon? Sad..¨
Suddenly, he was in a forest, jump ropes slung over the branches of the trees, hanging down and swaying in the wind.
He didn't know where he was. All he could do was scream, until everything was black. Even black space..
A voice made a light humming sound, observing him as vines smelling of grape juice wrapped around him.
"I know you..." said a deep voice. There was a hard thump on his forehead and all that was in this void the never ending sight of smiles and sunshine.
