Tears of a Fallen Shade

Summary:

A "what if" fic, if that Link was almost killed by Ganondorf's gloom before Rauru could grab him and he turned Link into a "evil" shade with his memories and humanity still intact?

Chapter 1: Purah's observation and revelation

Chapter Text

Day-XXX

"Everything is a complete mess.

First these deep chasms with sickening gloom appear, Hyrule castle risen from the ground...then chaos and unnatural disasters plaguing each regions...strange floating landmasses and Zonai technology in the sky...and princess Zelda has gone missing!

And yet...

Our hero Link is no where to be seen, and a new, unknown monster has been recently spotted mere days after the upheaval.

Not just here, but everywhere.

I have not seen it myself, but the rumors all state the same thing: bright red eyes, sliver/white-ish hair, ashed skin, and human-like shape monster was seen briefly before it disappeared into the shadows.

The rumors also state that it is much different from every other hostile monsters in the land. It seemed shy, never getting to close and intelligent, much more than a lynel. The monster never attacked any person.

How mysterious...

However, the odd eccentric Kilton was excited about this creature, telling the rarity of it which he calls a Shade.

The shade is hardly seen during the day, only in the darkness it seemed to thrive, then vanishing into the chasms before dawn, like it's afraid of the light of the sun. Even so, no one has actually seen the shade up close or has a picture. Noneless, the shade should be treated with full caution incase it's hostile."

I placed the quill down, satisfied with my notes. It's late, and the midnight oil was burning, but I couldn't sleep yet. Not yet aleast.

There were unanswered questions still and I must know. It is a dark time, and link is no where to be found. Or zelda. I get up for a stretch and decided that some fresh nightly air will do some good.

The outpost was empty and comfortably quiet, as everyone went to sleep already. Sounds of crickets soothed my ears, nature in its simplicity is the ultimate balm for my restless mind. Sometimes I forget to just relax and enjoy what's going around me, hmm...maybe some star sighting will be fun as well!

I walked infront of my telescope and looked in it, and beginning to readjust it where I could see some constellations. But as I were going to change it. A shape was seen right on the floating mass of hyrule castle. Curiously, I adjusted the lens and my blood ran cold at the sight of IT.

The shade, stood apon the floating mass of hyrule castle. In full view and it's appearance in the rumors were spot on. The hair, the eyes, the skin. Telltale signs of a monster, no doubt. I couldn't keep my eyes off the shade, even in its ghastly features. It seemed so human, but a monster is a monster...not a human.

And monsters will always no better then to go to place's where they don't belong, and hopefully the shade knows it as well.

But as I stare at the monster, I couldn't help but think...

Why does it look so much like Link?
