Work Text:
Venti felt tired. I mean, how could someone not be? The amount of times he’s been at this exact scene has gotten tiring, seeing the nation he helped free and the citizens who he thought of as his children, seeing all the people he cared for dying over and over. It gets tiring quickly, seeing it hundreds of times. The chains he was locked in made him be in an awkward position, his body ached. He could still hear his children’s prayers to him, at least what was left of them. They’ll be alive again shortly.
Venti could hear the steps coming down the stairs, but he didn’t bother raising his head, just watching the ground of the cage. He already knew who it was. Lumine, the abyss princess. He hated that ‘princess’. Venti didn’t often hate many people but this ‘princess’ was becoming annoying.
It doesn’t take Lumine long to get to where he was caged in. “The god of freedom,” Venti could hear Lumine talk, he didn’t bother looking up, why should he? It was pointless to look at her. ”Yet trapped in a cage, silent.” Lumine had continued, unaware of Venti's thoughts. Venti could hear Lumine sitting in a chair in front of the cage that the subordinate who had come down with Lumine had placed before leaving.
Silence etched on for a few moments before Lumine decided to speak again, “What are you waiting for, Barbatos?” Lumine said, Venti (?) knew she was narrowing her eyes from previous timelines when he had been looking at her. “Or should I say, Kronos .” Lumine said.
It was when he heard the prayers of his children being cut off as they were killed Venti decided to move, he had enough of this self-proclaimed princess and his children’s deaths. Venti lifted his head to look at Lumine, he could feel both time itself running through his veins as his eyes turned from their usual greenish-blue to the yellow with the clocks in them. Venti felt some of the anemo powers burst out of his body shaking the chains he was trapped by. He could feel the way that the time power integrated with the anemo burst, ageing the chains that caged him backwards, the chains snapping apart and disintegrating.
Kronos Venti ripped his wrists out of the chains that were disintegrating too slowly for him, starting to float. Both time and anemo had burst out of his body again, breaking the cage he was in and sending the pieces flying. His children were crying in their prayers, and he was angry at Lumine for being the main person to make them cry. No one hurts his children, not even himself.
He floated high above, feeling the power of anemo and time whipping about. Venti could feel time forming a large ‘clock’ behind him. staring at Lumine, the hands of the clocks both in his eyes and behind him ticking quickly.
Lumine had stood up from her chair, taking a step forward towards him, her purple see-through ‘wings’ appearing behind her and her sword appearing in her hand. Those wings never worked, it was just a trick. Only Barbatos could let people fly and Lumine was not one of the people he allowed.
Lumine floated up towards Venti, stopping a few levels lower than him, pointing her sword at Venti. The black-purple void from her powers starting to encase the room. It was too late. Kronos' powers were already in effect.
“Ah, traveller, we meet again!”
“What? You don’t remember me?”
“Ahaha, well, allow me to join you on your quest once again.”
Kronos, Barbatos, Venti, God of Time, God of Freedom, God of Death, no matter what name or title he goes by, won’t allow his loved ones to be destroyed by Lumine again. He’ll make sure of it.
