Izuku felt his shoulder crack as he shifted it, and swore under his breath. Great, another thing to add to his list of ailments. He set the icepack he’d been holding to it back in the freezer, and made his way out of the common room, walking to the boy’s side of the dorms slowly. Sighing from how exhausted he was, Izuku climbed the stairs. He’d been patrolling with Aizawa, as part of a sort of mentoring situation, and he’d been working him to the bone.
(By ‘to the bone’, Izuku means that Aizawa got his damn finger practically skinned by some random thing hooking his wedding ring and pulling it off, with the skin of his ring finger. That was awesome to explain to Aizawa’s spouse in the E.R., as well as the befuddled nurses.)
He tried to be quiet as he opened the door to his room, wincing at the squeak, but he froze as he entered, staring at the people who had also froze. Izuku tried to get a sense of understanding as to why Denki, Ashido, Hanta and Yuuga had just ran out of his room, leaving Ochako behind, but then he spotted the blankets and pillows, and it dawned on him.
It was the second Tuesday of the month, when he and Ochako always watched a movie together, –sometimes with other people, usually alone– and he’d forgotten.
“‘Chako, I-”
The look on her face said it all. “You forgot.” Ochako didn’t look that upset, just worried for him. He’s never forgotten before. “It’s okay, we can just do it some other time.” She leaned to start picking up the blankets, but Izuku reached out, gently taking her hand in his.
“I’d still like to do it, if you’d put up with me being bone tired, that is.” Ochako smiled at him, and nodded. She swiftly walked to the door, shutting it and turning off the lights while Izuku lowered himself onto the pile of pillows and blankets that were covering his bed.
Ochako smiled, and gestured at him to scoot over. She huddled next to him, and reached under his main pillow. “I was going to save this for after the movie, to take with you to hide,” She started, and handed him a container of what seemed to be katsudon, and some chopsticks. “But you didn’t eat dinner with us, and Aizawa probably thought you did, so I thought I’d give it to you now, so you can eat something.”
Izuku felt warmth spread across his face, and he pulled Ochako into a tight hug. “Thank you.” He took the container, and Ochako leaned over him to grab the laptop for the movie. He practically inhaled it, and after finishing his last bite and setting the dishes on his nightstand, he turned to Ochako again. “What are we watching?”
She smiled, and turned the screen towards him. “I was thinking we could do a documentary earlier, but since you’re too tired to do analysis, I’ve got the next best thing. This one you know well enough to practically recite in your sleep, so we should be fine to watch it while you aren't at a hundred percent.” Ochako pressed a few buttons, and the familiar starting screen of ‘Rise to Greatness: A look into All Might's past’ appeared.
He hugged her again, and scooted a bit closer, pulling the blankets tighter around him. Ochako set a lapdesk on their legs, and the laptop on top of that, before huddling her arms under the blankets as well.
Izuku looked over at her as she stared at the screen, focused on the movie, and he smiled softly. Leaning on her, Izuku turned back to the movie, smiling wider as All Might appeared, his signature blond hair waving in the wind.
As the movie progressed, and Izuku watched as All Might traveled around America, saving people and making his debut, he felt his eyes grow heavy, and before he knew it, he’d leaned on Ochako as the credits played with a corny song in the background, and his eyes were half way closed already.
He felt her shift, and his head was set onto his normal pillow. A moment later, she was shuffling off the bed, and gathering most of the blankets. Izuku barely registered her laying a blanket across his shoulders, and, if as he felt consciousness slip from him she kissed his forehead before leaving the room, closing the door in a way that made it almost not squeak at all, well that was their business and theirs alone, and he totally wouldn't be screaming about it to Denki tomorrow.
Right as the door was almost shut, he heard a tiny whisper. “Good night, Izuku.”
Izuku smiled softly, and fell into the void of sleep.
When Izuku woke up, he felt the most rested he had in ages . As he sat up, he rolled his shoulders, and was insanely shocked that it didn’t hurt as much as yesterday. He turned to his nightstand, and on it sat a glass of water that he drank the contents of without a second thought, and a small note.
As he read it, he smiled softly, and got up, swearing under his breath as he realized he hadn’t changed last night.
Izuku went and took a shower, and when he got down to the common room, he was met with a plate of food in his face.
“Hi Izuku! How are you feeling?” Ochako handed him the plate as she walked him to the table, and sat next to him.
“Oh, I’m actually feeling amazing.” Izuku took a bite of the omurice Ochako had handed him, and melted. It tasted amazing, and he leaned closer to her to side hug her. When he pulled away, she smiled at him with a confused look on her face, and he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “This tastes amazing, ‘Chako.”
Ochako beamed at him, and leaned on her hands to watch him as he finished eating. After he was done, she took the dishes over to the sink, and started rinsing them for the dishwasher. “So,” She called over her shoulder as she set them in the dishwasher. “How would you like to go into town today after school? I was thinking we might be able to check out that new hero merch store.”
“That would be great!” Ochako made a noise of confirmation, and dried her hands, nodding at Katsuki as she left the kitchen. “Speaking of school, what time is it? I hope we aren’t late.” Izuku checked his pocket for his phone, and sighed when he couldn't find it.
She shook her head slightly, and tilted her head back towards Katsuki. “He’s still here, so unless he’s deathly ill, it’s not time to leave yet.” For good measure, she pulled out her phone and checked the time. “Yeah, we’re good for a while.”
Right as she said that, Denki ran past, his bag in hand, then skidded to a stop. He walked back to stand closer to her, and opened his mouth, then closed it. This kept going for a few seconds, in which Ashido and Mashirao also ran out, stopping next to Denki, before he rubbed the back of his head in confusion, finally speaking.
“Wait, it’s not time to leave yet?”
Ochako shook her head, a soft chuckle flitting out of her lips. “No, Denki. It’s six thirty, not seven thirty.” Denki made an ‘ooo’ sound, and walked over to one of the couches, promptly collapsing onto Shoto, who let out a grunt of annoyance, but made no attempt to move him.
She turned to Izuku, and held out her hand. “We could go get your stuff for classes?” Izuku nodded and stood, walking with her to his room.
As they collected the stray books that had found their way into many different corners of the room, Izuku had a smile wide on his face.
Ochako was an amazing partner, and she was so endlessly sweet, despite all of his ailments and problems.
He stepped closer to her, and took her hand, gently kissing the back of it. “Thank you, for being wonderful.” She beamed at him, and enveloped him in a hug.
“Thank you for wanting to be with me, Izuku.”
Izuku slightly pulled away at that, a confused look on his face. “I’ll never stop loving you, Ochako, and I’ll always stay with you.”
“And I, you.”
