Work Text:
Ace wasn't in the greatest mood is what Levi took notice in. The red head doesn't seem to ever have the greatest days but after getting blamed for the tension during lunch wasn't a great position.
Ace stormed out of the cafeteria without his place.
"Was that really necessary?" Levi commented.
Everyone just seemed to roll their eyes or sign...and Rose was too busy sleeping to even notice the drama.
"Maybe someone should check up on him?" Eden suggested.
Levi nodded in response and decided to take Ace's plate with him since it wasn't even eaten yet.
The cafeteria seemed to go quiet with an occasional whisper but that wasn't his concern at all. Sure it was easy to butt heads with the hot head but there was no need to antagonize him.
No good person would leave someone alone in this situation. That was what the Ultimate Personal Stylist thought anyway.
It was a quiet walk throughout their prison. That could mean that Ace has calmed down or has taken his frustration out on some innocent pillow. Whatever it was Levi was prepared to help him through it.
Sure his ultimate talent had nothing to do with psychology of any sorts. Nico was the closest but they are a pet therapist and probably on the worst terms with the Ultimate Jockey.
He let out a sigh and knocked on Ace's door. There was no indication that he was in there or heard him unfortunately...
Levi decided to call out. "Ace?"
It felt like a minute went by with total silence. Levi briefly considered leaving the good outside his door.
He heard the sound of a click of a door unlocking and the door was opened slightly before Ace peeked out.
"What do you want?" He grumbled.
Levi was surprised he managed to get this far.
"You forgot your food and also I want to talk to you." He explained.
The jockey just stared and seemed to search for some sort of deception or joke.
"Yeah, whatever, come in." Ace rolled his eyes before opening the door fully.
They both found themselves sitting on the bed with awkward silence. Levi was unsure of the approach he should take. His hands held the plate sternly.
"So are you going to hand my plate over or what?" Ace questioned with a hint of annoyance.
He quickly handed over the plate. "Oh, right here."
Another few moments of silence overcame them. Levi wasn't the great at communication and Ace seemed to be in no mood to speak.
"Thanks." Ace reluctantly mumbled.
Levi was shocked at the manners. The red head never used them before so it was a foreign concept.
Ace looked over and noticed this. "You don't need to look at my like I just grew another head y'know!"
He had forgotten he was staring with a shocked expression. He didn't mean for Ace to put up walls again.
"It's not like! Promise." He hadn't meant to be impolite.
"I think I'll just eat later, ok."
"Oh, that's fine as long as you take care for yourself that's fine for me." Levi was softly spoken.
The jockey seemed to be distracted. The stylist was confused until he realized it was his nail polish that seemed to interest him.
"Hey, have you even actually painted your nails before?" He inquired sensing this could be a topic he could handle.
Ace scoffed, "no I wear gloves why would I waste the time?"
"But would you like to?"
Ace looked dumbfounded by the offer. It was like being shown a bit of kindness was rare to him.
"It's easy to remove if you decide you don't like it and you can cover it!" Levi was trying to ease the other.
"Fine." Ace caved in.
The stylist was just happy the hockey's short-temperted attitude wasn't being shown. Which either meant he just got tired or may actually feel at ease. Levi prefers the latter.
When he took out some black nail polish Ace seemed surprised that he was just carrying it around. Levi noticed this of course.
"I just carry nail polish around when I need to reapply it." Levi chuckled explaining.
"Yeah, yeah just do it already."
The Ultimate Personal Stylist made sure to pay attention to his work. Ace was great at keeping his hands still (which was a surprise) for Levi.
He came to realize how soft his hands actually were under the gloves. Sure they were roughed up as expected but they were well taken care of. Perhaps it was because they both were relaxed at this time.
The jockey was unnaturally quiet. All they both heard were their own breathing and the beating of their own heart. Levi felt at peace with this activity.
They were both focused on Levi's work. The repetitive movement felt relaxing to them both. Ace finally snapped into reality when he no longer felt the other's hands on his.
"So?" Levi broke the silence.
"Huh?" He seemed distracted even though he was looking the stylist in the eyes.
"Your nails! I think I did a pretty good job." He gave a small smile.
"Oh," he broke eye contact, "yeah thanks I like it."
"I'm glad." The brunet's smile didn't break as he stood up.
The Ultimate Jockey followed quickly after and crossed his arms. He seemed to be waiting for something.
"Well? We good here right?" He inquired.
Levi nodded at the question.
"Ok, so like-" Ace started his sentence but got cut off by something unexpected.
Levi Fontana, The Ultimate Stylist, had went in for a hug. A fucking hug.
Now both of them had no idea why he decided this was the appropriate decision in this very moment.
"I-" Ace was frustrated? No, he was flustered by a hug. A hug?
"Just take care of yourself!" Levi suggested.
"What is happening?" He asked when the other let go.
"Uhm, may I ask permission for something, Ace?" Levi's polite attitude just seemed to remain the same.
"Sure..?" Ace agreed curious on what it was.
He wasn't sure what it was. He was completely confident this guy wasn't going to kill him in a killing game. He trusted he wouldn't. Maybe he's actually lost it this time!
Levi gently cupped the other's flustered face and titled his head to the side. Their lips met for a moment. It was a tender kiss. Short and sweet. It didn't stop them both blushing.
A mumbled goodbye was heard and he was left in his room with his heart beating fast.
"What the fuck!?" Ace screamed in his head. The concept of someone caring was too much.
"That was the right action when you feel warmth for another right?" Levi mumbled to himself. He never had that happen before so he was unsure.
