Work Text:
The winter gathering was something enjoyed by most nations. It was decided by the aciants years ago that every ten years in winter all of them would gather up and have fun with each other for non business reasons.
As the years passed by and more nations appeared the gatherings got more and more exciting. This year there was one and it was going to be a fun one. They were going to some winter resort with things like skiing and ice skating all within walking distance from the hotel.
Italy had been really excited because one of the countries that no one could seem to remember the name of and they were too scared to ask said that he would promise to teach all of them how to play hockey.
Germany wasn't as excited because it meant that he would have to share a room with someone and sharing a house with his brother already gave him headaches on the regular. Germany hadn't been talking about it non stop like Italy but even he was happy for the events that were to come with the winter gathering.
“Draw a circle, that's the earth! Draw a circle, that's the earth! Draw a circle, that's the-”
“Feli, I’m trying to drive so could you be a bit quieter dear.” Hungry interrupted looking at Italy in the car mirror.
“Ve, I will.” Italy started fidgeting in his seat, which was also annoying but a lot less.
Germany stared out the window, taking a break from the paper that he had been writing for his boss. Some of Gramina’s grandchildren ( + North Italy and hungry because they were Austria said so) were driving to the resort together in a rented car. Austria had started driving but was rarely falling asleep after his red-eye flight to the airport so hungry was driving instead.
Their trip had lasted a few hours so far and now the only nations that were awake are hungry (of course),Italy, Switzerland who gave up long ago on being comfortable in his chair, and himself. It was late at night and Germany believed it would not be long until they got to the resort.
Instead of just all coming at the same time with no reservations like a pack of ravenous wolves they were coming in little groups and had made reservations several months in advance due to Germany making them and planning while no one else would. He was hoping that most people wouldn't fight over rooming arrangements, he did take requests and paired people with who he thought would get along.
As he started to drift off to sleep (with no help from Italy who was still bouncing around in the seatbelt that Germany had forced him to wear) he felt a rough swing which moved everyone around enough that they all woke up.
Hungry stuck her head out the window of the car and started insulting the driver who had nearly run into her. “GO KILL YOURSELF YOU ANYA BASZ.” She sighed and continued driving like nothing had happened, she looked back to the very surprised and very suddenly awakened group of nations and smiled. “We'll be there in a few monuments so get ready.” She then looked back to the round ignoring what had happened.
True to her word, it was only five minutes before they arrived at the hotel. Germany went to help Switzerland unpack the car some of the others headed inside.
When they had their bags they came to see how the others were doing with checking in. Hungry was eyeing the man at the front desk that had the nameplate of Terry (why do i keep writing bistro huddy characters into all my fanfic instead of making a quick oc). Terry was arguing loudly with someone on the phone.
“Like I told you THEY WERE SPECIFICKY TOLD NOT TO HAVE A LATE CHECK OUT!”
Someone speaks over the phone.
“That's nice and all but what do you want me to tell them?”
…
“I’ll try, roll tide- I mean goodbye.”
The middle aged man gets off the phone and gives a very ‘customer service, i was raised in america’ type smile. He smiles and starts talking in a voice that sounds very rural accent “I’m sorry but one of your rooms is unavailable, I can get you another room but we only have single bed ones available.” He gives a tired smile looking like he's prepared to be yelled at.
Hungry is completely understanding. “Oh no dont worry about it, you're fine.” She turns to the other nations and does the ‘not it’ thing with her nose. “So, which duo will it be?”
Most of the other countries do some form of ‘hell no’ with motions except for Italy and Germany who were in the counter fighting.
“STOP PETTING OTHER PEOPLE'S DOGS!”
“But whyyyyy????”
“Well, it looks like we have winners, you can give as are keys now that that's decided.” Hungry smiles and takes the keys when Terry hands them out and mudders ‘roll tide’ under his breath. She hands the keys to the other nations and gives Italy one tied to a lanyard she brought so he doesn't lose it.
“Why does it say single bed on the card?” Germany asked as quickly as ever to find the details.
“You guys lost so you have to sleep in the single bed,” Hungry stated and went off to hand Liciestighen her card.
As Germany and Italy stared at each other the exhausted man at the front desk mudtires the same ‘roll tide’.

The room was big enough, with a big open window showing the beautiful forest beyond the resort. The room had a nice cozy feel to it even though Germeny would change all of this just for a fucking extra bed.
Italy immediately walked over to the bed and lied down without bothering to change into his bajamas so Germany unpacked their stuff.
He neatly folds Italy's clothes and puts them into one of the doors in the dresser, he puts the suitcases away, he unpacks the bags, and when he is done he looks at the bed.
He doesn't want to invade Italy's space so he grabs a blanket from the chair and finds a nice spot on the ground.

Germany awoke to being dragged across the carpet of the hotel room. He heard some speaking that his still half awake brain didn't have the energy to understand. “Why are you so heavy luddy?”
“Where were we going?” He asked in a groggy voice looking up at the figure who had been dragging him.
The figure smiled and responded, “You looked cold so we're going to bed.”
Ludwig nodded because that seemed to make sense so he walked to the bed and fell asleep easily much to the figure relief.
In the morning Germany was shocked to say the least.
