Chapter Text

“OK, Sammy, you’re ok.” Dean sad to his brother in passenger seat, who was bleeding all over the place. It was spoused to be an easy ghost hunt, but it turned out it was something bigger. And now Sam sam is bleeding from gashes that are all over his body, because he was thrown rotting wooden flor. His breathing is labored and the hit in a head kept him unconscious for far too long for Dean’s liking. He found him after hearing loud crash in the living room of abandoned house they were hunting in. After Sam woke up with a painted groan Dean gathered him and haul him into impala.
Sam’s wound were deep and still bleeding and he was half out of it, if it was from the blood lost or head injury Dean didn’t know.
“How are you hanging in there?” Dean asked.
“M’ ok” Sam slurred in response.
“Yea Sammy, I think I saw zombies that were more alive that you are right now” Dean joked even though he was eyeing his brother and considering if they can managed that in hotel room or if maybe ER isn’t the better option.
He made is decision quickly after Sam breathing started coughing.
“We are going to the hospital Sam, hang in there”
“I’m fine D’n, don’t need hosp’tal. Sam said and broke into another coughing fit.
“Not an option there tiger” Dean said while he put hand on Sams shoulder to support him.

“We’re here, just give me a second a get you out” the older brother said while he was parking car in front of small clinic in the town they were just staying in.
Sam only groaned from passenger seat, too weak to actually answer.
After Dean almost carried Sam into the clinic he was surprised to found lot of patients in the waiting room but no staff.
“Help, I need help over here” he called into the hallway. They had to wait only second before young doctor come out of one of the doors.
There was surprised expression on her face in response to seeing the two young men in the middle of night. The one who was calling for help was dragging a taller men that was bleeding sluggishly and only half conscious from what she could see. For her credit she was quick to school her expression into something calm and quickly walked the short distance to help support the tall men.
“Let me help” the doctor said and grab Sam’s arm. “We have to get him into exam room” she stated as she started walking. “What happened?”
“He fell through rotten flor” Dean answered quickly. “I’m Dean and this is Sam” he added with nod of head to Sam.
“Put him on the table” she ordered and looked at him suspiciously because he looks more like he fell through five flors or had a fight with pack of wolfs.
Dean did as ordered. He didn’t like how Sam wasn’t saying anything, just let him-self to by laid on the table in centre of the room. “You be as new soon Sammy, I'm right here, you’re good. He said to Sam as he saw the panicked expression on his little brothers face.
“I don’t like his breathing” the doctor mummered to her self. “I’m doctor Jane Perry but you can call me Jane” she said loudly while putting latex glows on. She then came to the exam tabel and lifted part of it so Sam was sitting up a little bit.
Sam looked her and tried to focused his eyes but his head was pounding and he felt nauseous. Dean took his hand into his and started murmuring soft word to him, not that Sam had the energy to make sense of them but he was grateful never the less. It was getting harder to breathe and he felt every wound on his body. They were deep and some of them had probably still pieces of woof stuck in them. But he could see Deans calm expression and when his brother was calm me knew he is ok. 'Dean will take care of me.' The thought flew through his mind.
“I’m sorry it’s only me helping you today we are extremely under stuffed and on top of it all half of them is at home sick with flu but I asures you that he you are in the best care” She said to Sam and Dean.
She quickly grabbed stethoscope that was in pocket of her scrub, put it underneath his shirt and started listening to Sam’s lungs and heart.
Jane first put the stethoscope to the young man chest and listened to his heart. After moment she moved to his back to listen to his lungs.
“Take as deep breath as you can” she instructed.
Sam registered the order and tried to comply but as he started to take a breath he started coughing again and the pain in his chest was starting to get worst.
“Its all right Sam.” Dr. Perry soothers softly, while reaching back to take an oxygen meter to put it on his finger. She looks at the numbers on the device and decides to put in on an oxygen mask.
“It’s to help him breathe little better while we do some x-rays” Jane is saying while bringing portable x-ray over to the bed.
“Sure doc.” The older brother says while not letting his eyes of his brother, who is clearly too out of it to say anything.
“Did he hit his head? Was he unconscious? Doctor asks and looks over x-rays results in the same time.
“I found him unconscious and he stayed like the for a moment” Dean answered.
She takes her flashlight and examine his eyes and then make him follow her finger. “Good doesn’t looks like concussion, but we will do CT just to be safe too.”
“Ok, his x-rays is good, some broken ribs but they didn’t puncture his lungs, so that is good. He probably has bruised lungs and with the broken ribs its the reason why his breathing is so labored. We have to take him to CT scans but first we have to stop his bleeding” Jane said quickly and wish for at least one nurse to be available.
Dean was still holding Sams hand in an attempt to calm him down because he knew him much is brother hates hospitals no matter how much he need them.
Sam can hear the doctor to prepare her toll but he tries to focus on Dean face and his hand in his that keep him grounded. The numerous cuts on his body hurst but at least it help him to stay conscious. “Help me undress his shirt. “ he hears doctor Perry say Dean before there are hands on hem and his flannel and under shirt being taken off. It hurts his wounds more as the dried blood sticks the fabric to his skin and he can fell some of the cuts start bleeding again.
“Its alright little brother we will be out of here in no time.” Dean says trying to soud calm but Sam knows him too well and can hear how scared he is right now.
With the patients shirt off Jane can finally se the wounds on his body. There is too many of them and she can say just by looking at them that some of them must have been caused by something else the falling through wooden flor. She can also see all the old scars and when her eyes wander to his chest and she spots his tattoo she freezes for a second. She was right, they are hunters as she suspected, from their clothes, behavior and the injuries he come in with and now it is confirmed. Who else would have demon trap tattooed just like she has. ‘Ok so they are hunters, not the priority right now Jane’ she think to her-self.
“Sorry Sam I know you are in pain but I would like to get the CT scan done before I can give you some pain meds because the head injury.” Jane sad and the hunter just let out a hum.
Sam was so tired and in pain. He looked at the doctor as she was explaining what is she doing, she was tightening blood pressure cuff on his arm right at this moment and god she was beautiful. Not beautiful like magazine supermodels but she had her dark brown hair put back in a clip and was wearing just scrubs and no doctors coat. She looked focused and professional and there was something about her determined expression that made her look exquisite. Well that is something better to think about than his own misery.
“Your blood pressure is too low because the blood loos” She sad and snapped him out of his thoughts. “I’ll give you some IV fluids to help with that.”
“Ok” Sam croak before Jane turn around and started rummaging through some drawers and cabinets.
“Its gonna be quick” she sad to Sam before she glanced to Dean just in tome to see him paled at the sight of a needle she was preparing. She was being careful not to show it to Sam because the needle looked intimidating to some patient and she tried to avoid it. But by the look of Deans face her patient will not be the problem today. “Hey Dean” Jane sad softly not to startle him “you can step out if this is a problem but it’ll be over soon”
Dean quickly looked away and cleared his throat. “What? No that is fine, go on. Fix him up doc so we can get out on the road.” He sad trying to sound casual.
She looked at him skeptically but turned her attention back to Sam. She changed gloves and cleaned back of his hand with alcohol wipe.
The younger brother could see Deans expression and he knew that he hates needles but the hunter tried to pretend that nothing was happening. And honestly Sam was too tired to call him out on it but he’ll leave it for later when he’s not feeling so shitty. Doctor Perry was explaining everything even thou he couldn’t follow it all. He then felt prick in his hand as the needle broke skin but it was quickly done and the needle was being removed and only plastic tube was left behind and plaster was put over it.
Jane connected bag of IV fluids to help with his blood pressure a dehydration before she more alcohol wipes and gauze to clean his wounds.
He tried to stay as still as possible as she cleaned and disinfected his cuts. “I’ll have to stitch up some of the deeper wounds.” She sad and prepared anesthetics and sewing kit.
Dean watched as doctor Perry skillfully cleaned his brothers cuts and then proceed to inject skin with local anesthetics and stitch them up in matter of minutes. While he was watching anxiously because he was no used to trusting someone else with his baby brother.
When Jane was finishing on the last cut she asked “Is there anything that hurt, any more cuts on something?”
It took Sam a moment to register the question and form an answer. “No, I think you get it all.” He said finally.
“How is your head?”
“Hurts.”
“I bet, now we need to do CT scans and if everything is good I’ll give you some pain killer and you can rest in peace without any more poking and prodding.
Sam has no strength to response right now so he just slowly nod his head. In that moment nurse rushes through door. “Sorry, there is too many patients and not enough staff” the nurse says in hurry.
“Yea, I know. Nothing we can do right now.” Jane says “I’m glad you’re here now. You can help me put a gown on him and take him to CT.”
The nurse quickly complies and in a minute she is wheeling him on a stretcher to get CT scans. Dean wants to come with him but gentle hand on his shoulder stops him. He turns around and looks at the doctor. “She takes him to CT and then to his room, it will take only couple of minutes but you can wait for him there if you want. He should be alright, he was conscious the whole time here and responsive even thou he was little bit out of it, which I would add more to the blood lost than concussion.” Jane tries to reassure Dean.

When they take Sam to his hospital room Dean is already waiting there for him. “Hey, Sammy, how you’re doing?” He asked as he rushed to stand next Sam bed.
“I’m good D’n, tired” Sam said quietly.
“You can rest now Sammy, I’m here.” The hunter said and watched his brothers eyes close and slowly fall a sleep, with help of pain killer they surely gave him.
Dean sat on a chair next to his bed and finally he was able to calm down with presence of his sleeping brother next to him where he could keep an eye on him.
It was the first time he aloud him self to think about the case they have been working on. There was unfinished business that needed to be finished but he have to do more research because it was not normal ghost, there was something else too. Something bigger and he didn’t know what. Well, for now he will let Sam rest and he can figure out the rest later.

Jane was sitting alone with cup of tea in a moment before another emergency and was thinking about Sam and Dean. She never even give the insurance paperwork to fill out but if they are hunter as she is certain they are they probably don’t have one and she’ll deal with it differently.
Hunters in a town isn’t good. And by the looks of it it is not something small. She groans, that is exactly what she was trying to run away from. But now she is in it again because if her instincts are right, and they always are, this is something big and evil and she wouldn’t be able to turn away from this.
