Chapter 1: Letter to Present Mic

Chapter Text

Dear Present Mic

Hi! I’m Midoriya Izuku, I’m 9, and my teacher told us to write to our favourite hero!

Originally I was going to write to Eraserhead because he is tied with you and Hawks as my collective favourite, but he is underground so I thought there was more of a chance he would actually read this. My teacher said I was being silly though and told me to write to someone on a specific list, and then it was between you and Hawks. I chose you because I’m pretty sure (if my research and theories are right) you are close with Eraserhead, so I thought maybe you could tell him he has a fan? I don’t want him to think he doesn’t have any!

Anyway, enough about the other heroes, this is about you! Present Mic! I really love your radio show, and I know you probably aren’t going to read this far through if at all, so I guess I can just ramble without annoying you. You can stop reading here if you aren’t interested I guess…

I just want to say how awesome it is that you stand up for people of all kinds of quirks and how much you talk about the pros and CONS of quirks, because it is such an interesting topic and no one seems to go over it? I really liked your most recent interviews with a few captured villains and how you talked about their quirk awakenings leading them to where they were. So many people miss that, so you noticing is a clear sign you are smarter then you let on!

Also, while writing this letter, I heard about a fight you were just in! Everyone keeps talking about how well you did in the actual fight part, but I think they are all glossing over how you diffused the situation a lot. You managed to keep it from breaking into a fight until everyone had been safely evacuated and you spent the entire time you were fighting trying to convince the villain to stop! Also the villains quirk is so cool! The ability to turn off certain senses? That would be such an amazing heroes quirk! Imagine the damage they could stop with that! Villains going blind and deaf would be much easier to capture! Or they could help greatly with people with sensory issues! I wonder if they can also turn on senses, so like if someone was blind, maybe they could restore the sight? I’m not sure, could be interesting.

Sorry for that ramble, even though you probably haven’t read this far. I mean I know my teacher- who’s supposed to check all of these to make sure we don’t say anything bad- won’t read this far. Can’t blame her. I’m quirkless after all. I guess since no one will actually be reading this I can rant a little… I’m quirkless, so pretty much everyone hates me (yay!). I’ve gotten used to it, but it still sucks, especially when my old friends make it clear they also hate me. I wish quirks were less… vital to our society I guess… like I love quirks, but I feel people put too much weight on them, you know? Oh well, moving on I guess.

If you have read this far, thank you so much! I think I’m going to write a letter to Hawks and send it outside of school, I hope he reads it too. I don’t know where to send a letter to Eraserhead though… that sucks… if you have read this and you know of a way I could send him a letter, I would hugely appreciate it if you could tell me!

Thank you so much for reading

Yours sincerely,
Midoriya Izuku

Hizashi loved fan-mail, it always made him grin wildly, and he usually found himself reading it while wrapped around his husband or curled up next to the man on the couch. This one however was even more special, because for the first time ever, someone mentioned the most important man in his life.

“Sho! Sho they want to talk to you!” Present Mic screamed, feeling the tell tale way his quirk got cut off by his husband, but not minding in the least as he shoved the letter under Shouta’s nose.

“Huh,” Shouta huffed in surprise , reading the letter, “Kid sounds pretty smart. It’s unusual for someone to not only know about me but also know we are close. You going to write back?”

“Of course!”

“Hmm, tell him I say hi then. And that he can write a letter to me through your agency.”
