Chapter Text
Triton groaned as he floated in place while the much smaller moons flew around him, chasing each other. Their giggles filled the space around them as they tagged each other and screamed in joy before going back to get their revenge.
He sighed as he just watched the kids be kids.
Something inside him stirred but he pushed it away, going back to sewing patches on his jacket.
The jacket was torn and worn out over time since it has been the only jacket he has ever had. He should really get a new one, but he has grown way attached to this jacket. It was like a fond memory to him. He felt safe with it.
“Whatcha doin?” Neptune chirped in, causing Triton to prick his finger on the needle. “Ow, fuc-” Triton became silent as he watched the small moons fly over to Neptune, happy for his return. They floated around his face and upper body as Neptune cupped them together and gave them a small kiss to each of his moons.
Meanwhile Triton just watched, his face looking upwards at the ice giant.
It stirred again once more but he just shook his head, trying to calm down.
He let out a shaky sigh as he wiped away the forming tears in his eyes.
Oh how he wishes to be an actual Neptunian moon. Not some random being they keep around as a babysitter.
“Triton!” Neptune called out to him as Triton sighed before floating upwards to him, fixing his sunglasses.
“What?”
Neptune released the moons back onto Triton, “Go have fun with the other moons! I don’t want you to be here with the small moons all alone. Maybe you can even join the fun instead of just… being edgy.”
Triton rolled his eyes and groaned, “Ughhhh fine. Come on, kids.”
The small moons cheered as they followed close to Triton as they began to leave Neptune’s orbit and head towards the center of the Solar System to meet with the other moons.

Triton continued sewing, taking a few glances to make sure the kids were doing fine.
“Calm down, they won’t get hurt.” Titania chimed in as she sat next to him.
“Yeah… I don’t really know why I’m even here.”
“What do you mean?”
Triton placed his jacket down on his lap and turned towards her, “I mean like I don’t even know why I’m here with them. Neptune can take care of them all by himself so why am I here with them? Unless he is running away from responsibility which isn’t fair.”
Titania gave him a sad smile, “You know how your planet is-”
“He isn’t my planet.”
“You know what I mean. He isn’t doing too well and well… he needs the extra help.”
Triton sighed as he picked up his jacket and kept sewing.
“Alright let’s play some asteroid dodgeball!” Ganymede shouted.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Titan asked.
“Of course! Pssh, if the planets can play it, so can we!”
“I mean after the whole… you know.”
“Ugh dude that was all in the past. Besides, we aren't harming anyone. Unless you are a chicken, Titan.”
Titan was taken aback before he narrowed his eyes at him, “I’m not!”
“Sure you aren’t. Whatever, let’s get going. Yo, Triton! Get on my team! I want a fast player.”
Triton looked over at him, “Can’t. I’m on babysitting watch.”
“Ugh, you’re so lame.” Ganymede shouted before turning to his right, “Tethys, you are on my team.”
Tethys grinned as he floated over to him.
“Okay, Titan, you can pick out your team.”
“Luna.”
Luna spat out his drink as he looked over at him, “Huh?”
“Heh if you don’t mind. You really are something cool.”
Luna smiled as he floated next to him as Ganymede made retching sounds, “Ew. Anyways,” Ganymede said as he began to assemble his team, followed by Titan.
Triton kept sewing, ignoring the upcoming chaos that was about to break out.
“Alright! Babe, be the referee.”
Europa sighed, “Fine fine. If you get hit, you are out! Eliminate all the players from the opposing teams to win. Ready?”
The teams backed off to their sides, asteroids next to them as they held them close with their gravity.
“Go!” Europa shouted as the moons scattered, some chasing for others while the rest remained back, holding their attack unless provoked.
“Seems familiar.” Triton mumbled as he glanced over to the small moons who were now playing duck-duck-goose. He couldn’t help but smile a bit.
“Take this!” Mimas shouted as he launched the asteroid towards Callisto who dodged it with ease. “How about mine?” She smirked before launching the asteroid right at him, hitting him.
Triton watched in awe before Dione went after Callisto, hitting her.
“Nooooo! Callisto!” Io yelled as Callisto gave him a thumbs up, “Heh, relax.” She said before realizing she was ignored as Io took down Dione as well as Enceladus who was sneaking up on him.
One by one, they kept falling until it was just Luna, Titan, and Ganymede.
“Dammit…” Ganymede mumbled to himself, realizing how cooked he was.
“Gotcha now!” Titan yelled as he launched an asteroid head on towards him. Ganymede flinched until he caught the asteroid with his gravity, launching it back at Titan, hitting him.
“Ha! Take that!” Ganymede laughed as Titan winced in pain.
“Hey! That was too hard!” Luna shouted as Ganymede spun an asteroid on his finger. “Oh really? Well that’s too bad.” Ganymede joked as Luna gritted his teeth, the teasing getting under his crust.
“What are you going to do about it?” Ganymede laughed, unaware of what was about to happen.
Luna’s eyes became pitch black as he smirked.
“This.” DSOTM chuckled as he swung his arm hard, the asteroid launching at him at terrifying speeds.
Ganymede’s core froze as he jumped out of the way, turning over to see where the asteroid was heading.
Triton was also following the fast speed asteroid only for his core to sink.
The small moons were playing marbles with tiny asteroids, unaware of the impending doom that was heading towards them.
Triton quickly stood up, his jacket being tossed to the side as he ran towards them.
“KIDS! MOVE!” He screamed, his core racing as the asteroid seemed much faster than him.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
The small moons turned over to see the giant rock inches away from them before Triton jumped in the way before a sickening crunch filled the area around him.
DSOTM covered his mouth before Luna took back control and stared in horror at what he had just done.
The other moons stared in pure horror.
Proteus' eyes were wide as liquid poured down his face.
He wiped it away before glancing down to see it was blue.
He then looked in front of him and stared at Triton, his upper body broken into multiple pieces and his head completely destroyed.
And Proteus screamed.
