Work Text:

Jackster silently watches as Cuble falls asleep. He carefully places a soft blanket over him, turns off the lights and closes the door. Sitting on the sofa, he lets out a sigh. Taking care of kids can be tiring. He leans on the cushions, closing his eyes. Not long enough, he feels someone nudging his arm.

“HEY.” Tango grins as he sits next to Jackster.

“Oh, hey. I just finished putting Cuble to sleep.” Jackster looks at the closed bedroom door, and then looks at Tango again.

“SWEET.” Tango then pauses for a moment. “DO YOU WANNA, GO GET SOME BEER OR SOMETHING.”

“Uh, sure. I think we have some in the fridge.” Jackster stands up from the couch and walks over to the kitchen. He opens the fridge, takes a whole box of beer and closes the door. Picking up some chips too, he walks back to the couch. “There we go.” He then places them on the mini table near the couch.

Tango sits on the floor near the table, and Jackster follows suit. They both open the can of beer, graces their cans and start to drink. Moments later, the bags of chips were almost gone and there were already some empty cans on the table.

“It’s great to finally have some time to ourselves.” Jackster lets out a somewhat happy sigh as he takes a sip of his can.

“YEAH. WORKS BEEN KILLING ME LATELY.” Tango chugs his can, and slams it on the table.

“You really look like you could use a rest…”

“PROBABLY. I THINK YOU COULD USE SOME.” Tango glances at the bedroom door. “TAKING CARE OF HIM MIGHT BE SOME TROUBLE, BUT YOU’RE DOING A GOOD JOB.”

“Thanks. I try.” Jackster takes another sip, and reaches for the remaining chips. But at the same time, Tango reaches for the chips too, their fingers brushed against each other. He quickly takes his hands off, eyes wide. His face felt a bit hot, but he brushed it off thinking it was just the alcohol. Tango bit on the chip, Jackster couldn’t tell what he was thinking.

There was an awkward silence, Jackster glanced at Tango, who was surprisingly looking at him as well. His face was red, probably from drinking.

“...Uh, I’m just gonna get more of these chips.” Jackster tried getting up, but he was stopped by someone grabbing his arm.

“YOU DON’T HAVE TO.” Tango tugged his arm, moving Jackster closer to him. Jackster was confused about what was happening but he just scooched up to him.

“Alright.” He placed the can of beer on the table, looking at Tango again. He looked somewhat tired, Jackster placed a hand on his face. “I think you drank too much. Look at your face.” His face felt warm, and much redder than before. “Shouldn’t we go get sleep now?”

“NOT REALLY.” Tango responded lazily.

“Ok then…” Jackster feels Tango leaning closer to him. Man he was really drunk, wasn’t he? But Jackster somewhat liked being close to him like this, so he didn’t do much. Instead, he extended his arm, his hand on Tango’s shoulder.

Something unexpected happened as Tango wrapped his arms around Jackster, like a hug. Jackster was caught off guard, eyes wide like a deer caught on headlights. “What are you doing…?” He asks quietly.

“BRO HUG?” Tango looks at him expectantly. Jackster takes a deep breath and hugs him back. “Yeah, bro hug…” He feels his face heat up again, but he knows for sure it's not because of the alcohol this time. Jackster could feel Tango’s warmth, hugging him like this. The two just stay like this for a while, enjoying the peaceful silence. Jackster gently pats Tango’s back, he didn’t know why he did it but he felt like he should. “THAT TICKLES.” Tango says but doesn’t stop him.

Jackster feels his heart pounding, faster than usual. He hopes Tango doesn’t notice this, but continues to hug him. He was much taller than Tango so that his head was almost buried in his chest. But he bends down his torso so he can see Tango’s face.

Jackster never observed his face like this, but he could see every little detail, being this close. “STOP STARING AT ME LIKE YOUR GONNA KISS ME.” Tango blurts out and Jackster snaps out of his thoughts.

“What?”

“YOU WERE LIKE, STARING AT MY FACE FOR WHAT? 5 MINUTES?” Tango raises an eyebrow.

“Gulp…! Uh uh uhm sorry!!!” Jackster quickly averts his gaze.

“WELL, YOU COULD’VE JUST ASKED.” Tango leans closer to Jackster’s face. Before Jackster could say anything, Tango gave a peck on his cheek.

“UHHHHH??? HUH… UH. UHM.” Jackster panics as he blushes furiously. He didn’t expect Tango to actually do it. Tango was already leaning for a second one, but before he could actually do it, he collapsed in Jackster’s arms. He passed out. Jackster lets out a sigh of relief, but part of him wishes what if Tango actually kissed him.

He gently moves up, trying not to wake him up. He placed a blanket on top of Tango, cleaned the cans and headed to bed, heart still pounding.

“OW MY HEAD… UH, MORNING.” Tango wakes up from his sleep, looking at Jackster who was standing right next to him.

“Morning. Cuble is still asleep by the way.” Jackster replies.

“GOOD… UH, WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY NIGHT?” Tango stands up, almost tripping on the blankets.

“Uhm, nothing much… We just drank some beer together.” Jackster grabs his arms, helping him balance.

“THAT'S WHY MY HEAD WAS HURTING SO BADLY…” Tango shrugs as he sits on the couch. Jackster wonders if he remembers anything from yesterday night, but he thinks it’s best not. He sits next to Tango. “Don’t you have to go to work?”

“TODAYS A DAY OFF.” Tango looks at Jackster for a moment and shrugs again. “I CAN’T REMEMBER ANYTHING FROM LAST NIGHT, MAN I DRANK TOO MUCH.”

“O-oh. I see.” Jackster somewhat feels disappointed but tries to keep cool. He doesn’t want unnecessary feelings piling up.

Suddenly, there were sounds of someone crying loudly.

“Oh, Cuble’s awake… I’ll take care. Go get some rest!” With that, Jackster walks towards the bedroom Cuble’s in.

“UH, GOOD LUCK.” Tango watches Jackster walk away. When he’s sure Jackster’s gone, he lets out a deep sigh. What was he on last night??? He told Jackster he didn’t remember anything but he totally did. Every single bit.

Tango sighs and swears to himself not to drink too much again.

Probably.
