Chapter Text
There was a princess sitting in her lavish bedroom. She looked longingly into a photo on her nightstand. A photo of a pink hedgehog, smiling widely into the camera. A smile that the princess lived for.
“Your highness?” called a guard.
Blaze finally lifted her head away from the photo and towards the door to her room.
“We’re prepared for your departure,” the guard said from the other side, “Come out whenever you are ready.”
“Of course,” Blaze stood upright, “I’ll be there in just a moment. Thank you.”
Blaze walked over to her mirror. She brushed out some stray, purple hairs sticking out of her face, and triple checked that her makeup was as perfect as it could be. She took a deep breath, and turned and left her room.
**********
There was a punk who was grimacing at the ceiling above her bed. Her mind was fixed on one thing only, and it was pissing her off. That goddamn pink hedgehog, the first person she met at this stupid Restoration, and the first person she really felt cared about her. She wanted her eyes on her all the time, but the punk couldn’t seem to keep her gaze for more than a few minutes.
“Ma’am?” Kit whispered, “A-Are you okay?”
Surge finally stopped staring at nothing and turned to the fennec below her.
“Fine,” Surge said, not even convincing herself.
“Are you thinking of Ms. Rose?”
Surge practically gurgled with rage. She just jumped off their bunk bed and angrily marched out of their room.
**********
There was a lizard all alone on an island to the north. She was idly polishing the tip of her spear. While her hands worked hard, her mind was working harder. She had no friends on this island, but she had them on another island. They talked sometimes, but that wasn’t enough for her. She missed them. She missed her.
She heard a roar in the sky above the jungle. She jolted upright, nervously clutching her spear. The roaring continued. She shakily followed it until she made her way to the beach. In front of her, a familiar red biplane had just finished landing.
“Trip!” Amy cheered as she jumped out of the Tornado.
The hedgehog ran over to the sungazer and wrapped her in a tight hug. Trip dropped her spear and nervously wrapped her arms around Amy.
“She’s…so soft…and smells really good…” she thought.
“Heyo, Trip!” Sonic called, jumping off the Tornado’s wings, “Long time no see!”
Tails similarly greeted her, waving from the plane’s cockpit. Trip felt so overwhelmed.
“Wh-What are you all doing here?” she gawked.
Amy pulled away from her and smiled brightly.
“Well…” Amy began, “Recently a couple of old friends of ours popped up in our organization. We hadn’t seen them in ages…so I got to thinking…”
Amy held both of Trip’s hands softly.
“Would you like to come live with us?”
Trip’s face went red. She didn’t know how to respond to that. Amy could see her shock.
“I just…can’t stand the thought of you being on this island all by yourself…” Amy explained, “You’re one of our oldest friends, and I hate how much you’ve missed while being alone.”
Trip felt Amy’s fingers intertwine with her own as she lifted them up.
“I want you to be with us, like all the rest of our friends! So, if it’s not any issue, I’d like to get you off Northstar island permanently!”
Trip stared at Amy’s beautiful face. It was only now that she fully realized how much she missed it. All of it. Her eyes, her smile, her voice.
She looked back at Sonic and Tails, who gave her reassuring nods and smiles.
“O…O-Okay,” Trip finally stuttered.
