She Didn’t, So She Did

Summary:

Carson Shaw has struggled for years finding someone to love and be loved in return. She thought she found that but got her heart broken in two. Now she has to attend her friends wedding alone…unless a certain person has a say in it

“I’ll go with you.” Greta says, reaching over and taking Carson’s hand.

“I appreciate the offer but I don’t need your pity or anyone’s pity for that matter.”

“It's not pity or an offer. I’m telling you, we’re going together. Listen, I’ve been looking for a date to take and I’d love nothing more than for you to be my date for the night.” Greta smiles and waits for Carson to agree. There’s a hopefulness in her eyes that Carson can’t miss.

Work Text:

Carson Shaw had always dreamt of having a love like she read about in the books, that she had seen in the movies. She thought she had found that after years of searching, failed dates, talking stages, and even the occasional relationship. Key word: thought. She had met Charlie, an average height, blonde haired, blue eyed woman at a grocery store. They had locked eyes over a produce stand when the both of them had reached for the same fruit.

The pair seemed to hit it off pretty quickly. Their first date was scheduled two days after meeting. Within the first month of dating, Carson had introduced Charlie to all of her close friends. Although the overall reaction to her quickly forming relationship was positive, some of her friends felt that there was something off.

Max Chapman, Carson’s longest standing friendship, was the first to bring up her concern. “I don’t know, Car. There’s something about her that doesn’t sit right with me.” Max had explained.

“Can’t you just be happy for me? I finally have someone that I feel a real connection with.” Carson was a little hurt that her friend would say something like that. Max knew how long she had been waiting to have a relationship like this, so why was she being so negative?

“I am happy for you, I just…she’s standoffish, she’s always on her phone when I see her. She doesn’t really add much to any conversation. She doesn’t even really seem that interested in you. Hell, when we were talking about baseball she didn’t even know you love the sport.”

“Well, that’s not really her fault-” Carson tried to explain but was cut off with a sigh and an eye roll.

“You don’t shut up about baseball.” Max gave her a pointed look.

“It’s only been a couple months, Max. Besides, she’s always busy with work and stuff, so her not remembering that I love baseball isn’t that big of a deal.” Carson defended her girlfriend and that was the end of the conversation.

A year later Carson would find out that Charlie wasn’t who she thought she was, and that the blonde had been sleeping with other women from the start. That completely tore Carson. She had fallen in love, had thought about their future plans, an engagement, a wedding, a house, the list goes on. It left her tired and depressed. She was going on thirty and had yet to find someone that truly wanted her.

It didn’t help that a week after the break up she had a wedding to go to. A wedding she was supposed to attend with Charlie. Now she’ll have to go alone. Face the fairytale love that her friends have, alone. She thinks she must be destined to be alone. The universe using Charlie to drill that into her skull, hoping she’ll finally get it.

Carson shivered as she walked down the sidewalk to a bar her friend group always gathered at. It was early spring, but the winter weather wasn’t showing any signs of letting up. Carson hated cold weather. The only thing she liked about winter was coming home to a warm house. She might’ve not had a problem with it if she had someone to keep her warm. A warm hand to hold, an arm to wrap around her, but-no.

Carson sighed as she opened the door to The Dugout. She was there for a combined bachelorette party for Jess and Lupé, the brides to be. Upon entering, Carson goes straight to the bar. She doesn’t even scope out the area for her friends, she needs a drink first…or two, hoping a little bit of alcohol will make it easier to hide her gloominess.

With her back turned towards the room Carson doesn’t notice the person coming up behind her until she smells the strong scent of Tom Ford's Lost Cherry. She’d know that scent anywhere. She knows exactly who it belongs to and before she can turn towards the suspect her shoulder is bumped rather roughly.

“Hiya!” The perky voice rings in her ear.

“Hi, Greta.” Carson mumbles. Greta Gill is one of her best friends. She was one of Carson’s first girl crushes too. No one could blame her for having a crush though. Who wouldn’t have a crush on a tall redhead with beautiful golden brown eyes and a big bright smile? Carson’s only human after all. For a split second the thought of having a girl like Greta, having Greta crosses her mind.

“You okay, Chickadee?” Greta asks, genuine curiosity in her voice. She asks the bartender for two shots of tequila while she waits for Carson to answer.

Lost in thought it takes Carson a moment to register the question, “Huh? Oh. Yeah…I- I’m good.” She nods.

Greta looks at her, concern written on her face. She then looks past her and rolls her eyes, “Charlie couldn’t make it again?”

“Umm…no.” Carson says, picking at the label on her beer. “We uh..we broke up a few days ago.” Carson sighs and downs half her beer in two gulps.

“Oh Carse. I’m so sorry.” Greta places a hand on Carson’s shoulder. Carson can feel the warmth through her jacket.

“Don’t be.” She shrugs and drinks the rest of her beer, holding up her finger to ask for another before she finishes swallowing. “Please don’t tell anyone. I know they’ll figure it out soon enough but I don’t…I- I-”

“I understand. I won’t, I promise.” Greta hands her one of the shots and clinks hers with Carson’s before shooting it back. “C’mon, let’s join the party.” She smiles and pats Carson on her back, leading her to their table.

“Shaawww!” The brides slur together, clearly already feeling the effects of all the drinks they’ve had before Carson’s arrival. Carson laughs at the pair of goofs. Her mood already lifting as she walks up to Jess and Lupé, wrapping one arm around each of them and bringing them into a group hug.

“Hey, guys! I’m assuming you two are having a great time?”

Both Jess and Lupé lean in together and kiss Carson on her cheeks. “Y’know, alcohol is so much better when it’s free.” Lupé says and hands Carson a shot of some clear liquid. “Cheers queers!” She shouts and downs the shot before the rest of the table has the chance to grab their own.

Carson finds a seat between Greta and Maybelle, a shorter blonde woman known for her bubbly but take no shit attitude. Next to May sat her fiancé and Greta’s best friend Jo. Jo was intimidating with their tough exterior, but everyone knew they were a soft teddy bear on the inside that would do anything to protect and bring comfort to their friends.

Max sat across from Carson and gave her a soft look that spoke a thousand words. Almost like she already knew about Carson’s breakup. Carson looked away, she couldn’t look her in the eyes. Max was right all along and she wasn’t ready to hear the enetiable ‘I told you so’.

The night was going great. The brides to be were cut off an hour after Carson got there. The final straw was Jess and Lupé betting who could run two blocks and back the fastest, naked. Max was able to reason with them telling them that everyone would see the body of their future wives. Which in turn made a very drunk Lupé insanely jealous, throwing herself over Jess to keep prying eyes away. Through the drunken chaos Carson was able to forget about her nonexistent love life.

That was until May asked, “Where’s Charlie? I haven’t seen her around for a while.”

Greta slams her beer down, everyone’s attention turns towards her. “Hey! Did you guys hear about that new queer show? It’s-”

“It’s okay, Greta.” Carson interrupts and gives her a grateful smile for trying to change the subject.

“Wait, I wanna hear about this show.” Jo perks up, their attention grabbed. The group starts to dive head first into a conversation about the new show, but Carson just wants to get it over with.

“Charlie and I broke up!” Carson blurts out far louder than she wanted to, but she’s glad to get it out of the way, to rip off the band-Aid. The group quiets instantly and turns their focus on Carson. Carson gulps, her cheeks turn hot and she starts picking at her fingers. “Uh…she uh,” her voice wobbles. She hasn’t said the hard part out loud yet and the thought of telling everyone that she got cheated on makes her feel nauseous and embarrassed. “I found out she was cheating on me.” She mumbles.

“Oh, honey. I am so sorry.” May says and gets up to give her a hug from behind. Tears fill Carson’s eyes, but she’s not willing to let them fall no matter how much it burns.

“Want me to kill her?” Jo asks, popping their knuckles. Carson’s not sure if they're joking or not.

“I know how to get rid of a body.” Jess says nonchalantly like it’s the most normal thing to say. The whole group turns to Jess, bewilderment written all over their faces. “What? It’s a good thing to know.” She shrugs and takes a sip of her water.

“Anyway,” Max says, eyeing Jess before looking back at Carson. “I'm sorry, Car. You don’t deserve that.”

“It's okay.” Carson shrugs. “And no, she’s not worth jail time. I think I’m more bummed about going to the wedding alone than anything.” Carson chuckles, lies. She wants to get past this conversation before she starts crying.

Carson nods, “Okay, it’s a date then.” She can’t help but reflect Greta’s smile. The thumb rubbing against her knuckles is soothing. It’s enough to make her forget her embarrassment.

The group returns to their previous conversation like nothing had happened and for that Carson is grateful.

*****

Carson loosened her tie for the third time in ten minutes. She wipes her sweaty palms down her thighs. Her leg is bouncing a mile a minute and it wasn’t the pothole filled roads of the Midwest the limo was driving on- Jess and Lupé, not being able to do anything simple, had rented a limo for the wedding party.

She was anxious. She hated her social anxiety. She felt there was no reason to be anxious, she’d be around friends the whole time not strangers. No matter how many times she reminded herself of that, she couldn’t stop her palms from sweating, she couldn’t stop the feeling of being choked, and she couldn’t stop her leg from bouncing.

A gently placed hand on her knee stopped it’s movement almost instantly. She stared down at the hand not because it made her uncomfortable; it brought comfort. A comfort she's only ever gotten from one person. She looked at the red painted fingernails and up to the golden brown eyes that were watching her. “You’re okay.” Greta whispered so quietly it was only heard between the two of them.

Carson's mouth pops open in slight shock at this woman knowing her so well. She nods and takes a few deep breaths. She looks around the limo and everyone else is doing their own thing, in their own conversations. She’s glad no one’s noticed her anxious self. Not that any of her friends would poke fun, but it makes her feel better that no one else saw her like this.

“Did you catch the Padres game yesterday?” Greta asks, bringing Carson’s attention to something else.

“If you mean the Cubs game, then yes.” Carson smiles a cheeky smile. For as long as Carson can remember the Padres were Greta’s favorite baseball team, the Cubs were Carson’s, and for as long as their friendship has been there’s been a friendly feud between them and whose team was better.

“Then you’d know the Padres won. Six to three.” Greta smirks, proud of herself and her team.

“Yeah, yeah. I know that. Don’t get too cocky though, that’s only one win compared to what? Three? Four? And it’s only the beginning of the season.” Carson boasts. She laughs at the slap on her knee she receives. The rest of the ride to the venue they bicker back and forth about previous seasons and wins, and possible cheaters on either team. It’s all in good fun though and by the time they exit the limo they’re both almost in tears from laughing.

*****

The venue for the reception was beautiful. It took place inside of a large barn. Twinkling lights hung from the ceiling beams and wrapped around wooden pillars. Tables and seating lined the perimeter leaving a large area for dancing.

Carson sat on a stool at the end of one of the two bars in the building. She was on her third beer of the evening and was contemplating grabbing another shot. Everywhere she looked she was faced with love and reminded of the lack of it in her life.

She shook her head to clear those thoughts once again and looked out to the dance floor. A flash of red caught her eye and she instantly felt her cheeks warm. She’ll say it was the alcohol, not Greta in a beautiful deep red sparkly dress, or the bare skin of her back that Carson got a view of every time the woman spun around the dance floor. It was definitely the alcohol.

The music changed to something upbeat and almost like a signal, Greta ran straight for Jo. Carson couldn’t help but smile at the pair of best friends as they danced horribly together. Greta made eye contact with Carson and waved as she continued to dance. Carson being Carson and not being able to do anything without being awkward, she sent a half wave- half thumbs up. She cringed inwardly and turned back towards the bar. Maybe her awkwardness and her loneliness ran hand in hand. She went ahead and ordered that shot.

“Hey!” Greta appeared beside her.

“Hi.” Carson nodded and smiled.

“Hi.” Greta parroted and returned the smile.

“Hi.” Carson repeated. Once again.

“Wanna dance?” Greta asks, throwing her thumb behind her shoulder towards the dance floor.

Carson shook her head, “I’m not much of a dancer.”

“Neither am I.” Greta shrugged.

“Greta…” She knew what Greta was doing and she really wasn’t the mood.

“Carson…c’mon, don’t be boring. One song? Pleeease?” Greta begged and took a sip of Carson’s beer.

“Ugh, fine.” Carson sighed only because she knew her friend wouldn’t take no as an answer. She slowly rose from the bar stool. Greta giggled gleefully and pulled Carson out to the dance floor.

It just so happened that the song changed to something slow as Greta led them through a crowd of people. The last thing Carson wanted to do was slow dance, but she was stuck having to do so for at least one song. Knowing Greta though it'll be multiple. Greta draped her arms around Carson’s neck while Carson stood there awkwardly with her arms to her side. The redhead rolled her eyes, but smiled as she moved Carson’s arms so her hands were placed on Greta’s hips. Greta’s arms went back to where they were and the pair started swaying to the music.

Carson was in a different world. She looked at all the couples around the room happily swaying to the music, whispering sweet nothings, smiling, kissing. She couldn’t understand how so many people could find happiness and love, while here she was trying for years and getting nowhere. She’s heard the sayings like “love will find you when you’re not looking for it” or “it’ll happen when you least expect it”, but how true is that when she’s stopped looking throughout the multiple breaks she’d taken from trying. She tries and nothing happens, she doesn’t try and still nothing happens. When something does happen, it always leaves her heartbroken. It has to be her. There has to be something wrong with her. There has to be something that sends people running in the opposite direction.

Charlie and what she did crosses her mind. That only starts a snowball effect. She can’t help but think she was the reason Charlie was with other women. That she wasn’t enough and never would be. Or that she was too much and drove Charlie into other women’s beds.

“Carse...Carson? Did you hear me?” A soft voice brings her focus back.

Carson snaps back to reality, blinks a few times to clear her mind. “Uh sorry. What did you say?”

Greta frowns and looks at her for a moment. Her head tilted and eyebrows furrowed like she’s trying to get a read. “Come with me.” She doesn’t wait for Carson to register what she said and drags her off the dance floor, across the barn and to the bathroom.

“Greta what-”

“Stop thinking about her.” Greta stands in front of her and crosses her arms. She doesn’t sound mad persay but she’s definitely disappointed.

Carson’s caught off guard by someone so well in tune with her thoughts. It takes her a moment to answer.

“I…I wish I could. It’s just not that easy.” Carson sighs. She wouldn’t be thinking about Charlie if she had a choice.

“Why not?” Greta waits for her to answer, but Carson can’t come up with one. So, she continues, “Carson, she was cheating on you with multiple women for the better part of a year. Not only is that morally wrong, but she also put your health at risk. When you confronted her what did she say?”

Tears instantly fill Carson’s eyes. She doesn’t want to think about that. She doesn’t want to relive that moment. The most heartbreaking thing she had ever been told. She’s kind of mad that the one person she told is asking her to talk about it again. “Greta I don’t want-”

Greta shook her head and stepped closer, backing Carson up towards the sink counter. “What did she say?” She asks more insistently.

“She- she said that I was just another person to fuck.”

Carson doesn’t even realize that she’d let her tears fall until Greta’s reaching out and wiping them away. “She doesn’t deserve to be another thought of yours. You deserve so much better.” She yanks a paper towel from the dispenser and hands it to Carson.

Carson wipes the rest of her tears and nose. “Yeah well I think that marked the end of my dating years. I’m just gonna grow old and own fifteen cats.” She chuckles wetly.

“Oh quit that! Women flirt with you all the time at the bar. There’s women lined up out the door waiting for the chance to ride The Carson Shaw Express!” She emphasizes with a thrust of her hips and laughs.

“Ewww Greta! Don’t ever say that again and there’s not a single woman that wants me.”

Greta stops laughing and carefully watches Carson. A small smile graced her lips as she steps even closer, almost pinning Carson to the counter. “Now see that’s where you’re wrong.” She whispers slowly. Carson gulps. She can’t look away from Greta’s lips. She watches as Greta’s tongue pokes out of the corner of her mouth.

Carson snorts and rolls her eyes at that. “Yeah okay. If you could show me these women that-” She’s cut off by her own gasp as a pair lips press into her own. At first she’s startled and tenses up, but the longer the pillow soft lips are pressed into her own she relaxes and gives in.

The kiss goes on forever. Carson doesn’t want it to stop. She feels butterflies in her stomach, fluttering up to her chest. She feels lightheaded, the need for air taking over. Instead of taking a breath she pulls Greta down further, kissing her harder. One hand falls to Greta’s hip and squeezes, the other still tangled in red curls. Greta’s hands are undoubtedly making a mess of Carson’s hair but the pull feels too good for Carson to care. Her tongue pokes out to trace Greta’s lower lip, but before she could gain entry hands push her back by her shoulders and their lips disconnect.

Greta takes a small step back and slides her hands down to the top of Carson’s chest. Carson knows she can feel the rapid beating of her heart. “Holy shit, Shaw.” She breathes in deeply and sighs. She waits for the both of them to catch their breaths before leaning in to kiss her again. This time it’s a couple small pecks. When she pulls back again she’s smiling.

Carson’s smiling too. She never thought in a million years she’d be kissing her friend. Her very hot friend. Someone way out of her league. Then it happens, her smile fades and she looks down at the floor, embarrassed and confused.

“Hey, what happened just now?” Greta asks. She tries to lift Carson’s gaze but she shakes her head.

Carson crosses her arms across her chest and stares at the pile of wadded up paper towels scattered around the bottom of the trash can. “Why’d you kiss me?” She mumbles.

“Carson…”

“Why? Was it out of pity? Or boredom? Or was it a joke? It has to be a joke right? There’s no way someone like you would even think about kissing someone like me. I’m nothing, I’m-”

“Stop that! You are not nothing. You are extraordinary. It wasn’t out of pity or boredom, and it sure as hell wasn’t a joke. I kissed you because I wanted to.” She pushes a strand of hair behind Carson’s ear and the touch sends a shock through Carson’s body. “Carson, I- can we go somewhere and talk about this? I don’t really wanna have this conversation in a dirty bathroom.”

“Umm yeah. Yeah of course. We can go back to my place or something, but I- I’m not really sure what would be open at this hour, so maybe a park, but it is still pretty cold, so your place is good if-if you don’t wanna go to mine. I don’t care, I-”

“You have to take a breath for me.” Greta chuckles. “Your place is fine. How about we say our goodbyes, get an uber, and talk about this?”

“Yeah, okay. That- that sounds good.” Carson nods, uncrosses her arms, and pushes off the counter. Greta smiles at her. She takes Carson’s hand and leads them out of the bathroom.

*****

Walking into Carson’s apartment the energy between them shifted. They were both quiet, nervous for the conversation to come.

“Would you like something to drink? I got water and some beer. I can also open a bottle of wine if you'd rather have that.” Carson offers, hanging their coats up.

“Wine sounds good.” Greta replies with a smile as she takes a seat on Carson’s couch.

A few minutes later Carson returns to the living room with a bottle of red and two glasses. Greta’s already taken her heels off and had her feet up under herself. Carson sets the items down on the coffee table and sits down on the other end of the couch. All of the sudden feeling hot and sweaty she unbuttons her cuff and rolls her sleeves up. She wipes her hands down her thighs and reaches for the wine bottle. Her hands shake as she pours the wine. She tries to regulate her breathing to calm down. She has nothing to be nervous about, it’s just Greta. Greta and her are only having a conversation. A conversation about their very good, very heated kiss.

Once the wine is poured Carson gulps hers down and pours herself some more. Greta’s hand reaches out and rests on Carson's forearm. “Are you okay?” The redhead asks.

“Mmhmm! I’m great. Why?” Carson says, taking another big sip.

“You’re drinking that wine like it’s grape juice.”

“I mean isn’t it? Just fermented.”

“Carse…”

“Greta…?”

Greta sighs and runs a hand through her hair, messing it up in such a beautiful way. “Look, I don’t want things to be awkward between us. I didn’t mean for the kiss to make you uncomfortable or anything.”

“What?!” Carson spits out her wine. “Sorry.” She wipes her mouth and sets her glass down. “Greta, that kiss was the best kiss I’ve ever had. It didn’t make me uncomfortable. I’m just…I don’t know, I guess I’m confused as to why you would kiss me.” Carson mumbles the last word.

“You really don’t see it do you?” Greta asks softly.

“See what?” Carson’s eyebrows furrow. Now she’s really confused.

“The way I- I-” Greta looks up at the ceiling like she’s trying to find the answer. Carson’s never seen her like this before. Greta always knows what to say and how to say it. Seeing her at a loss for words is new for Carson. “I like you, Carson. I really like you.”

Carson looks at her, dumbfounded. Did she just- “Greta, what do you mean?” Greta just smiles at her. She scoots closer and takes one of Carson’s hands into her own and holds them in her lap.

Greta looks down at their conjoined hands and takes a deep breath. “I’ve wanted to be with you for a while but the timing was always off. I never stopped thinking about what it’d be like to be yours though.” She looks back up at Carson. Her cheeks are tinted pink and her eyes earnest.

“Me?” Carson whispers more to herself. There’s no way she’s hearing this correctly. She makes a mental note to get into an ENT for a hearing test.

“Yes you.” Greta giggles.

“But why? There’s nothing special about me.” Carson shrugs because there’s not. She’s just an ordinary person with a regular job, no special talents. If anything she’s the most awkward person.

Greta shakes her head and turns more towards Carson. “Carson Shaw, you are the most special person I know. When I look at you, I see the most beautiful, kindest, funniest person in the world. I see someone that’ll give the shirt off her back and the last penny she has to a stranger just because she thinks they’d need it more than her. I see the most gorgeous smile and the cutest dimples that make me melt every time I see them- which isn’t fair by the way.” The both of them laugh at that. “I see someone that deserves so much better than what she’s ever got. I see someone that I dream of having the chance to be with, to love, to treat the way she deserves to be treated.” There’s tears in Greta’s eyes by the end of her speech and something a little like hope.

Carson can’t believe she’s hearing this. A part of her wants to be mad at Greta for not telling her sooner. It would’ve saved her a lot of heartbreak. Another part of her, a bigger part, looks at this woman and sees everything. Her dreams becoming a reality. Her heartbeat picks up at the thought of sharing her dreams with Greta, the one person who ever truly saw her. Who never judged her, who was always there for her. “I’ve kinda had a crush on you for years.” Carson admits. She smiles sheepishly and looks down.

A finger hooks under her chin and brings her face up. Greta’s smiling that beautiful bright smile, “You think I don’t know? I know. I catch you watching.” She chuckles. Carson's cheeks turn hot at that and she’s about to sputter out some sort of denial, but is cut off by Greta kissing her softly. “I like to watch you too.” She mumbles against Carson’s lips and Carson’s head explodes.

“You really feel that way about me..that you want to be with me?” Carson can’t help but to ask. She needs to make sure, she can’t get her hopes up. She’s gotten her hopes up way too many times.

“Yes. Is that really so hard to believe?”

“I mean, yeah. Kinda? You're so hot…and I’m-”

“Hot too? Carson, I want you. I want you in more than one way.” Greta murmurs, scoots even closer to Carson. Their knees brush against each other. The energy shifts between them again and the fluttering in Carson's stomach returns. Greta’s hand slides up Carson’s thigh and Carson looks down at the hand moving up. She gulps. “Right now, I really want you under me, sighing my name over,” Greta leans in and nips at her earlobe, “and over,” she traces her tongue down Carson’s neck, “and over.” She bites down on the spot where her neck and shoulder meet. She’s quick to soothe the spot with a kiss. “If that sounds good to you.”

Carson shudders and hums in agreement. “I- I want that…you. I want you too.”

Greta smiles at that. She grabs the back of Carson’s neck and brings her into a slow and downright dirty kiss. Her tongue slips into Carson’s mouth. Carson sucks on it, slides her tongue across Greta’s.

Carson’s not sure how long they’ve been making out on the couch. She’s not even sure how Greta ended up in her lap with her dress rucked up halfway up her thighs, and her hands roaming across Carson’s chest and pulling her hair. Carson squeezes Greta’s thighs, rubs her hands up to her waist and holds her there. The feeling of Greta rolling her hips into Carson’s abdomen drives Carson absolutely insane. She’s sure she’s soaked through her boxers by now and if she doesn’t do anything about it, she’ll for sure soak through her slacks in no time.

“W-wait.” Carson pants and pulls away from Greta’s insistent kisses.

Greta lifts her hands from Carson’s chest instantly, her eyes wide. “What’s wrong? Too much?” She rushes out.

Carson smiles and shakes her head, “No, not too much. I just, I want to take you to bed.”

“Take me to bed then.” She says leaning back in for a kiss. Greta squeals as Carson stands up with no problem while she’s in her arms. Carson easily adjusted, grasping Greta’s thighs just below her ass. “Damn, Shaw.” She husks into Carson’s ear.

Carson chuckles at the redhead’s surprise. She might be of a shorter stature but she sure as hell knows how to use her strength. She somehow makes her way through her apartment and to her bedroom safely with Greta sucking marks down her neck. She gently sets Greta down on the side of the bed and steps back. Maintaining eye contact with Greta, she slowly untucks her shirt and unbuttons it one by one. The whole time she’s undressing herself Greta’s staring at her, biting her lip. The way Greta’s looking at her makes her feel good. Makes her feel wanted.

Carson walks back up to Greta in just her boxers and ghosts Greta’s lips with her own, making Greta chase her kiss. She reaches around Greta’s back and unzips her dress. Carson holds her hands out to pull Greta up and spins her around, kissing her shoulder as she pushes her dress off. Greta turns back around and unclasps her own bra, letting it fall to the floor. Carson tries to keep her eyes from popping out of her head at the sight of Greta’s bare chest, but must’ve failed miserably based on the cocky smirk Greta gives her.

The redhead laughs at Carson blinking rapidly. She grabs Carson’s hand and falls back on the bed, pulling the brunette down with her. Greta’s hands go to either side of Carson’s face and pushes her hair behind her ears. “Hi.” She smiles, looking up at Carson.

She’s beautiful, Carson thinks. Her golden brown eyes are bright and shining. Carson’s eyes follow the freckles on her nose across to her rosy cheeks. Carson mirrors her smile. Greta’s palms feel so warm against her cheeks and she melts. “Hi.” Carson sighs.

“I want you.” Greta reassures. Carson nods and dips her head to capture her lips in a slow kiss, grounding them both.

It takes no time at all for their kisses to quicken and become sloppy. Carson’s hand slides up Greta’s side and up to her breast, cupping one gently. The fullness in her palm feels perfect. Her thumb swipes across a nipple and Greta moans. The sound sends a shock down Carson’s body and straight to her core. She decides then and there that she’ll do anything she has to in order to hear that sound again. She rolls the nipple between her fingers and pinches. She’s instantly rewarded with a louder moan. “Fuck.” Greta groans.

“I’m getting there.” Carson smirks. She kisses down Greta’s neck, across her collarbone, and to her neglected breast. She flicks her tongue around the nipple. Sucks it into her mouth until it’s stiff. Greta’s hand grasps the back of Carson’s head to keep her there- not that Carson was planning on moving any time soon.

She kisses her way across Greta’s chest and does the same to the other. By the time she’s ready to continue her descent Greta’s chest is covered in red and purple marks, her nipples peaked and covered in spit. The sight makes Carson feral. She drags her tongue down Greta’s abdomen and kisses right above the band of her incredibly sexy black lace thong. “Can I take these off?” Carson asks, running her finger under the band. She laughs at Greta’s quickness to remove them. The redhead practically kicks them off, spreads her legs with them still hooked on one foot.

Carson situates herself between long legs. She looks up at Greta and god she’s gorgeous. Greta’s eyes are hooded, she’s flushed down to her chest, her hair fanned out on Carson’s pillow. The most beautiful thing Carson has seen. She throws Greta’s legs over her shoulders and runs her hands up and down the outside of her thighs. She kisses the side of each knee and looks down. She can’t take her eyes off of the pink, glistening skin right in front of her face. Carson’s mouth waters in anticipation. She looks up at Greta for another check in. When she gets a smile and a nod she licks her lips and dips her head.

A moan of appreciation comes from the both of them as Carson gets her first taste. Carson’s tongue slides through slick, velvety folds. Her eyes roll back at the unique taste of Greta. Carson doesn’t think she’s ever tasted anything so heavenly, so mouthwatering. She brings one hand up to pull up in Greta’s mound to expose her clit. She swirls her tongue around the bud and sucks.

“Oh my god!” Greta gasps. One hand slapping down onto her mouth to quiet her moans, the other tangling in brown hair and pulling Carson closer. Carson grins around her tongue and continues to flick it around Greta’s clit. She brings her free hand up and teases at Greta’s entrance with a finger. She can feel the redheads' walls flex at the light touch.

“Carson. Baby please.” Greta sighs and rolls her hips into Carson’s touch. Carson moans at that. The sound of Greta calling her baby makes her throb. She wasn’t one for pet names really, but it felt good coming from Greta. It felt different and right.

Carson removed her mouth to press kisses to the redhead's thigh, chuckling at the whine in protest she receives. She brings her finger up and plays with Greta’s slit. She swipes across her clit and down to her entrance, easily slipping in. Carson brings her mouth back and slowly laps at Greta's bundle of nerves. She doesn’t want to work her up too quickly. She wants to savor this moment, but with the way Greta’s hips are rolling into her mouth and hand, and how she’s opening up under Carson’s touch, Carson doesn’t think she’ll last much longer.

Within a few short strokes Greta became impossibly wetter, Carson’s name flowing out of her mouth in quick whispered gasps. Carson adds a second finger and fucks into her quicker and harder, curling her fingers. The feeling of Greta clenching around her fingers is almost enough to send her into an orgasm of her own.

“I’m close. Please don’t stop!” Greta cries out. Carson hums in agreement. She makes eye contact with her just as she sucks her clit into her mouth. Greta’s back arches, her head thrown back. Carson can see the veins in her neck popping out. It’s without a doubt the hottest thing Carson’s ever seen and if she wasn’t so insatiable for the taste of Greta’s cunt she’d have her mouth on that long neck.

Greta’s body goes stiff for half a second before shaking with the force of her orgasm. Wetness gushes out of her and drips down Carson’s neck and wrist. The sheets ruined. Correction; that was the hottest thing Carson has ever seen. She keeps her fingers moving slowly, bringing Greta down. Each whimper and whine Greta lets out Carson’s body responds with a twitch of her clit or a throb of her center.

She watches as Greta’s breathing goes back to normal. Her body is slack and she’s sprawled out across Carson’s bed. Carson can’t stop thinking about how she’s the most beautiful person Carson has ever had the pleasure of seeing. Carson feels honored to have seen Greta come apart in her hands. Greta’s not the most open person, so to Carson, having seen her so vulnerable is such a privilege.

Carson leans over Greta's body and presses kisses to her chest, neck and face. “You’re so beautiful.” Carson smiles. Greta’s eyes flutter open and she smiles back. Her fingers wrap around the back of Carson’s neck and she pulls her down for a slow kiss. She moans into Carson’s mouth, surely tasting herself. Just that thought has Carson dripping with arousal. She pushes her hips forward and down into Greta’s and groans at the slight relief the pressure provides.

“Need some help there?” Greta smirks. Her hands scratch down Carson’s back and into her boxers, grabbing handfuls of her ass to pull her in. Carson’s hips grind down once more before she backs off Greta and pushes her boxers down. She goes back to her previous position laying on top of Greta. The skin to skin contact feels amazing. Greta feels so soft and warm against her.

They make out slowly for a while until Carson’s need becomes almost unbearable. Carson takes in their current position and thinks of a way they both can get pleasure out of this. She sits up and breathes in deeply to calm herself. She’s never done it like this before and can’t help but feel a bit nervous. But with the way Greta’s looking up at her, a small smile on her lips and a warm look in her eyes, Carson feels safe to ask for what she wants. “Can- can we try something?”

Greta looks down between their bodies. By the way her eyebrows raise and her smirk Carson can see when it hits her, that she understands what Carson’s asking for. “Fuck, Carse. Yeah. Yeah we can do that.” She nods her head fervently.

“Really? I-I mean we don’t have to if you don’t want to. I just- I thought that we’d both- I’ve never-”

“Baby?” Greta asks softly. She brings a hand up to cup the brunette’s cheek.

“Yeah?” Carson blushes at the pet name.

“I want to do that. Do you?”

“Yeah.” Carson breathes. “I want to so badly.”

“Okay,” Greta’s hand slips from her cheek and down to her neck, resting at the base. “Show me then.” Her tongue pokes out from the corner of her mouth and something about that kicks Carson’s confidence into gear. Carson nods. She sits back on her knees and pushes Greta’s legs up and out, making more room for herself. The sight of Greta spread out like that makes Carson breathless. She takes a quick moment to gather herself and assess their position, trying to figure out how she’s going to do this.

She scoots closer and spreads her legs. With their sexes lined up she experiments with a roll of her hips and god- god. The first touch is otherworldly. The feeling of their lips sliding together and pulling apart, their wetness mixing together. It’s so good. Carson’s never felt anything like this. When their clits brush together Carson almost collapses at the shock it sends through her body. She begins moving faster and harder, Greta meeting her thrust for thrust. The both of them not able to get enough.

Greta’s hands go down to Carson’s waist to pull her in harder. The air around them fills with loud moans and the smell of sweat and sex. It all feels so amazing and this moment with Greta feels perfect. But it’s not quite enough to get Carson over that blissful edge. She pulls back, ignoring Greta’s whining protest. She thumbs at Greta’s clit as she swipes her fingers from her free hand across her own at a rapid pace.

Caught up in trying to get them both off, Carson doesn’t register Greta reaching out for her until her hand is pushed away and replaced with Greta’s. “Fuck.” Carson sighs the one syllable word much longer than need be. Greta’s touch is almost overwhelming. She throws her head back and has to place both hands on either of Greta’s knees to keep upright. Carson feels herself flood around Greta’s fingers, clenching around nothing. “Inside. I need- inside! Please baby!”

Greta slid two fingers in, easily adding a third after a few strokes. Her thumb coming up and pushing against Carson's clit. Carson groans and brings her attention back to Greta. She slides her hand down between them and begins swiping her thumb across Greta’s bundle of nerves. She’s determined to get them over the edge together.

It takes almost no time at all for Carson to be close to climax. Before she has the chance to tell Greta, her walls begin to flutter around long, lithe fingers and she’s coming with a force she’s never experienced. She somehow keeps her thumb moving and Greta’s coming too right along with her, adding yet another new experience to the night.

Breathing heavily, Carson collapses onto her stomach next to Greta, her eyes sliding closed. She comes to with the feeling of nails lightly scratching up and down her back. When she cracks her eyes open Greta’s on her side and looking at her with her big beautiful smile. Carson smiles back. “Dimple.” Greta pokes her dimple. Carson turns her head and presses her lips to Greta’s finger.

It’s quite between them for a moment. The both of them calming down and taking the other in. Carson turns on her side and scoots closer to Greta. She takes one of Greta’s hands and brings it to her lips, locking eyes with her at the same time. “Tonight was…” she sighs. No words could compare to how she’s feeling.

“Wonderful? Sexy? Perfect?” The redhead supplies.

“All of the above and so much more.” Carson smiles. Greta nods and cuddles closer, resting her head under Carson’s chin. Carson traces her fingers down Greta’s spine as she gathers the courage to ask the one question she really needs to ask. “Greta?” She mumbles against the top of Greta’s head.

“Hmm?” Greta hums, her head still resting under Carson’s chin.

“I…um, are we, you know?” Okay so maybe she should have gathered a bit more courage.

Greta pulls back just enough to see Carson’s face. Her eyebrows are raised and a small smirk plays on her lips “Are we…?”

Carson rolls her eyes. Greta’s not going to make this easy on her. “You know, are we- I guess what I’m asking is…are we together? Are we- you know!”

Greta taps her finger against her lips in thought, “I’m not sure I know.” Carson shoots her a look and she laughs. “Oh come on! You just had your fingers in me and you can’t even ask me a simple question?”

“Greta!” Carson gasps, her cheeks turning hot. “An- and- and it’s not a simple question. It’s like the question of all questions.”

“Proposing already? After one night? I knew I was great in bed, but geez Shaw.” She laughs, but quickly stops when she notices Carson’s serious face. “I’m sorry. Not the right time to joke.” She pushes some hair out of Carson’s face and rests her hand on her clavicle. “Carson, you can ask me anything. You know this.”

Carson nods and gulps. Her foot taps against the mattress. She wants this so bad but the thought of Greta turning her down is making her stomach flip with nerves. Taking a deep breath and exhaling slowly she finally asks, “Are we together? Like are we dating, really doing this?”

Greta shrugs and looks down almost shyly. “I don’t know. Is that what you want?” She mumbles. Her shyness takes Carson back. Greta being shy with her isn’t something she thought she’d see. A lot of things happened tonight that she never thought she’d see or experience.

“Yeah, I’d like that.” Carson admits. She smiles when Greta’s eyes meet her own.

“Me too.” Greta smiles back.

“Really?” Carson asks with so much hope and excitement.

“Really really.” Greta giggles and brings Carson in for a kiss, her hand splayed on Carson’s back to pull them closer together. Carson melts at the warmth Greta brings. She’s never known anything that felt this way. The only thing that could compare is shutting the door on a snowstorm and letting the inside warmth consume you. The warmth you can only find at home, a wood burning fire lighting up the house from within.

Home. Carson knows this feeling now. It’s home. She’s home.
