Work Text:
"I fucking hate you," Roxie grits through her teeth.
Velma wrings her hands. "Roxie, you're the best dance partner ever."
"Fucking hate you," Roxie glares at her again before turning back to the piece of cloth in her hands. Finishing the row of tiny, neat stitches, she makes a small knot and bites at the thread. After briefly checking her work, she nods in satisfaction and starts looking for the next hole. "Three ripped dresses in a week! Seriously, what the hell?"
"You're brilliant," Velma says in a worshiping tone.
"Flattery will get you nowhere," says Roxie flatly.
Of course, that’s a blatant lie.
It started as a way to save money. Why pay for two rooms when they could just move in together? Also it made it easier to plan their show together.
It turned out that Velma was utter shit at things like sewing and cooking. On the other hand, she was great when it came to negotiating with managers, theater directors and pissed off landlords, so they complemented each other well.
It still pissed Roxie off when she damaged yet another of her stage costumes. Though, she had to admit, the things that followed said dress-ripping almost made it worth it.
She couldn’t have waited for Roxie to get undressed, could she? Selfish greedy bitch.
"You're so damn lazy. No wonder your husband started fucking your sister."
"I just know what I'm good at. Sewing ain’t it. You on the other hand knitted at the fucking witness stand."
"Yeah, I thought I was done with that shit when I ditched Amos. You're almost worse than him."
"Ah," Velma chuckles. "But I bet he couldn’t do this?"
She drops on her knees in front of Roxie.
"Wait!" Roxie exclaims, setting her sewing aside.
A daring spark in her eyes, Velma reaches for her panties.
"Don’t you dare," Roxie threatens.
"All right, darling. Don’t sweat it," says Velma silkily and removes the bit of fabric with utmost care. Then she kisses the inside of Roxie' thigh.
"Still hate you," Roxie breathes before losing herself in the pleasure.
Her lips moist, Velma glances up at her. "Hate you too."
As Velma resumes her job, Roxie grins. It seems her life has turned out pretty well after all.
