Aigis & Makoto wake up on Christmas in 2024 and get ready for their best Christmas ever.

Notes:

Written for Aikoto Secret Santa 2024

Prompt: Aikoto Christmas Date

This fic is a prequel to the drawing that is linked at the bottom. :D The drawing idea came first, but then I wanted to explain how the date came to be and this spawned from that.

*Beep beep beeeep! Beep beep beeeep! Beep beep beeeep!*

To most, waking up to the brightest cerulean blue headlights for eyes would cause a stir. However, Makoto Yuki is not like most people. Especially when those bright blue head beams belong to a certain Aigis Yuki.

A soft hand came down on the phone silencing the alarm.  An excessively loud yawn and a quick smack of the lips by Makoto Yuki quickly followed.

“Good morning, gorgeous.” He rolled back over on his side and admired his wide awake wife.

Aigis stared right back into Makoto’s grey eyes as her smile started to grow. “Good morning to you too, Makoto-san. Do you know what today is?”

He paused, for dramatic effect, and hummed. “Hmm. Well, it is December.” He paused again.  For an even more dramatic effect, of course.

“That is correct. Go on, please.” Her smile beamed joyfully at him.

“Well, it’s also Wednesday. Wednesday the 25th, to be exact. So putting those pieces together it must be... Wednesday, December 25th!” Makoto beamed a jolly smile right back at her.

Most would not notice the subtle whirl and slight twitch of her artificial eyelid. Again, however, Makoto Yuki is not like most people.

She patiently waited… 30 seconds, to be exact, before she started to narrow her eyes at him. “...and?” Aigis drawled out the word while making little impatient circles motions with her head, attempting to get him to continue that train of thought.

“I got nothing. Blanks. Just another boring old Wednesday, I guess.” Makoto shrugged, trying to keep a straight face, but he was slowly starting to break.

“Makoto. If you do not remember what day it is in 5 seconds...” She quickly scanned around their room and bed before grabbing his second most precious cuddle buddy. “I will shoot Jackie.” She pointed a finger gun at their Jack Frost stuffie’s head. “And he will not enjoy it, as they say.”

His weakness was struck, but he chuckled all the same. “Who is saying that and why?”

Aigis glared at him with all the strength she could muster. “Me, and this is no laughing matter.” She was starting to crack too. Her serious composure was slipping, but she pressed her finger against the Jack Frost doll and raised her eyebrows at Makoto.

Makoto threw his hands and arms over his head. “Okay, okay! You win, just leave little Jackie out of this.”

“Good.” Her signature smile crept right back up her face.

“It’s your birthday!” Makoto shouted with a sinister grin.

A giant frown instantly appeared on her face and Aigis audibly cocked her finger guns and pressed them against the Jack Frost plushy’s head again. Quite a bit harder and with a more serious feeling this time.

Makoto quickly managed to stutter out, “B-by your birthday, I mean that one American guy, Joseph Smith!” A quick very nervous laughter escaped his mouth.  “You know, Christmas! I think that’s what his name was at least. I didn’t get that far when I looked up the origin of the holiday.” He finished with a big gulp and more nervous laughter. Aigis moved her fully-loaded fingers off the doll’s head, much slower this time around. Makoto leaned down close to Jack’s head and whispered, “Sorry you got caught in the crossfire, buddy.”

They fell into each other's eyes once again before breaking out into a safe gentle laughter together. Makoto reached over to cup Aigis’ cheek with his hand. “Merry Christmas, my darling.”

Aigis blushed, placed her hand over his and leaned forward to kiss him. “Merry Christmas to you too, my love.”

Makoto slowly fell back onto his spot on the bed, letting out a satisfied exhale of breath while staring at the ceiling fan slowly spinning in place. “I’m guessing the plan is not to stay cuddled up in this bed while we comfortably stare into each other’s eyes all day?” A slight smirk formed on the side of his face opposite of Aigis, just hidden from her view.

Aigis hadn’t moved from her spot, and was still laying on her side staring directly at Makoto. “While that does sound nice, no. That is not today’s plan.” An excited smile fashioned on her face.

“Whew, that’s good because I have a plan!”

Aigis was caught off guard by this statement and was absolutely stunned. She started sitting up as she came to, shaking her head out of her confusion. “... a plan? YOU have a plan? Historically speaking, Makoto-san, your plans need... workshopping.”

Makoto mimicked a dagger stabbed directly into his heart. “Aigis, you have wounded me... But wait, hold on. Workshopping ?! I have, historically, had great plans! What plans of mine have needed workshopping ? ... Actually, nevermind don’t answer that. Aigis, I promise my plan this time will be wonderful.”

Aigis took a second to respond, before narrowing her eyes and studying his face up and down. “Makoto-san, because I love you and in the spirit of today’s holiday, I will hear you out on this plan.”

“Great! Well my plan is for tonight-”

“TONIGHT?! Makoto-san, it is Christmas DAY ! Not Christmas night! There are so many hours for activities during the day. According to my research, we can fit in exactly 22 different activities before it is considered Christmas night.” Aigis’ headphones started whirling a bit from excitement, attempting to cool her body off.

“That’s perfect then! We can do your 22 activities during the morning and day, while we finish the night off with my plan. My little Christmas date .” Makoto emphasized the last word and fluttered his eyelashes at Aigis.

Her cheeks flushed red. “You make a very compelling and agreeable argument. Very well, we will follow my whole list of activities for the day and slot in your date idea for our final slot.” She fluttered her eyelashes right back at him. She even attempted a wink at the end. It was a valiant attempt, at least.

With that Makoto started to get out of bed and stretched his arms wide. “Aigis. There is not a single thing in this world that sounds more perfect.” In a quick flash, he jumped right back to the bed landing right on top of Aigis and plopped a big kiss right on her forehead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To most, having the love of your life pounce on you to plant a giant kiss on your forehead would cause a bit of short circuiting. However, Aigis Yuki is not like most people and the two affronted individuals had a tight schedule to abide by for Christmas festivities... But maybe a quick kiss back wouldn’t be the end of the world.
With a quick, but delicate, kiss returned on Makoto’s forehead, it was time to get ready for the most wonderful Christmas of all time. Aigis easily bench pressed Makoto off of her, swooped him up in a bridal style and carried him out of their room.
“For today’s activities, I have already picked out exactly what I want to wear. That being said, will you tell me if it is too much?” She softly set Makoto down on their couch and stepped backwards, a blush forming on her face.
“Of course! I will make some coffee and breakfast. Would you like anything?”
“No, thank you. I will just be a minute.” “She swiftly darted back into their bedroom to change. Makoto let out a quiet giggle and shook his head side to side with a jolly grin on his face.
Aigis shut the door behind her and darted to her closet. Over the years, she and Yukari have gone out shopping together and Aigis had slowly built out a wardrobe that she was quite proud of. For this occasion, she picked out her and Makoto’s entire outfit herself. Gigawatts of processing power were spent on researching Christmas outfits and what would be the most traditional outfit to wear on the holiday.
She quickly changed into her outfit and stepped in front of the mirror. After a perfect twist and turn in said mirror, she grabbed Makoto’s attire and hung it on the door before sneakily opening the door.
A few quick breaths to relieve her nerves later, Aigis steeled herself and shouted, “Ta-da!” as she stepped out.
Stepping out from the kitchen, Makoto started to skip over to the living room until his eyes landed on Aigis. Immediately, he tripped over his feet and stumbled to the ground, head first. He resembled an earthworm, with his mouth left agape and ass stuck up into the air. All attempts to make some sort of sound were left in a bumbling mess as a small bit of air escaped his mouth.
“Is it too much?” Aigis questioned with a blush and giggle before running over to him and helping him back up.
Makoto was still trying to collect himself as he tried to speak again. He was failing miserably.
Aigis hummed, “Hmm. Does that mean it is too much? I had decided 3 days, 12 hours, and 6 minutes ago that Christmas is my new favorite holiday so I wanted to look the part.” She did a quick twirl as her festive red dress slightly poofed up in her spin.
“No no no, god no. It’s perfect. Literally perfect. Please wear this today. I’m sorry, I can’t stop staring is all.” Makoto was barely able to stammer out his response.
“Well, if it’s going to be a distraction for you, Makoto-san...” Aigis again giggled to herself but was trying to steel herself. To which she was failing horribly, and slided into a smug smirk.
“Look who’s teasing who now!” It was now Makoto’s turn to break out into laughter. “Honestly, it’s wonderful and I need to match your elegance.”
“Oh good! I have already bought the perfect partner outfit for you!” She quickly darted back behind the door and just as quickly reappeared with the outfit behind her back. Aigis gradually revealed Makoto’s outfit from behind her back, and attempted to build as much anticipation as she possibly could. “Alright, here it is. What do you think?”
Makoto took a silent moment to admire the red outfit thoroughly. “It definitely feels very... nutcracker-esque. I think I might get some funny looks out in public. That being said, let me spice it up with some 2024 fashion instead of 1824.” He walked over to Aigis and took the nutcracker costume, giving it a much closer inspection.
“I comprehend. However, we do have matinee tickets to Nutcracker on Ice so I thought this was, ‘on brand.’ As they say.”
Makoto let out another brief chuckle. “ Very on brand. I’m absolutely digging the coat, but I would like to be dressed somewhat comfortably for all our activities today. Speaking of which, is that the first activity on today’s agenda?”
Aigis reached into a hidden pocket, pulled out her flip phone with a satisfying * click* and opened up her calendar. “We actually have a ‘hot’ date with some chocolate to start off the morning. It will be consumed in no less than 22 minutes after arriving at the cafe, as we need to make our train at exact-”
“Right, got it. I’ll be following your lead.” He threw two thumbs up right at her.
“Hmm.” She started to rapidly press the backspace button on her phone. “Now for your plan, Makoto-san. What is the time of arrival, duration of the activity, location we need to get to, activity, do we need to change-”
Makoto simply strolled past her with his outfit and whispered into her ear. “Secret.” With a self satisfying smirk he closed the door behind him.
Aigis immediately spun around, opened the door and held her finger up high.. “These are not acceptable terms. I cannot simply write ‘Makoto-san’s plan’ on my schedule at ‘tonight’ time.” Her bright eyes were blinking rapidly in an almost panic.
“We’ll be ice-skating. To be honest, I hadn’t really picked out an exact time, since I figured we’d see how we were feeling once it got darker.” He knew he needed to give a straight serious answer to put her at ease.
“Ice-skating?” Aigis tilted her head, now much calmer than before. “I do not believe seeing Nutcracker on Ice will be sufficient training for you to know how to ice-skate.”
“You’re probably right about that, but it seems like a fun time to try it out, no? Plus, I technically didn’t know we were going to see that show. I was planning on winging it.”
She paused for a second before responding. “This does indeed sound like a lovely Christmas time with you. Rest assured, you can hang onto me the entire time and I will protect you. You will not fall or get hurt under my watch.” A smile accompanied the quick nod of her head.
Makoto set the outfit, still on its hanger, onto the bed and performed a deep royal bow towards Aigis. “I would expect nothing less from the Christmas Princess. Now if you would please.” He gestured towards the door, “I must be getting dressed shortly.”
Aigis blushed and returned with a curtsy. “Once my handsome Christmas Prince is dressed, would he like to start today’s activities with the traditional hot chocolate consumption?”
“Absolutely.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After getting dressed, Makoto was able to secretly grab the box he had been hiding for the past couple weeks from under the bed. Once the tiny box was secured, he stuffed it into his coat pocket and walked back into the living room.

As soon as he walked out, Aigis ran up to him to fully admire his outfit. “You may have been right about keeping only the jacket.” She placed her hands on his shoulders and brushed them down his arm. “You truly do look like my perfect Christmas Prince.”

“I will forever have you to thank for this.” He followed up with a twirl of his own as the coattails billowed out. “Now there is one last thing before we head out. Would you please cover your eyes and turn around?”

Aigis spun around, covered her eyes and let out a quiet giggle. Silently, she also started to reach into her hidden pockets, feeling for a special box she had put in there earlier.

“Okay, Aigis, turn around.” Makoto stretched out his arms to reveal a small wrapped present. “You have to open your Christmas present before we start the outside festivities.”

A bright red blush started to form on her cheeks. “Well if I have to, then you have to as well.” In an equal motion, she pulled out a similarly small present wrapped in the same wrapping paper.

“Ah, I see we both used the wrapping paper we keep in our storage closet.” They both chuckled, exchanged the present boxes and started to unwrap their gifts.

“Makoto-san... It’s gorgeous.” Out of the box, she pulled out a deep cerulean blue butterfly brooch that was encrusted with several blue sapphires and diamonds. “How... How in the world did you aff-”

“Ah ah, no discussing price or money spent on gifts. That’s a cardinal sin, or something like that.” Makoto started to unwrap his present and was immediately blinded from the glint off the gift inside. It took him a second to blink his vision back and really take in the gift. It was a brand new gold-plated and yellow topaz watch. Makoto just stared at it for a few seconds dumbfounded before looking up at Aigis. “I know we just spoke about cardinal sins and prices, but-”

“Ah ah, no discussing price or money spent on gifts.” She leaned over to his ear, “Secret.” Aigis grinned and planted a soft kiss on his lips. “I love this, by the way. In fact, I’m going to wear it today. Maybe even every single day till the day I die.”

“I’m glad you like it, I had it custom made. Let me help you put it on once I get this watch on.”

“If you are going to help me with mine, then I shall help you with yours.”

Aigis stepped back closer towards Makoto and held the watch up to his wrist to assist with the latch. Makoto probably could have handled it on his own, but he somehow found himself lost in those dangerous blue high beams that were dedicated to getting this watch fitted perfectly.

It took him a few seconds to finally glance down towards his wrist and examine his new watch. “This watch is lovely, Aigis. I truly feel like a Christmas Prince now.”

“And I...” Makoto took the butterfly from her palm and gently pinned it through her jacket. “Your Christmas Princess.” She let out a breath of air and slowly started to rub her thumb carefully across the brooch. After getting lost in its twinkles for a couple moments, Aigis finally was ready to leave. “Now your majesty, will you accompany me to the cafe?”

“It would be my absolute pleasure.” Makoto reached out a hand to Aigis, which she happily took. “Oh, wait! We can’t forget this.” He let go of her hand and ran over to the kitchen counter to grab a festive antler headband and placed it on Aigis’ head. “There we go. Now, we’re ready.” Hand in hand, they walked out the door for the best Christmas ever.
