Work Text:

The near laughter of children and the distant whoosh of roller coasters filled the air as Soojin glanced around the bustling theme park. She wasn’t entirely sure how Shuhua had convinced her to come here. The younger girl’s excited grin and her puppy-dog eyes had been hard to resist, especially when backed by a cheerful, “It’ll be fun! Trust me, unnie!”

Soojin adjusted her shirt, fidgeting slightly as she stood by the park map near the entrance. Her dark hair framed her face, and she glanced up hesitantly at Shuhua, who was bouncing on her heels like an overexcited kid.

“You’ve been staring at that map for five minutes,” Shuhua teased, leaning close. “What are you, a tourist? Come on, live a little!”

“I just want to plan where we’re going,” Soojin replied, her voice soft but firm. “This place is huge.”

“That’s the fun part!” Shuhua grinned, reaching out to gently tug the map from Soojin’s hands. “We don’t need a plan. Let’s just go with the flow.”

Soojin sighed but didn’t protest as Shuhua grabbed her wrist and began pulling her toward the nearest ride. Her heart raced, not from the speed at which Shuhua was dragging her, but from the warmth of the younger girl’s hand wrapped around hers.

Shuhua glanced over her shoulder with a mischievous grin. “Let’s start with something easy, okay? No scary coasters just yet.”

“Good,” Soojin murmured, her relief evident.

Their first stop was the Ferris wheel, its colorful cabins slowly rotating against the clear blue sky. Soojin hesitated as they reached the front of the line, glancing up nervously at the towering structure.

“Don’t tell me you’re scared of this,” Shuhua said, her tone teasing but affectionate.

“I’m not scared,” Soojin replied, though the slight tremble in her voice betrayed her.

Shuhua leaned closer, her warm breath tickling Soojin’s ear. “Don’t worry, unnie. If you get scared, I’ll hold your hand.”

Soojin’s cheeks turned pink as she avoided Shuhua’s gaze. “You’re impossible.”

Shuhua replied with a wink and then pulling Soojin into the cabin as their turn arrived.

As the Ferris wheel began its slow ascent, Soojin stared out at the sprawling park below, the lively chatter of the crowd growing faint. She felt the cabin sway slightly and instinctively gripped the edge of her seat.

Shuhua noticed and reached over, her fingers brushing against Soojin’s. “Relax, Soojinie” she said softly, her voice uncharacteristically gentle.

Soojin glanced at her, and for a moment, the teasing glint in Shuhua’s eyes was replaced with something softer. The older girl’s grip on the seat loosened, and she allowed herself to focus on the view instead of the height.

“It’s beautiful,” Soojin said quietly, her gaze fixed on the horizon.

“Yeah,” Shuhua replied, her eyes on Soojin. “It is.”

(autors note: WAAH THIS IS TOO CHEESY, I was kicking my feet while writing this D:)

Soojin caught the intensity of Shuhua’s gaze and quickly looked away, her heart fluttering.

After they left the ferris wheel, Shuhua dragged Soojin toward a haunted house attraction. The entrance was dark and scary looking, with actors dressed as ghosts and zombies lurking near the line to spook visitors.

“Are you sure about this?” Soojin asked, eyeing the entrance warily.

“Of course!” Shuhua said, practically bouncing with excitement. “What’s the worst that could happen? Besides, I’ll protect you.”

“You’re the one who screamed during that horror movie last week,” Soojin muttered under her breath.

Shuhua pretended not to hear and grabbed Soojin’s hand, pulling her inside. The haunted house was dimly lit, with eerie music playing in the background. Shadows flickered on the walls, and the occasional jump scare made other visitors shriek.

Soojin clung to Shuhua’s arm, her usual calm demeanor cracking as something brushed against her leg. “What was that?” she whispered, her eyes darting around the hallway nervously.

Shuhua grinned, clearly enjoying Soojin’s reaction. “Relax, unnie. It’s probably just—AAAAHH!”

Shuhua’s scream echoed through the room as a zombie actor jumped out from a hidden corner. She clung to Soojin, burying her face in the older girl’s shoulder.

Soojin blinked, her fear momentarily forgotten as she realized Shuhua was shaking like a hurt puppy.

“I thought you were going to protect me,” she teased, a small smile tugging at her lips.

“I changed my mind,” Shuhua mumbled, refusing to let go of Soojin.

Despite herself, Soojin laughed—a soft, musical sound that made Shuhua glance up, her embarrassment fading.

“You’re laughing at me,” Shuhua said, pouting.

“Maybe a little,” Soojin admitted, her smile widening.

As they exited the haunted house, still laughing and catching their breath, Soojin’s phone buzzed with a video call. She glanced at the screen and saw it was from Soyeon.

Soojin hesitated before answering, but Shuhua leaned over her shoulder and pressed the button. “Hi, Soyeon unnie!” she chirped.

Soyeon’s face filled the screen, her expression a mix of amusement and curiosity. “So this is what you two are doing today. No wonder you didn’t invite us.”

In the background, Yuqi’s voice was unmistakable. “Tell them to go on the scariest ride! Or are they too chicken?”

Shuhua smirked. “Don’t worry, Yuqi. I’ll get Soojinie on a roller coaster eventually.”

Miyeon’s face appeared next to Soyeon’s, her grin wide. “Shuhua, don’t scare Soojin too much! We need her alive for our next dance practice.”

“And tell Shuhua not to flirt too much,” Minnie added, her voice light but teasing. “Soojin might actually faint.”

Shuhua laughed. “Too late for that.”

Soojin groaned, her cheeks turning pink as she ended the call. “Why do they always have to tease us?”

“Because they love us,” Shuhua said with a shrug, slipping her arm around Soojin’s hips.

Soojin tensed at the sudden contact but didn’t pull away, a small smile tugging at her lips.

True to her word, Shuhua eventually convinced Soojin to try a roller coaster. They stood in line for one of the smaller coasters, the sound of screaming riders growing louder with each passing second.

Soojin fidgeted nervously, her hands clasped tightly in front of her.

“Unnie, it’s not that bad,” Shuhua said, leaning close. “Think of it as... an adventure.”

“An adventure that might kill me,” Soojin muttered.

Shuhua chuckled, reaching out to intertwine her fingers with Soojin’s. “You won’t die. I promise. Plus, what would I and others do without you again?”

Soojin looked down at the sentence, remembering 'the bad days'.

Shuhua saw it and reached with her free hand for the Korean girl's chin, bringing it upwards and knowing exactly what she’s thinking.

“Soojinie, that used to be, okay? You’re with us now, with me,” Shuhua pulled her hand to her chest and dropped it a second later.

“And no one, is going to change that, because I love you so much.” The younger girl confessed with a warm smile, waiting for the latter’s response.

Soojin looked at her. “Shu~” she started, “I love you too. Thank you for assuring me.” As those words were finished she went closer to her and gave her a warm hug.

When it was their turn for the coaster, Soojin hesitated before climbing into the seat. Shuhua settled beside her, a reassuring smile on her face.

As the coaster began its ascent, Soojin’s grip on the safety bar tightened. She glanced at Shuhua, who was grinning like a child on Christmas morning.

“Why are you so calm?” Soojin asked, her voice edged with panic.

“Because this is fun!” Shuhua replied, throwing her hands in the air as the coaster reached its peak.

Soojin barely had time to process her words before they were racing down the first drop. She screamed, her heart racing as the wind whipped past her face.

When the ride finally came to a stop, Soojin was breathless but smiling—a real, unguarded smile that made Shuhua’s heart skip a beat.

“See? That wasn’t so bad,” Shuhua said, helping Soojin out of the seat.

“You’re lucky I didn’t pass out,” Soojin replied, her tone light despite her words.

As the sun began to set, casting the park in a warm orange glow, Shuhua and Soojin found themselves at a quiet corner near the carousel. The soft sound of music played in the background, and the faint hum of the crowd felt distant.

“Thanks for today,” Soojin said softly, glancing at Shuhua. “I had fun.”

“Of course you did,” Shuhua said with a playful grin. “You were with me, after all.”

Soojin rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide the small smile on her face.

Shuhua’s expression softened as she took Soojin’s hand, her thumb brushing gently against the older girl’s knuckles. “I mean it, though. I’m glad you came with me. Seeing you smile like that... it makes me happy.”

Soojin felt her cheeks warm, but instead of pulling away, she squeezed Shuhua’s hand. “You’re such a flirt.”

“And you love it,” Shuhua said, leaning closer.

Soojin shook her head but didn’t move as Shuhua closed the distance between them, her lips brushing softly against Soojin’s. The kiss was brief, but it left both of them breathless.

As they pulled apart, Shuhua grinned. “Best day ever.”

Soojin laughed softly, her heart full. “It wasn’t bad.”

And as they walked out of the park hand in hand, the laughter and lights of the theme park fading behind them, Soojin couldn’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, she didn’t mind Shuhua’s teasing after all.
